Must admit that although the OP has had a run of bad luck, it does sound as though he needs to take a bit more care of his personal belongings and be a bit more organised.

I can safely say I'm not one of them - I've got several things off Freegle and Freecycle before that, and I've always turned up on time to collect them. And I only reply about things that I have a genuine use for. It does make me laugh though when people post a wanted ad for a 50 inch plasma TV with surround sound for example.

The area around Carterknowle Road is terrible for these, I just don't bother going down there any longer. Absolutely no way I would ever consider buying a house round there simply on the grounds that I'd have to drive over hundreds of these every day - I don't know how the residents put up with it.

Intriguingly, in my family tree I have the unusually named Judas Iscariot Burton. All his brothers and sisters had fairly normal names so you do wonder whether there was some sort of story behind it. I've even corresponded with someone who knew him and apparently he was a perfectly pleasant old chap who went by the name of Jude. He did get a mention in Jonathan Green's book of unusual names which came out a couple of years ago though.
