  1. That game against Man. City kept me away from Hillsborough for quite a few years. I was on my own that night, standing at the Leppings Lane end, and at the final whistle I felt like the loneliest man in the world, everything went silent in an instant, a communal gobsmacking seemed to engulf the stadium. City was giving us the bloody game and we could not take it.Heartbreaking.
  2. I had one for a couple of days a few years back while I waited for insurance repairs to my own car. I can fully identify with your sentiments about "riding in a shopping trolley"
  3. Good 80s band 50/50 Brits and Yanks. Mick Jones picked a winner there. Still love " I wanna know what love is" one of the best songs ever written IMO.
  4. I don't think that option was availlable in days gone by.
  5. The last time I was in the Bell was on my 18th birthday in 1963 ( 55years ago). I always remember getting on the massive weighing scale which was located in an area en route to the toilets. I tipped off at 18 stone and froze. I started working on that and was down to 12 stone in about 2 years. What a wake up call 18 stone on your 18th birthday eh?
  6. The one next door to the Classic was The Bell. Get back on the other one, gone foggy lol Fog cleared, I believe you are thinking of the Brunswick, if you mean Haymarket Woolies. By the way a set to on the pavement could not have identified the pub, it would probably have fitted every pub in the land in those days. LOL
  7. Midnight in Harlem by Tedeschi Trucks Band, live version. Outstanding slide guitar from Derek Trucks and the usual great vocals from the missus.
  8. It ain't called the World Wide Web for nothing. Once you announce yourself to the World you are inviting everyone in, including the nuisances.
  9. In the documentary Newtown, a teary-eyed emergency room doctor told of the carnage . Of how 6-year-old youngsters had between 3 to 11 assault rifle bullets in their tiny bodies and those bullets don't pass through the body, they implode inside it, by design. Why on earth any home should have these weapons lying around is incredulous. Do you need such weapons simply to protect your family ffs?
  10. Lol, I have often wondered if the mynah bird got stuffed, it was so famous.
  11. That's totally unfair and totally wrong, Obama tried no end of times to regulate gun ownership and stood by victims families at every turn during his two terms in office. The only agreement he ever got from the yahoos in Congress was on the mental health issues.
  12. Lol, I have known quite a few bullying and rude cops, and I am talking about before I left Sheffield. Mind you I was quite rude myself, at times, during my teens.
  13. That wasn't the first time an ex-manager came to haunt us and by the same goal sequence, except that wasn't at Hillsborough but at Wembley sigh!
  14. And that book with all the fables is the book you put your hand on in court and swear to tell the truth.
  15. And The Whetstone was a "round the corner" replacement for the Travellers, if my memory is not playing tricks.
  16. What about the killer Bs, Birmingham, Burton and Bolton. lol ---------- Post added 21-02-2018 at 14:30 ---------- Well, one of Wednesday's best wins was at Villa, but it seems like that ship has sailed, for both teams.
  17. East Side Story by Squeeze. love this album produced by Elvis Costello and Sheffield's own Paul Carrack replacing Jools Holland on keys and doing a great job with the lead vocals on Tempted, which was the band's first US hit.
  18. The book of Genesis tells you all you need to know about that. Walt Disney would have a hard time bettering that fairy story. Talking snakes and ribs disappearing in the middle of the night. Poor Adam wakes up with a pain in the rib cage and an apple loving pain in the arse parked up beside him.
  19. They just stopped doing that, try to keep up or I'll send Halibut after ya.
  20. " But if dogs have a heaven, there's one thing I know, Old Shep has a wonderful home" lol
  21. She was probably looking at the front of the vehicle , where AMBULANCE is spelt as a mirror image lol
  22. Christianity is on it's way out, but other religions are gathering steam and growing rapidly e.g. Islam. I guess Christianity didn't offer any perks, like a bunch of virgins awaiting us up yonder.... eh?
  23. Why do they have to marry? There are lots of other options for smart, good-looking young ladies than being married, especially for the sake of it.There is no stigma to being single these days. This is 2018, not 1958.
