If you use an argument that somehow you are better than me because you worked a shop floor role for 50 years that implies you would have taken something better had it been offered therefore I assume something better wasn't offered and you have to wonder why. If someone choose to do their job for however long because they were happy doing it then that makes them better than most people. I just get totally annoyed with people in here with the attitude that if you earn less than them somehow you are undeserving and lazy but if you earn more than them you are the rich elite and out of touch. Gomeg posts in a manner that implies he is angry at what life has dealt him. I am saying that if in 50 years he wasn't happy where he was then surely something better would have come along? And if it didn't i wonder why that was. If he was indeed happy with his job for that time and that's why he didn't change then I genuinely admire him as I'm someone who moves role every few years due to boredom and that exposes me to high risk and I often wish I was happy with what I have. Good for you being retired. Enjoy the state pension my generation won't have. Perhaps if you'd applied yourself more you wouldn't have had to have worked on the tools for 50 years as you seem to feel miffed about it. To be honest I think you do the right thing. I have changed jobs on average after around 5 years as in my experience being in a job too long leads to boredom, complacency and unhappiness. I know many who are just like that and would do well with a change. Some jobs however you don't change such as being a doctor, accountant or lawyer. I believe it should also apply to politics and that PM's, MP's and the Lords should also be subject to a time limit, and only stand for the maximum of 3 terms. Are they wrong? Honest question. I'm where I am due to a series of poor decisions I made, not because of the eu, not because of Cameron or Blair or brown or even thatcher. As an aside I don't think the eu or any future prime minister will make my life better. Will leaving the eu or a different prime minister make your life better? It’s nowt to do with socialism except when you think everybody is a socialist, it is a core liberal principle that one can and should apply themselves to their ability and achieve this through schooling.
