Excellemt video. Everyone should watch it. Covers more than just 15 minue cities, but what the future may well have in store for us. Jordan Peterson is no crazy conspiracy theorist but a well respected academic. When he talks people should listen. The rudimentary building blocks of this distopean future are already in place....

Hopefully he has jumped into the river. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has lost his sight in his injured eye, I think he will have been in a lot of pain, serves him right.

Why would you be instinctively opposed to a built environment which helps people to access local services? Especially as you are also in favour of tunneling through the Peak District so that you can access services in Manchester. Its all quite confusing.

Nowt to do with Dr Beeching. It wasn’t closed until 1981, so the thick end of 20 years after the so called Beeching cuts. It also wasn’t “filled full of waste materials” as it has high voltage power cables running through it. Incidentally, the “new” tunnel as it was called, replacing the old single bore Victorian tunnels had electric lighting running the full length of it, so although there isn’t a snowball in hells chance of it being re-opened for traffic, that would be one less problem to sort out.

Thank you for one of the most sensible responses on this topic, @Annie Bynnol

One tunnel is not feasible -far too long for road only. -too short for a railway carrying vehicles, journey time and destination problems. -reluctance to pay tolls -thePennine geology is immensely complex being at the junction of the shale, limestone and gritstone. - the only 'tunnel' would be for several shorter tunnels. A question the planners have worried about ever since Mam Tor was permanently closed is the capacity problem, ie how many lanes. ANY new link due west of Sheffield centre would attract an enormous amount of traffic off the M18, A1(M), A6, A57, A628, M1, A38/A61 and even the M62, passing through/around Sheffield their house. Previous plans have had to consider ways of reducing demand(tolls) to prevent demand. Everybody wants the journey from their house to be easier but don't want the passing traffic and the new roads. The problem of capacity applies equally to the M60 junctions that a new road would have to link to. Currently the half dozen sub standard alternatives serve to reduce demand spread the congestion around. Many Sheffield car and van drivers(and potentially bus passengers) users will benefit from the “Mottram Moor Link Road and A57 Link Road project” which has now (nearly)jumped its final legal hurdle.

Putin's offered to end the war several times, with a variety of changing terms attached. He's also laid claim to parts of Ukraine his troops don't even control. No-one can trust a word that comes out of his mouth.

the other day on a certain nether edge Facebook forum a local cafe ,where no doubt all the knitted jumper brigade indulge in kidney bean soup followed by spicy nettle tea ,“ invited” their clientele to come along and make a SNOWPERSON

 I mean wtf
god knows how they decorated that! No wonder this country is in a mess.

its sad to see so many on the "left" getting so far down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole they fall into the trap of starting to follow and espouse what some of the right are saying Its why some on the left fall into the anti semitism trap.

Club website says 10,000+ supporters have “committed” to a season ticket. Not sure why they used “committed” rather than “purchased”. Regardless, 10,000 is quite an amount (if indeed true), in the current climate.

I suggest that you pop along to one of the Open days that are run by First and other companies, the ones that give you an opportunity to drive one (in good weather conditions & under instruction). I did and trust me, it's quite the eye-opener.

I'm sure you'd all love to pay for it................. As an example, Mont Blanc tunnel between France and Italy is just over 7 miles long and toll for a car is about ÂŁ48 one way or nearly ÂŁ60 return. Queues to use the tunnel are often an hour or more, it is regularly closed for maintenance

From a driver friend of mine, in response when I put it to him, "No we can't. Vehicle safety system settings are locked behind a password. Traction control is linked to ABS so disabling TC disables ABS"
