epiphany   10 #1 Posted January 6, 2009 I'm aware of being biased here, but I remember (only about 4-5 years ago) when mondays and saturdays were ****ing brilliant. There used to be a really good variety of metal, from classic and mainstream to more underground/extreme.  Now it's all pop, indie, emo, rip-rap etc.  Don't get me wrong, I like some indie and pop, but please, not at Corp! Where else is there to go for your thrash and grind?  Disgruntled ex Corper
 Share this content via...
lomaxkinesis   10 #2 Posted January 6, 2009 It started to happen a while ago. I became disillusioned with the place two or three years ago and wehnever I go now I know no one the music is pretty crappy and it just seems weird to be in a horrible sweaty place with nothing to amuse you. Saying that I went last Monday and the Friday just gone and enjoyed both times, but was with a groujp of friends both times. It seems to make the difference. It saddens me! Paulmat   10 #3 Posted January 6, 2009 I think monday nights are pretty great at the moment! Although it's kind of wandered away from Corps original style...
 Share this content via...
neeeeeeeeeek   10 #4 Posted January 6, 2009 To be fair they can't win. If they play the same tunes from 4 years ago people moan, if they try and play more current stuff people moan!
 Share this content via...
lomaxkinesis   10 #5 Posted January 6, 2009 Mondays upstairs its a weird amalgamation of drum and Bass, Dubstep and hip hop. Which normally I don't mind but it is the commercial r n' b that is played. As Sheffield's only alternate club, you expect alternate music. (Aside from Skool Disco)
 Share this content via...

Even if they just played some Slayer, Machine Head, Napalm etc. I'd be happy
 Share this content via...

As Sheffield's only alternate club, you expect alternate music. (Aside from Skool Disco)  I used to like that room on mondays! They'd play some good old hip hop. I noticed it get steadily more RnB'ified though. Haven't been in a long time so I don't know how it is now.
 Share this content via...

Agent Orange   11 #10 Posted January 9, 2009 Saturday nights tend to be better. At least down on the ground floor they are... the other rooms pump out some very odd choices of music It is a youth club these days and I tend not to go that often. Haldamir   10 #11 Posted January 10, 2009 Saturday night is now pretty much the main rock/metal night and has been for a while it seems.  There's also a new, relatively unknown night, usually held on the last Thursday in every month. It's called 'Metalsammlung' and its run in the small room only (so far). Entry is £3. The DJ's have been very amiable chaps so far and will play pretty much ANYTHING metal as long as they have it, though it is tailored to less mainstream metal.  Below is the set-list for the last show they did (they upload all their set-lists on their site for people to see what they play):  Opeth - 'Deliverance' Shadows Fall - 'Enlightened By The Cold' Coheed & Cambria - 'Ten Speed Of God's Blood...' Lamb Of God - 'The Subtle Arts Of Murder...' Black Sabbath - 'Heaven And Hell' Arch Enemy - 'Dead Eyes See No Future' Tyr - 'Wings Of Time' Mushroomhead - 'Solitaire Unravelling' Dream Theater - 'As I Am' Viking Skull - 'Beer, Drugs & Bitches' Firewind - 'Insanity' WWE - 'Triple H' Killswitch Engage - 'A Bid Farewell' Slipknot - 'People = ****' Skindred - 'Nobody' Hatebreed - 'Live For This' Lamb Of God - 'Laid To Rest' Sonata Arctica - 'Wolf & Raven'  System Of A Down - 'Toxicity' Nightwish - 'Phantom Of The Opera' Fear Factory - 'Demanufacture' Sepultura - 'Roots Bloody Roots' Megadeth - 'Take No Prisoners' Dethklok - 'Into The Water' Carcass - 'Heartwork' At The Gates - 'Slaughter Of The Soul' Dio - 'Holy Diver' Metallica - 'All Nightmare Long' Stampin' Ground - 'Dead From The Neck...' 3 Inches Of Blood - 'Deadly Sinners' Rammstein - 'Sonne' Dragonforce - 'Through The Fire &...' Turisas - 'Battle Metal' Korpiklaani - 'Let's Drink' Tenacious D - 'Dio'  Alice In Chains - 'Them Bones' Gojira - 'Ocean Planet' Pantera - 'The Art Of Shredding' Rage Against The Machine - 'Bombtrack' Drowning Pool - 'Bodies' Scar Symmetry - 'The Illusionist' Dream Evil - 'March Of The Metallions' Iron Maiden - 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' Machine Head - 'Halo' Apocalyptica - 'One'  Next one is on Thursday 29th January.
