  1. ooh can't believe no one replied to this! I have been couchsurfing all over the world and its fantastic!! I travelled alone, and didn't have any problems with anyone i stayed with... though i did make sure to read the profiles of the people carefully, and look for people i actually had an interest in meeting. I've moved to Sydney now, though back here for a holiday, and our CS group over there is awesome! Great social life and really cool people Go try it!
  2. Hello, I have posted before about Morsbags - saying no to plastic bags & making your own Morsbag instead... but this time i really urge you to help with the cause. Morsbags have the opportunity to give Virgin Trains 1000 morsbags by the end of June for them to hand out for free to the public in conjunction with their green campaign. If you would like to help, or for more info please visit http://www.morsbags.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=150 or http://www.morsbags.com Thank you!!
  3. If you are running Sheffield Half Marathon, please consider raising money for Sheffield Wildlife Trust. We are one of the official charities! It’s not too late! You will get a lovely red vest to run in! You can set up your own sponsorship web page here - www.justgiving.com/wildsheffield It automatically adds Gift Aid, and the money gets paid straight into the Trust bank account - saving you the hassle of collecting all the money afterwards! Good luck in the race!! Contact Nicky Moore on 0114 263 4335 or email n.moore@wildsheffield.com alternatively, donate to an existing runner - http://www.justgiving.com/jennyandrachel http://www.justgiving.com/deborahbeck http://www.justgiving.com/mikethebadger Thank you!
  4. I now have my own sewing machine, and made my first bag last weekend, sewing is a bit wonky but i am proud! Taught my housemate last night, and she's very good already. We'll be wizzing these Morsbags out in no time! If anyone would like to join in, please do - you're welcome to come over, i live in Hillsborough, right on the tram line. Bring your sewing machines, spare material & i'll supply the wine! I'm collecting spare fabric too so if anyone knows a good place to get any, please let me know
  5. Its the international horse trials at Chatsworth, not sure if thats everyones cup of tea, but it was packed last year.
  6. Can anyone recommend a good shop which sells used office furniture please? I'm looking for a lockable wooden cabinet/cupboard, and a cupboard or shelving unit about 6ft high. Its for a charity, so don't want to pay too much. thanks
  7. Does anyone know where i can buy a second hand, or cheap sewing machine which is suitable for a beginner - just to do straight lines mostly! Also it should be compact, as i don't have a lot of space. I've tried freecycle but haven't had any replies yet. If anyone wants to loan me one for a couple of months, that would do too. Thanks
  8. There are some photos on the Morsbag forum - http://www.morsbags.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=75 We're trying to start a Sheffield Pod (social group to make bags) and there are a few interested, but more are welcome & esp those who have sewing machines! Pods info here - http://www.morsbags.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=7
  9. Hi, I wondered if your group would be interested in making some bags to help reduce the number of plastic bags there are in the UK? For more info please visit http://www.morsbags.com
  10. Yeah i'd be up for going with you pete, my other half has hurt his hand & the doc has told him to give climbing a rest for 3 weeks! Nooooo!
  11. I've got some 7.5 size shoes (La Sportiva) if your interested, they're really comfy style of shoe, they are just bit too small for me and have only been worn a few times, i now have the same shoes in a size 8. I would try eBay & other online stores, you can get some good bargains for climbing gear. Found Planet Fear to be expensive & the guy was a bit patronising in there too!
  12. Have you been yet? I'd recommend going, its a great place - friendly people & relaxed atmosphere.
  13. Leftover from World War ll sparks Bomb Squad UXB drama - http://www.sheffieldtoday.net/ViewArticle.aspx?ArticleID=2130564&SectionID=58
  14. Its got a huge box to put your postcode in lol And i agree, i bet they had to have at least 6 months worth of meetings with lots of bigwigs to come up with that crappy questionnaire! Isn't the council supposed to be meeting these anyway, as government set targets? Why should the public pay more money to make sure they meet their targets? Where is our tax money going?
  15. that looks like great fun! you might have more luck for lifts posting on the Lonely Planet message board see here - http://thorntree.lonelyplanet.com/ Or Bug Ride here - http://europe.bugride.com/
