No idea what i did there but never mind. I see the First No.36 is still suspended leaving residents - mainly elderly - of Wincobank without access to Firth Park or Meadowhall without having to walk a considerable distance uphill on the way back. Initially it said 'this service will not resume' and now it's 'this service is suspended'. Already emailed First and got a cut and paste reply from Leeds. It's hard to believe anyone running First has ever actually driven a bus around Sheffield. I'm 5 minutes away from my parents by car yet it would take them 90 minutes and 3 buses to get to me under their own steam. And now even longer if the 36 doesn't resume. It was already a joke because drivers took it on themselves to decide whether they could be bothered to do the Standon Road loop. * No spoiler, I hit the icon in error (standing up to type - bad idea) and couldn't delete.

Trams currently suspended to Meadowhall due to the water level under the bridge after Meadowhall South/Tinsley and tram trains not running to Rotherham due to flooding on the railway line and Rotherham station. Single line running again between Meadowhall South/Tinsley and Arena until further notice.

Metal flood barriers were installed around Meadowhall on the river side after the 2007 floods; you can see them around the back of the Oasis. They also replaced the iron gates on the footbridge to protect the road when the wall on Meadowhall Road was built up as part of the flood defences following the floods.

Saw the Apple car today on our road.

This is interesting because I parked there earlier this year - maybe the end of February - and I didn't see anything telling me I had to obtain a ticket, I didn't get issued with a ticket/invoice, didn't see a ticket machine, and I would easily have been parked outside Tesco for over an hour and would've walked around all 3 sides of the car park on my usual charity shop route!

Love *sarcasm* that they paved all the way along Pond Street, including a vehicle entrance to the back of Hallam Uni and the entrance to the NCP car park with no dropped kerbs or anything to alert pedestrians/drivers alike that there is potential danger there. Hallam has put warning signs up but nothing as yet at the NCP.

I had blurred vision one day last year and without hesitation went to the opticians but of course they don't just check you out, they do a full eye test and charge you, so I guess next time I would try and get in my GP's first. As it turned out, I was diagnosed with labyrinthitis a couple of weeks later (a symptom of which is blurred vision and was likely an early indicator) so where the optician just said I had dry eyes and needed drops, I actually ended up signed off work, on tablets and unable to drive for 2 weeks.

It was lovely in the park itself; perfect weather, fabulous turn-out, a great atmosphere and collective goosebumps when the big screen showed pictures of the various planes taking off to make the journey. I missed a pic of the Dakota but got the rest on video. A bit more volume on the big screen would have helped but it wasn't hard to follow. It was a shame perhaps that they were trying to conduct a memorial service at the same time as the live broadcast was going on, as there was disgruntlement near us that the bugler played the Last Post but the BBC kept on broadcasting (I imagine the presenters weren't aware of everything that was going on behind them at the time). That seemed a bit ill-planned but I guess they wanted to take advantage of the big audience, rather than maybe wait till the live broadcast had ended, as I imagine most people left after the flypast and applause for Tony. Someone posted a pic on Twitter yesterday morning of Tony back in the park as usual, cheering on the parkrunners as they passed him. I saw 12000 in the park quoted on social media, plus I imagine a good few thousand more across not just Sheffield but all along the route, and the TV audience was 3.28 million which was apparently the first time a programme broadcast at 9am got more than all the the programmes after 9pm! BBC Breakfast also tweeted footage filmed by the Comic Relief crew, of Dan Walker watching from Tanzania blubbing his eyes out.

Oops. I've often parked in Drakehouse and walked down to Peaks when their car parks have been full. I've also shopped in Homebase as well, on my return to the car but not always. Ta for the heads-up.

Yikes I went through them late at about 4pm on Saturday and they were off then. The Blackburn Road signals were on, don't know whether Kimberworth/Meadowbank Road signals were working, but definitely the north end of the viaduct, and the ones at the junction with Meadowhall Road weren't working.

