It will cause the other schools around to become even more crowded like it did when Abbeydale Grange closed!

Why will it cause the other schools to become more crowded?

It wold have cost 40 million to re-build Norton at Norton. It will only cost 8.8 million to re-build Norton at Hillsborough. The staff have been told zero job loses, but lets see in 8-12 mths time :suspect:

My uncle works there and I can assure you they have not been assured zero job losses.

sad to see Norton close but it really is inevitable, I went for a look around with my daughter when she was looking for a 6th form and although Norton was perfect for her A levels the building was in such a state we decided TRC was a much better option. The money needed to bring Norton up to date is not there and so ....

Travel links were pretty terrible though.

I agree. I was there between 2003-2005 and I had two choices. An excessively long journey on two buses, into Sheffield and out again - or a quicker bus through Derbyshire that got me in late. It was silly.

Is it me or are some confusing Norton College for Meadowhead School?

The college is closing, therefore it will have no impact on school places.

Both Norton College and Meadowhead School offer A-levels so there may potentially be more young people looking for a place at Meadowhead...
