Any good ways to cook tofu ?
Ginger_Kitty replied to MuteWitness's topic in Padders' Bar: General Discussions
I think I once bought pre-marinated tofu for a vegan i had to cook for, she preferred the marinated ones as it gave it a bit more flavour. Cut it into chunks and fry it gently so it doesn't break up and add it to whatever meateaters would normally add diced chicken to. She seemed happy with it anyway!!! -

OCTOBER?????????????? -
Please all pay your council tax on time!
Ginger_Kitty replied to Sony's topic in Padders' Bar: General Discussions
I'm a full time student, so exempt from council tax, from october last year my housemate paid it after my reduction. My housemate moved out this month, told the council and told them I was staying on, alone in this house. On saturday I recieved a bill for over £200 to be paid by 31st Jan!!!! I phoned the council on monday morning, to be told (after 3 attemts at looking) that they had no record of my student status and I would have to fill in the relevant forms and get a letter from my university etc again!!! I was ever so slightly annoyed at this, and told them so. I also sent them an email AND filled in a complaint form about it. The next day I got a nice polite phonecall, saying that my student status and all the paperwork is atached to my file, and the council woman couldn't see where the problem was in the first place!!!???!!!! She sorted it, and told me to ignore the bill, thankfully, and a new one would be sent. Why is it that some people are completely unable to sort things out, when all the information is there, they can't see it!!!??? The first person I spoke to was adamant that it was not there and I'd have had to go out of my way to correct one of their mistakes again (I had this prob with them as an undergrad student too)!!!! Grrrrrrrr I wish the Council would employ people who are capable of the job they are in, especially when they are answering enquiries from even more confused people!!!! ok rant over -
Balanced Diets, anyone got one?
Ginger_Kitty replied to Fletch's topic in Padders' Bar: General Discussions
I tend to try and aim for the reccommended 5 portions of fruit and /or veg a day (a portion is about the amount you can hold in your hand, and 5 apples don't count, you have to vary it), a reasonable amount of calcuim (soya products have a little more calcium than dairy, but don't necessarily taste as nice) and try to make sure that my main meal is approx 1/3 protein, 1/3 carb and 1/3 veg, that way you're getting enough of each but not too much. -
on the same subject as the above, I noticed the label on a well known make of swimming costume warned you not to use it in chlorinated water or sunlight!!!!!

My parents got this a few years ago, they 'won' a free carpet cleaning, so obviously they said yes, expecting there to be a catch, there was, it took ages to get rid of the two 17yr olds who had cleaned the carpet (round the furniture i might add, so it was patchy and not a proper job) as they tried to sell may parents a vac. Not daft though my parents, only one call to the boss was allowed, and that was listened to and time limited, the pair failed in selling but only because my parents were expecting what came and knew how to deal with it. sorry to hear about your friend kirky

Switching mobile phone providers - keeping number
Ginger_Kitty replied to Bad_Hair_Day's topic in Computer & Tech Chat
I switched from T mobile PAYG to Tesco PAYG and kept my number, so its possible that way, best way to do it is phone the network you want to change to and ask them. -
Nobody stocks anything anymore!
Ginger_Kitty replied to Lickszz's topic in Padders' Bar: General Discussions
I saw an offer on a Comet for the washing machine I've been after for a couple of weeks, only £179 instead of £250!!! However Ive seen these things before, they advertise them as 'in stores now' but the stores only get about 3 of em, and when they're gone they're gone!!!! So instead I went to the internet and ordered that way, at least then I'm sure to get it without having to trail round 15 different shops in my search. Be warned though, I discovered (the hard way) that not all offers etc are available online, the website said free removal of old appliances was available if requested on ordering, I didn't get the option to request that when I ordered!! I ended up phoning them to ask about it and was told that the option is not available for online ordering because of the other offers that apply to online orders, so I quoted their webpage at them and was grudgingly given free removal of my old washer....but a week after my new one is delivered!!!! -

Ginger_Kitty replied to jonsastar's topic in Padders' Bar: General Discussions
Garlic and chilli!! If I frequently (once or twice a week) eat curry, chilli or anything with garlic and/chilli in I get less colds. If I don't, I get colds -

What's /what was your craving?
Ginger_Kitty replied to ladyovmanor's topic in Padders' Bar: General Discussions
My mum never had any cravings with me or my little bro, she just went off things, mainly the unhealthy things like coffee and fried food, she couldn't even stand the smell of a frying pan warming up, never mind the smell of food in it!!!! -
I have my bed against the wall so instead of getting pushed out I end up getting squished!!!!!!! Think I might have to think about rearranging my room.... though I can't figure out which is the worst, floor or wall??? :help:

I got my car broken into while I was out in the Peak district, the police were called AND arrived and stayed til they had had the cctv checked and we got ourselves sorted. They also came out the next day to fingerprint the car (ok so they dusted the wrong bits, but they tried). They even rang a few weeks later to check we had got everything sorted and to let us know they had not had any success finding the thieving little ***s (that wasn't a surprise)!!! Maybe I was lucky, or maybe Derbyshire police routinely do a better job, but i was pleasantly surprised by their efforts.
