Margaret Thatchers Funeral 17th April 2013

Recommended Posts

Would you be grumbling if it was King Arthur who had just gone to the great coalmine in the sky for the same cost?

I am not grumbling just trying to clarify matters as to where the figure has come from.

I think you have got me mixed up with another poster.

What a marvellous and respectful funeral.

The route was lined with people showing their respect for a past leader of our country.

Whether you agree with the policies of her governments or not it was a superb occasion.

Quite agree.

I don't call them "all" scrubbers because quite simply they are not .

However, the ones protesting at something they cannot change or quite often have nothing to do with usually are .

I don't think this lady is your kind of scrubber:

Ms Jones, from Poole, Dorset, a director of the cosmetics company Lush, said: "I wanted to be here today because they have turned this into a public event paid for from the public purse.

"Therefore we need to represent the wide breadth of public opinion - some of us do not wish for Margaret Thatcher to have what amounts to almost a Royal funeral."

She had called for the protesters to hold a silent demonstration along the route but said she understood that Lady Thatcher still aroused passionate emotions in her opponents.

"I guess you have to understand that there is still bitterness and anger among people affected by her policies," she said.

"I am a middle class girl from a middle class Dorset town, but my neighbours lost their homes and lost their jobs."

although she is in the soap and bubbles industry.

Why ? because they're just like sheep and can't think for themselves.

Same with voting, it's always been " my dad always voted Labour so I do "

Very good post, you may also wish to add that Harold Wilson closed over 200 pits during his time in office as opposed to Thatchers 100 ish.

Wilsons energy minister who recommended the closures was Tony Benn.

When I look at what's gone on in Goldthorpe today, it makes me ashamed to say I'm from the same species let alone the same county.

Hear Hear.

I was once told if ever the world needed an enema it would be administered via Goldthorpe.

although she and her company are well known for being "right on" socialists with socialist policies, so she would say that wouldnt she??

i dont think we should worry too much about goldthorpe and its residents?? a good bonfire is needed there anyway to clear all the rubbish!!

its also interesting to see how many actually protested ???not very many by the looks of it......or is that going to be put down by the left as being hidden from us??:suspect: a good send off and lets hope for another Maggie!!
