Loan Shark Made Homeless

Recommended Posts

Let's have a good news story for a change. An 83 year old loan shark from Newport, Wales, is to have her house seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-68920517.amp

The best bit is that under Part 6 of the Housing Act 1986, she'll be deemed intentionally homeless and therefore not entitled to state assistance in the form of alternative accomodation.

She charged 40% interest?

A bit like Vanquis.

Yeah the irony is that while she still had her licence it was legal (although the article doesn't tell us why she lost it). Still, any bad news for a loan shark is a good news day in my book.

Wow. What a nasty old bag.

Good to see someone getting their just deserts.

She sent one customer a text which read: "Just ring me - you know I can find you," adding: "Call me, before I come looking for you."

Doesnt she have any 'boys' she can send round?

Yes, one’s 86 and the other is 92.

There is a story in the news today about another older woman made homeless:

Woman facing eviction told she would cope sleeping rough

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd18gy0yjl3o

A 56-year-old woman who is due to be evicted on 1 May has been told she should be able to "function reasonably well" if she ends up on the streets.

The letter adds: "You are a person that I am satisfied can cope and function reasonably well with ‘day to day’ living and this would, I believe, still be the case if you were to become homeless or to remain homeless.”

Bloody awful.

Shame they can't just give her the loan shark's house. Though that would involve living in Newport.
