  1. I have a Hunch that you may have a point there. Where have all the Quasimodos of the World gone. I wonder?
  2. I will never trust my son in law ever again, after reading that.
  3. Coronation Street Star??? It must be 50 odd years since he was on there. Unless of course, he is one of many who returned. I haven't watched in years but I heard Dennis Tanner came back and he was a mate of Jed Stone (Cope) in the show.
  4. "No buts, it's got to be butter". Remember that one?
  5. But would you have done what he did after signing? No officer would order a subordinate to do what he did, trained or not.He sacrificed himself to save others, no one can ever take that away from him.May he rest in peace.
  6. I have read about people successfully coming off heroin going cold turkey. Eric Clapton locked himself away for a long stretch in the early 80s and cleaned himself of heroin and alcohol. He swears he became a better entertainer and a better person and opened a rehab centre in Antigua called Crossroads.Ray Charles was also well documented as a user who quit cold turkey.
  7. According to the Washington Post a spokesman for the NRA tried ridiculing the teenage survivors of the Parkland massacre on national TV. He was talking about the organisers of the march on Washington for gun control. He said that if they had not witnessed the deaths at the school, they would be a bunch of nobodies. How low can these scumbags go to justify keeping their weapons?
  8. How do you set up drums left-handed? Not being an arse, just genuinely curious. If it was a joke,I confess to taking the bait.LOL
  9. Was that in the Batchelor's songbook, "Peas Please Me?"
  10. Probably gold plated, earning that much entry level money in 1954 Guess that's where the profit sharing went. lol
  11. I remember him always in the Old Blue Bell at lunchtimes, mid-seventies. At least when I wasn't working away, and popped in on my off days he always seemed to be there. Some lads told me it was his weekday local.
  12. Could have been that show, yes. What I remember most about her show though, was the dressing down Bernard Manning gave her. LOL ---------- Post added 22-03-2018 at 12:33 ---------- Well, you just asked it...NEXT:D
  13. Well, I am retired, but I have commuted quite a lot and gone on long drives, including Florida a few times. I cannot think why I would even own a car if I couldn't drive it. There is public transit for commuting and "trains and boats and planes" for long trips. By the way, my drives to Florida were all by me alone, the kids were too young to spell me and my wife doesn't drive.Of course, we stayed over a night in a motel about halfway. To be honest I used to enjoy it although the family were a pain sometimes with the"how much longer" stuff.
  14. Now you have reminded me of that dog that used to come on somebody's Saturday night show with its owner and it used to say "sausages." This was a long time ago as I left the country 37 years ago.
  15. Ours went forward two weeks ago and I set the microwave at bedtime the night before, that's about the only thing in the house we have to change, all the electronics do it automatically.
  16. There is nothing new here, The Maze ( Long Kesh) comes readily to mind.
  17. Nothing wrong with the caps, more like what is under them.
  18. What is the point of driverless cars anyway, I used to love driving before I got my vision problems.I cannot visualise anyone buying a car and paying insurance on it then never drive it.
  19. I watched an old concert clip of Joe Brown in Liverpool and he was toying with the crowd about collecting his MBE. He took a taxi to Buck House and was chatting with the driver. The taxi pulled up at the front and Joe says," is this the right entrance you go in to get your MBE? The driver replied, " it's the one I went in when I got mine". LOL
  20. That's the way we do it, if we have a family "do" phones are left in cars or back at their homes. We have a home phone for emergencies and that's all that is necessary. The same rule applies to one on one visits.
  21. That may be true, but is he as famous as his father? Ringo is famous as a Beatle and because of his outgoing personality, not as a superior drummer. I have no problem with his award whatsoever, he was a member of the most influential group of musicians in popular music history, that alone says enough. Congrats Ringo.
  22. Mmmmm, I could just eat a thick crust off a fresh Hovis with a ton of butter on it.
  23. My last dog gave Hitler salutes with his back leg, every time he saw a tree or a lamp post.
