  1. We can see something alight down that way with a lot of smoke billowing out. It's a long way away so can't really tell what it is though.
  2. They wanted to put me onto them to lower my cholesterol when I was diagnosed as diabetic, but after reading about the possible side-effects on line I decided I didn't fancy it and refused them. The muscle wasting and pain, which is apparently irreversible, was my main worry about them.
  3. Owls have let in their regulation three then. How many more though?
  4. Surely it won't take long for someone to make the obvious comment here... :hihi:
  5. According to this story here, some councils have up to 9 different recycling bins! So erm, what happens to all these bins at the end of their working lives? Are they recyclable?
  6. Well, it won't last long unless he starts winning one or two...
  7. Must admit that although the OP has had a run of bad luck, it does sound as though he needs to take a bit more care of his personal belongings and be a bit more organised.
  8. I can safely say I'm not one of them - I've got several things off Freegle and Freecycle before that, and I've always turned up on time to collect them. And I only reply about things that I have a genuine use for. It does make me laugh though when people post a wanted ad for a 50 inch plasma TV with surround sound for example.
  9. I don't follow trends, I've hated him right from the start.
  10. Sad news indeed - another great guitarist gone. I reckon his playing on the Colosseum II albums was some of his best.
  11. Not really, I was responding to the claim that there were no riots under the Labour government and that was the first one I could think of. Someone else has since posted a list of several others though.
  12. So you're telling me that the G20 protest/riot didn't take place under a Labour government then? Must have imagined it then...
  13. I can certainly believe that... look at today's effort. :hihi: Actually there's been some lightning editing there... the version I linked to had the headline 'Terrified workers flee as punter tourches bookies' but now they've decided they can't spell torches and changed it to 'sets fire to'.
  14. Page seems to have gone now: obviously somebody there was reading the forum and got them to correct it! Edit: no, it's still there, just slow to load.
  15. Or so it would appear according to their not very good website which has it as a headline this morning. By mistake.
  16. Any manager that's looking for a job usually didn't do very well in their last job.
  17. You mean, how could there have been any MORE evidence presumably!
  18. And where does it say anything about removing them from their homes?
  19. You can't buy second hand books for a Kindle.
  20. I'm not anti-bus, at least not in this case, I'm just anti-bus-causing-massive-needless-congestion. Edit: Chocki beat me to it.
  21. The area around Carterknowle Road is terrible for these, I just don't bother going down there any longer. Absolutely no way I would ever consider buying a house round there simply on the grounds that I'd have to drive over hundreds of these every day - I don't know how the residents put up with it.
  22. Intriguingly, in my family tree I have the unusually named Judas Iscariot Burton. All his brothers and sisters had fairly normal names so you do wonder whether there was some sort of story behind it. I've even corresponded with someone who knew him and apparently he was a perfectly pleasant old chap who went by the name of Jude. He did get a mention in Jonathan Green's book of unusual names which came out a couple of years ago though.
