  1. if only winter lasted for 9 months!!! I know it does seem like it sometimes but I have to take antihistamines most of the year apart from a few months in the middle of winter, sadly its not long enough!!!
  2. I'm September born, my bro is April born, we both suffer as badly, tho we both spent a good 10 years living next to jn36 of the A1(M). I still suffer badly from air quality now i've moved away from it.
  3. Apparently the pollen level this year is the highest its ever been, due to climate change as usual!! I've been inside for the last couple of days suffering the consequences of going out for a walk on sunday daren't even open a window!!! had to empty the bins earlier, spent the next half hour sneezing!! Its not just you !!!!
  4. Oi!!!!!! we only get muddy when we're digging!!! (which sadly isn't often enough) well some of us anyway... sadly yes, you can normally spot an archaeologist at a thousand paces...
  5. I've had the worst hayfever i've had all year today, i feel terrible... its not working!! might cheer up if we get a good thunderstorm though
  6. Nope, its just you, i'm having no problems at all!!!
  7. I've had to fast for a cholesterol test, nothing to eat from 10pm night before, test sometime next morning...
  8. there's a PYO strawberry place on the road between Ecclesfield and the M1...
  9. Ditto to the dissertation thing might get a holiday in october tho
  10. Timo, read my post again, yes i mentioned i'm asthmatic, but i didn't say that my hayfever affects it or vice versa: Thats not asthma, thats hayfever (apart from the stitches!!!) I'm afraid for me, not being able to see clearly, being woken constantly at 5- 5.30 am with constant sneezes, having a constant sore throat and tiredness is more along the lines of an everyday nightmare. I'm not saying its the worst that things could be, I know, i have worse problems, but for someone who is fit and healthy to be disabled by a simple allergy is horrible, its not just as easy as taking a tablet and carrying on (Nick2) I have 2 tablets a day of the best antihistamine that i can find and i'm still suffering fairly badly. oh and BTW i know the difference between a respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest and heart attack ta!!!
  11. It'll probably add some meat content to em!!!
  12. its not just a matter of whether you can afford to buy them, by going via the doctor who knows your medical history they can advise you of the best options and other medications that the pharmacist may not know you take that could interfere etc... you might also be able to get things that are not available over the counter. OK if your hayfever is mild, you never have to go to the doc for anything else, take no other medication and don't mind shelling out a fortune for half a week's tablets then bypass the doc!!! Remember prescriptions do cost over £6 each now too, its not like they're free!!!
  13. Putting it in the freezer is probably the best thing for it, (museums do it all the time) but seal it in a heavy duty plastic bag first....just so nothing escapes into other things in the freezer I seem to have carpet beetles (little black and white ladybirdy things) but i have no carpets!!!!!!
  14. YAYAYAYYAYAYYAYAYAYYY!!!!!
  15. medications and doctors aren't just for the life threatening you know.. they are there to improve quality of life too!!!!
  16. I might have to try that... tho I must admit, i'm sneeziest at 5am and late evening when the air temperature is moving the pollen about, don't know if i'm capable of thinking that sensibly at that time in the morning!!! Sorry you are having to suffer this year, must be agony!!! Do you really need dairy while you're pregnant? will soya stuff not do?? beconase makes me sneeze!!! how daft is that!!!
  17. Timo, you obviously never have had hayfever bad have you!!! Anyway, I've been suffering fairly badly the last few days, we suddenly get some nice warm weather (tho actually a bit hot and sunny for my pale freckly skin) and the pollen goes mad!!! I was fine up until this weekend, then the eyes, started, and not just itching, but watering, swollen and blurred (you try driving like that!!!! ) the sneezing is fun at 5.30am when you've recently had stitches in your abdomen and the sore throat, itchy ears, general tiredness etc just top it all off!!! I cut out dairy for the summer and I find this at least makes a difference to the congestion in my head. the best cure i've found is steroids again (prescribed for my asthma) but I can only get a week's worth when my breathing is really bad so its no good for the whole summer, sadly the steroid injection is apprently only good for people in absolute peak fitness (army/navy etc) becuase of the side effects. if the tablet you're on doesn't help go to your doctor/pharmacy and get a different one, as with most drugs some things work for some people and not for others. Em xx
  18. Just had the police round doing house to house enquiries!!!! sadly could tell them nothing
  19. oh thats what it was!!!! it was just a few yards up from my house!! the only thing I saw was a little silver soft-top noddy-car being carted away on the back of a truck. I had a lovely visitor (evildrneil) arrive just after, and he said it looked like the car had pulled out of Ingelow Road and hit something, but without wandering up the road to gawp, we didn't find out any more than that. Em xx
  20. I know its a bit far out, but if its your dad's kinda thing Brodsworth Hall in Doncaster has a vintage car show on sunday (only 45min drive I promise!) http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/ConEvent.1001 I must admit my family also hates the hype of things dreamt up by card manufacturers, therefore we don't give them our money and create our own cards Em xx
  21. I had one recently that included 2 months-worth of broadband charges, despite the fact that I don't and can't use broadband (THEY tested the line and told me that after I ordered it). I phoned up to tell them and it was explained to me in very slow simple language that I had 2 month worth on the bill cos i ordered it after the last bill went out and they charge a month in advance... fine... but i don't HAVE broadband... they were very confused!!!! Needless to say they have since cancelled it and refunded me, but its a good job i take notice of the details of my bill or it would just have been automatically paid. Why the hell didn't they cancel the order when they told me a can't have BB? its far too easy for them to just hope i'll ignore it and give them the money!!!! grrrr....
  22. I'm plannin on spending the weekend in bed with the B/F running round looking after me well ok, I am having abdominal surgery on friday (day surgery, eeek) so I will have an excuse
  23. I must admit, I always thought that making a list seemed like more of a demand. I personally probably wouldn't bother with one. However my friend has been in her own house now for about 4 years, her man moved in a couple of years ago, so technically they don't NEED anything for setting up home. However, their list includes the things that they want to replace, as grateful as she was for the things she was given when she first moved in, they now want things that belong to them both, and have some sort of 'matching' element just to make their house their own, in this way I think a wedding list can be a good idea... personally I think I'll end up getting them a little something from the list and something else a little more personal
  24. thanks for all that I think I can probably do the making sure she's ok thing... (I'm expecting her to repay the favour sometime;)) lol the flirting with the best man is out... partly cos my better half will also be there (accompanying my mum ) and also cos I think the best man is a best woman, and although flirting with a woman isn't beyond me I think it might freak out the rest of the party The present really is the biggest thing (Though at least my b/f should be able to chip in a bit too) as I'm crap at present buying and its also her birthday 3 weeks later!!! (eeeek, two meaningful presents at once!!!!) Still, I'll have a peek at the list and see what there is and play it from there! Thanks again
  25. OMG!!!! thats soo mean!!! I had to tick the 26-35 box...now I feel so OLD!!!!!
