Sheffield 'The Sugar Cube'

Recommended Posts

We are talking about a car park aren't we? :suspect:

1/ Why isn't it underground?

2/ Why isn't it underground?

3/ Why isn't it underground?

4/ Why does it look cheap and dated and sixties like?

5/ Why isn't it underground?

6/ Why does it look crap

In answer to 1, 2, 3, 5: it's much more expensive to build underground than on the surface. I would agree that car parks can never be beautiful, but they can be iconic, such as Gateshead Multi-Storey. Part of British cinema history, no less, and like most of our postwar heritage it's going to be knocked down.

A bold design for Sheffield. Better looking than the new University Dept of Music on Gell Street.

Yep Moorfoot/Manpower is coming down, supposedly. This is what happens when "inspired, falward thinking, striking, futuristic, vibrant, exciting, contemporary" buildings like this come to the end of their very short life span (under 30 years).

This cheese grater thing is the Moorfoot/council eggboxes of the future.:loopy:

Landscape out of bladerunner here we come....!!

which is the brown one near the moor? thats awful. it looks so depressing. why is sheffield rubbish at designing decent buildings! they are all so mismatched.

Well if you want buildings designed to fit into their surroundings then that turd coloured carpark fits into the heritage of the Moor perfectly.
