  1. Come on Sheffield, this is a disgrace,we are better than this. Lets see if we can get to 2nd place, then push on and get to 1st place.
  2. I went past the other day and the Prince of Wales on Derbyshire Lane is closed and boarded up. Anyone know what's happening ?
  3. Thank you Blackbeard, Recently the Graves Park Charity has had its own funding stream. Namely the money received from Car parking Fees received from the Car Park in Graves Park, The Animal Farm Car Park. 100% Of the Money Received is Provided to the Graves Park Charity for their own use. Money Received as follows (Info received via FOI Request, so this is correct if anyone wants to know where I have figures from) 2013/14 (full collection on 5/3/14) 4,885.95 2014/15 (full year) 54,841.92 2015/16 (to 29/12/15) 43,791.10 Total 103,518.97 So the Council Nor the Graves Park Charity are as skint as they make out. I'd be interested to know where this money has been spent?
  4. Just a shame this tidal flow was never used as it should have been, travel towards town past Ponsfords there are two over head gantries which as far as I know have never been used. There is also a further over head gantry just after the railway bridge which again has never been used. All because when the road bridge at Heeley was re built it was only wide enough for two lanes either way.
  5. The OP was involved in a litter pick/clean up, I would say that's getting involved and doing something about it wouldn't you.
  6. Moss Valley Fine Meats. A Sheffield farm that supplies a few local butchers.
  7. Thanks, my eyes are painted on, I spotted that moments after I had posted. Thanks again
  8. I thought a referendum had to be called if the increase was 2% or more, wasn't last year's increase 1.99% because of this. Anyone know?
  9. The land on which it stands was given to the citizens of Sheffield in 1925, sold by this Labour council. A sad day indeed, who would have thought it something which belongs to the people sold off by Labour.
  10. Thanks Hillsbro for the pics, I've just found this link which shows some of the beer labels for Richdales http://labology.org.uk/?page_id=5636 These are some of the labels which are on my playing cards, I bet the recipe for these beers has long gone.
  11. I have a pack of playing cards which belonged to my Grandad who lived on Alderson Place just off Bramall Lane. On the back is Richdales Prize Ales Each Ace suit has its own Beer on the symbol. Hearts says Nut Brown Ale Diamonds, Brunswick Ale Spades, Bitter Beer Clubs, Wellington Beer. They all say John Richdale & Co Ltd, Britannia Brewery, Bramall Lane, Sheffield. I've no idea how old they are, not sure If I can post any pictures of these, it has always fascinated me about the brewery and when it finished trading.
  12. I agree, this is Sheffield after all. Other major cities are expanding their Tram network, it won't be long before we start ripping ours up again.
  13. Spot on pal, the tram system needs extending in Sheffield. There seems to be little
  14. Some of the work involves asbestos removal, that's the reason why it has been boarded up with the polythene sheeting covering the shop front.
  15. If the rear facing camera was pointing the wrong way,do you think he would be able to forsee his own end? The mind boggles.
  16. For me it has to be the tree in Graves Park, the one in front of the pavilion.
  17. I suppose this makes a change from the usual Dogs Breakfast that SCC usually spend our money on.
  18. I came past earlier today and I'm pleased to say the "Big Baps" van was still in its usual position in the lay bay.
  19. Yeah get on with it...what a load of twaddle, Graves Park has been under threat long before Eric Pickles and Nick Clegg joined forces. I also don't understand the party politics being played, but why is it always the Labour party which seem hell bent on this ? I'm no fan of the Lib Dems either, but I don't understand your mindset that this land should be sold off, the money raised from this is miniscule in the grand scheme of things. Sheffield City council does not own Cobnar Cottage, nor do they own Graves Park. The land on which this cottage stands is part of land which was gifted to the City of Sheffield. This was given by the late JG Graves to be held in perpetuity. They should be protecting this land not selling it off at any available opportunity. It is not theirs to sell, this Labour council should hang their heads in shame.
  20. And yet just over 30 miles away in Manchester they seem to have no trouble getting the Metro link system extended. The money and the political will seems not to be a problem.
  21. Which is what they should be used for, not SCC Orwellian style newspeak. I can't remember the last traffic information message on any of the signs.
  22. This makes interesting reading, the behaviour of local councillors leaves a lot to be desired. http://kickass-cookies.co.uk/sheffield-governance-joke/
  23. The Slogan for Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is " Where Everyone Matters " Surely this is a Misnomer.
