I lived near immigrants on Gleadless Valley, I couldn’t say if they were Albanians or if they were from Bulgaria but what I do know is that every morning at 06:30 two of the occupants of the house fifty yards from me, were picked up in a transit van and before they drove off rucksacks were filled with charity bags to put through peoples letter boxes , the van returned every afternoon BUT on a couple of days on its return around 10 to 15 black bags full of clothes were taken from the van into the house to be looked through, if they actually worked for a charity these bags would have been taken to a charity sorting unit, not not someone’s home. A couple of times a month bags full of clothes were dumped at the Maisonette communal bins, one morning I counted 20 full bags containing shoes and clothes along with hundreds of unopened charity bags, you should notice that the collectors of these bags are invariably Eastern European, now they don’t come here to work for a charity, I never accept any charity bags from these people, if anyone wants to contribute to any charity take your items to the many charity shops or set up a direct debit for a nominal sum.

Do you know the full details of that person's medical and mental health background and social history? This is akin to saying to someone "but you don't look disabled"...

its about sexual harrassment in the street, which should be a criminal offence tbh, weve come out of the dark ages and supposed to be civilised, women can go about their daily lives without being subjected to harrassment because of their sex surely? its the 21st century, not the 1970s

My birth mother (not my real mother who fostered me) was 91 when she was put into a old folks home in Cleethorpes . She escaped one Sunday and I got a phone call from a local food pub who did Sunday lunch , She had flagged down a Taxi and arrived there , She then ordered full Sunday Lunch and three whiskeys , The lunch was eaten , the whiskeys supped , the bill presented and then it was reveiled that she was skint no money . "Phone my son in Sheffield "She said , " He will pay " , They did and I told em to pithe off . We had not met until she was 90 and she was not keen on seeing me then so we were not close . Any way they put her on the phone and she said in her plum in the gob accent , "How dare you not pay for your mothers lunch and drinks . I told her that as I was in Sheffield it would be a bit of a problem , She slammed the phone down . Any way she never returned to the old folks home , The pub arranged a car to take her to her home where she remained until she died at 99 years old . I visited her on a few occasions in my three wheeler Reliant Robin , She refused to ride in it saying it was unsafe . Until I said "well I am going to the Coach House for lunch " She was in that three wheeler like streak lightning , her first words on entering , "Get your mother a whiskey " Her local shop kept her pension book . she would phone them and Tell!!! them to deliver her supply's . The supplies were usually a bottle of sherry or a bottle of Scotch . She died at 99 penny less ,

In your country Article 37 of the Dominican Constitution: "The right to life is inviolable from the moment of conception and until death." Abortion is completely illegal in your country in any event and punishable by 2-10 years in jail. You say "... abortion is available on demand at clinics and hospitals here. and is a common practice amongst younger females." So which view is correct? You or your Government,Constitution or Law. To save you even further wriggling discomfort you should know that: Your information is out of date. Your government withdrew the exceptions applied to 'deformity', threat to mothers life, rape and incest. Your president reneged on his election promise to liberalize some abortion laws. Your police since 2012 arrest women seeking medical after an illegal abortion.

Im very sorry to hear about your neighbours but It was clearly a joke. You're finding a problem where there isn't one and before you ask, Yes I lost someone close to dementia. It's not pretty and there are much better ways to go but I'm Not offended about a joke on an Internet forum. Life is too short.

You have an interesting set of beliefs. On the one had you think we should have suppressed society in a draconian and unprecedented manner to save as many lives as possible, regardless of the cost, which (even if it worked, which is debatable.....) was FAR higher than the NHS would ordinarily spend keeping anyone alive. But on the other hand you give the impression the lives of unborn babies (totally innocent remember...) are worth nothing to you. The only common theme is your willingness to trample on others personal freedoms. Bit selfish that. Wrong as ever

Oh Patricia, I share your pain. I mean offence to no-one but I'm always putting my foot in it... Language has become another battle ground, (like we needed another,) but it is important. I just wish it wouldn't keep changing all the time while people make up their minds what is acceptable. It's hard to keep up....

The problem is no matter what term you use, someone is going to (probably pretend to) get offended because you have actually used the term in the first place. "Waaah waaah waaah would you have mentioned it if they were white?" Halibut used to enjoy doing similar on here.

@pattriciais not asking how to power down the iPad, but if she should, and has already accepted the recommendation not to bother.
  49. 1 point
I will probably be told I'm 'not an expert', but I've had an iPad forever (well, a good 12 years+). There is no benefit at all in totally powering it down completely unless it is needed to clear a bug - happens very rarely these days, or unless you are not going to be using it for an extended period - more than 10 days, I would suggest. Also, continually powering it down and back up could shorten its life by stressing components at shutdown/startup. And you will have to wait for it to start - which is a pain. So, just leave it in 'sleep' mode.
