  1. My username is the shortened version of my name and my date of birth, I always used it as an email address so just kept it on here (now none of you have an excuse to forget my birthday!!!! and my age...dammit ) the avatar is my exhousemate's dog who went missing in janaury, we never did find her but i like the pic so its staying for now. Em
  2. I tried beconase years back, it made me sneeze so much more!!! kinda defeats the object I have tried the diet thing tho, and from the moment my hayfever starts I cut out all milk and milk products (I don't eat egg so i'm not sure if that would make a difference too) and although it kills me to not have pizza and cheese for the summer I do find that it makes the hayfever so much more bearable. Em xx
  3. I've been convinced for the last couple of days that i've been coming down with a cold, today i noticed that not only is my throat sore but its also itchy as are my ears (my first signs of hayfever) which makes me think its not a cold but hayfever already!!! the annoying thing is that its started in the last couple of days, when i've spent the previous 10 outside all day in the welsh mountains with absolutely no symptoms whatsoever!!!!! grrrr.... just as an extra, i discovered a new antihistamine last year that is the first one thats ever worked for me (others took away some of the symptoms but this one got most of them) its NeoClarityn (the old clarityn was useless) and it works wonders!!! ask your doc to try it! Em xx
  4. it always seemed like an hour and a half...maybe it was because i normally went from doncaster.... *hangs head in shame*
  5. Isn't there a train from sheffield? goes right to manchestar airport, takes about an hour and a half i think and runs every hour.
  6. I spoke to a newspaper photographer last year who had a Nikon D70 and a Canon-something else, he said the D70 was the best camera he'd ever had, its good enough for a professional AND cheap enough and easy (?) enough for an amateur The problem with Canons (i think) is if you buy lots of lenses they will only ever fit a Canon, the lenses you have for something like a D70 will fit other cameras if you decided to upgrade again in the future.
  7. Surely the IVF system is stretched enough just providing help for those who cannot have children naturally; proposing treatment for those who can have children and just want to be more fussy about the type they get is just going to stretch it even further, possibly preventing those who simply want ONE child!!!
  8. I remember reading the label of a sunny delight bottle once, I discovered that one of the ingredients is vegetable oil WHY????????
  9. You are right, Wincobank is a scheduled ancient monument, any disturbance of the ground is illegal. You must get permission from the landowner before detecting anywhere, and unless you have a written agreement, anything you find on a persons land technically belongs to them (unless it is nice and spectacular and classed as treasure - then it belongs to the crown) You should take all your finds to a museum (when it is open) and let them make a note of them (what they are, how old they are) and the findspot (6 figure grid ref is very useful), they will then let you have the finds back unless you want to loan/sell them to the museum. If you have all the proper permissions to detect and do not detect in illegal areas it should be a fun and rewarding hobby, but please be responsible and report all your finds as they are all archaelogically important!!!!! Have fun
  10. I'm driving from Parson Cross (Barnsley road/Ecclesfield end of Parson Cross) to the city centre as I'm at the archaeology dept on West Street. Takes me 10 mins to drive thru to city centre, the spare 20 mins is for parking and walking down to West Street. The bus (75 or 76) takes a minimum 30 mins in good traffic and I still have to walk about the same distance as I would from my car. Em
  11. I considered the fact that whether I used the bus or not I'd be paying the same amount of road tax and the same amount of insurance on my car, I also park in free places so there is no extra cost there. There may be a little more wear and tear on my car at the end of the day, but I consider it worth it when I gain usually at least an hour every day (I have to leave myself an hour to get into uni by bus, by car I only need half an hour) and as a student, an extra hour's study time a day is a valuable thing!! It was a very considered decision and I did take a while to weigh up how much I would be paying week by week, in the end the car won! Em
  12. Its already above £2.50 if i want to travel before 9am, which i do have to, i also don't travel in every day so it makes the weekly ticket just as bad. For the price of a day saver ticket I can get 30 miles in my car.... what would you do????
  13. I decided when I became a student again that I'd go in to uni on the bus instead of being lazy and taking my car... however, I soon worked out that at no less than £2.50 a day busfare it was cheaper to take the car, its quicker, costs less and I can park near to uni for free busfares going up again just means they are pushing me more to the car and less towards public transport, keep going, i love my lil car
  14. I'd call evildrneil for any question that involved bondage and /or bears there ya go neil
  15. There's a few places just inside Derbyshire if you don't mind travelling that far. Riber Hall and Eyam Hall are just a couple (don't know how expensive they are tho!!!) Not that I've been looking
  16. I met my mum and a friend out at Hathersage and had a nice 5 mile walk in the sunshine and fresh air (I'm trying to prevent the evil flu thing taking hold...its trying!!!) Then I went off to cheer the b/f up who has REAL man-flu Em
  17. lol mine gets called many things...none of them repeatable on a family forum!!!
  18. My little (25 yr old) brother has been on and off drugs more times than I can remember, I've now got to the point where I don't care what he does to his body anymore, he knows what he's doing every time he steals/sells stuff to get more drugs, and he knows what it does to my parents. They have given him chance after chance and are also at breaking point and have completely run out of patience. I worry about them! He has been in prison at the age of 17 (mum has shopped him more than once - tho not on the occasion he got sent down) and had such a huge overdose at 20 that it technically killed him, he's only here now because of the quick actions of paramedics. mrchinnery, I know exactly how you feel, I never want to see him again and I wish he'd stop calling my parents or turning up on their doorstep every time he gets himself into trouble. I agree its not right to blame the dealers alone, they are just supplying what is demanded by people who know exactly what they are doing when they buy it. Em
  19. My mum demands that I get her nothing so yesterday I took her for a nice walk in the peak in the snow and told her that was her pressie.... the CD I got her will arrive just as she thinks I really did get her nothing!!!
  20. <---rather cute and very old dog used to let off a silent-but-deadly, wag her tail like mad to waft it round the room then run off to escape the fumes!!! either that or she'd manage a not-quite-silent-but-still-as-deadly, make herself jump with the noise and run off somewhere safe!!!! awww... I miss the poor lil dog!!!
  21. There IS a road that goes from just beyond Morrisons in Ecclesfield to the M1 jn35 missing chapeltown entirely its a bit uneven and not the best road in the world but it does bypass Chapeltown!!! Em xx
  22. Spoke to my mum earlier (Warmsworth/Balby/A1(M) area), the main roads round her are all ok, but its still forecast more snow later so you might get there but not home again. hope that helps Em
  23. Apparently the road through Grindleford and at Fox House is also fairly bad. Damn that means i'll have to stay stranded in the Peak district instead of going home to lovely Parson Cross!!!
  24. I come from Doncaster *hangs head in shame* but I can't talk for everyone from that lovely town... We always used the back door rather than the front, partly because the front door was always stiff and hard to open, but also it separated the callers into those who knew us and those who didn't. Those who knew us would come round and knock on the back door as they knew that was the one we used, those who didn't would knock on the front (and were more likely to be ignored - esp if they looked like salesmen!!!!) I now live in Sheffield and HAVE to use my front door as the door/gateway to the back is locked from the inside for security.