Charles Street at Arundel Gate - soooooooooo many arrogant/ignorant drivers. Cars exiting the Q-Park and turning right around the bollards instead of the 'left only' - see also turning left on to Arundel Gate instead of 'right turn only' which involves cutting across the pedestrian crossing while they have the green man. Cars coming down Charles Street - where it's one-way UP after the car park entrance - turning left from the new office block underground car park there, and also from Union Street/Norfolk Street so again driving around the bollards. Cars coming out of Charles Street either oblivious to or just plainly ignoring the traffic lights. The number of people who just creep out looking for a gap in the traffic is unreal. And finally, cars exiting the car park and for some inexplicable reason seeing the slip lane FROM Arundel Gate and going down that the wrong way. 😲 Similarly the one-way/priority system around Arundel Street, many drivers get to the crossroads with Charles Street and chuck a left towards the car park instead of going back and entering it the right way. And never mind signs - traffic lights these days just change colour.

Went to Kelham Island today and was quite disappointed. The weather didn't help, but there were no fairground rides as there have been in previous years, there were a lot less stalls and more gaps, and some of the artisan people like the woodworkers, blacksmiths, etc., weren't there. I realise it's on tomorrow as well so maybe they're there then but definitely not as good as it has been.

Yep heard whatever it was flying low over Shiregreen - also thought the worst for a moment till it gained height!

The only sticker that got put on our bin was the blue one, notifying us that the previous scheme had ended and the brown bins were due to arrive. Then we got a leaflet when the brown bin arrived, which was perfectly clear and has a full schedule of collections in. That said, some neighbours obviously didn't get it and kept putting the brown bin out with whichever bin was actually due to be collected the actual brown bin day, which for us was last Friday

Surely all humps should be a regulation size/height? The ones on Sicey Avenue vary from barely there to the north face of the Eiger. I mean, I love crawling over them to wind up the tailgaters because otherwise I clip the front skirt on my car, but they're a joke. The speed cushions I can deal with.

Our blue bins were also collected Sunday morning (11th) and again on Friday (16th) which I weirdly half-expected them not to be, ironically. Unfortunately now our gate lock is frozen solid and I can't get the bin back in the garden!

Most mornings on the way to work I have a run-in with someone in the wrong lane, or trying to get across it diagonally by lane-hopping. Even if you're not familiar with Sheffield in general, if you want to go right on a roundabout you get in the right-hand lane; you don't skip merrily across all 4 lanes at the last minute when you realise you're wrong. And yes, it does work so much better when the traffic lights are out. Y'know, like a proper roundabout!! PS, that woman not letting you cut in or out because you made a basic driving error - that's me. Feel free to gesticulate all you want.

Mine has been on permanently for at least 2 years now. Have had various bits done at the garage, including a new oxygen sensor, the light goes off for about half an hour and then comes back on again. Garage told me as long as the car is performing fine, it's OK - currently up to 89000+ miles and 17 years old.

Lunchtime service in most places is rubbish, there's no concept that the customers might just be on the clock and not everyone gets flexi!

Probably the same place as the half-dozen motorists I saw on Friday alone, leave the Q Park on Charles Street, sail across the white stop line and instead of waiting for the traffic lights, just look for a gap in the traffic coming along Arundel Gate and go (or indeed perform an illegal right turn to go up Charles Street to Union Street OR just drive down Charles Street from Union Street which has been one-way from that direction for some time now). Phenomenal sense of ignorance and entitlement. ---------- Post added 05-02-2017 at 16:11 ---------- Or stay in the right hand lane because somewhere in the next few miles they intend to turn right (think the entire length of Prince of Wales Road). Or indeed just because being in the perceived 'slow lane' is beneath them.

Apparently the one meant to come at 12.30 went to the wrong house, but instead of phoning while he was there to check the address, he went back home and phoned me at 5pm, initially saying I'd given him the wrong house number. Can anyone recommend a garden fencing company? So far I've tried 3, 2 of which are in a mile radius of where we live (S5) have failed either to phone to arrange an appointment or arranged to call and then not turned up. The other one (picked up from the forum) was supposed to come at 12.30 today and didn't turn up.

Tweet from @SCCStreetsAhead to me to say it's closed " Hi the road is closed due to flooding at present. Once the flood ban has been lifted, the road will be re-opened". Still waiting on a response to "When is something going to be done about it?" Travelling along Penistone Road towards Netherthorpe at about 2pm, it seemed one or two sets of traffic lights were out of sync/staying red too long (just an observation, I'm not a traffic light engineer ) so traffic going down Netherthorpe towards Penistone Road was being held longer and this had a knock-on effect on Brook Hill roundabout (which was blocked when I reached it) and presumably back down Upper Hanover Street/Hanover Way and beyond.
