The Consequences of Brexit [part 5] Read 1st post before posting

You may have voted to leave but the majority of people in the UK did NOT vote to leave.

I say again, there is no popular support for leaving the EU which is why it is doomed to failure! :suspect:

A majority of the people in the UK whose opinion actually carries real democratic and political weight - members of the electorate who actually discharge their responsibility to vote - did so in favour of Leaving the EU.

Those who were eligible to vote but failed to do so, for whatever reason, are complicit in allowing the vote to Leave the EU to become the majority verdict. Failure to resist this verdict at the ballot box counts as a kind of sponsorship.

17.4 million votes cast in favour of leaving the EU do not, in your upside down/reality turned on its head/fake news opinion count as 'popular support'?

Truly staggering.

Another one with a bizarre idea of democracy!

Len MClusky "Look at me, I'm a democrat. I want the people to have a say as long as we only have options I support on the ballot paper!"

Was he a Stalinist in a past life? :suspect:

Attempting to smear a lifelong Socialist trades unionist has long been a tactic of the bosses.

We truly see the side the Blairite EU supporters are on. (It's not the workers).

How to disqualify your own post with one 'fake news' fact.

Yanis Varoufakis was an MP for what is essentially Greece's communist party. :loopy:

He backed the remain vote in the U.K. didn’t he? = https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/why-yanis-varoufakis-believes-britain-should-have-stayed-in-the-absolutely-awful-eu-1-9126316

I posted his link as what he is saying is interesting regardless of which party he was an mp for.

He is also an academic and not some joe blogs remainer off the street either...

Do all of those 65 million people have an equal amount of influence on the outcome of an election, or a referendum, in the UK?

No.

Only those who are eligible to vote AND discharge that right have real democratic and political influence.

Remainers need to fully understand that at elections (and referenda) it's only those who actually cast their vote/preference that can determine the result.

It's not rocket science.

That was over 2 years ago mate. A large majority of them have changed their mind's now all the leave lies and deceit have come to light. As an avid supporter of democracy i'm pretty sure you wouldn't have a problem with a second referendum (Third actually. ;)) no? What you worried about? leave will nail it won't they? after all that's what the majority want isn't it? Come on don't be scared, common sense will always prevail. ;)

65 million people in the U.K.

Why have you stated this figure? It has no relevance to UK universal suffrage.

The total number of UK parliamentary electors (those adults eligible to vote in the referendum) in December 2016 was 45,766,000.

Not 65,000,000.

Do the math.
