Hmmm...

I think I'd be asking myself...

... do I really need advice from someone who can't change their own car headlight bulb? :hihi:

I didn’t say that I couldn’t.

I said that I don’t.

(I can’t though, it’s a right squeeze for my fat fingers)

It's an interesting question, Mr Padders!

I have been known to dabble with an oily rag...

... and should the need arise, I would be only too happy to get my hands dirty and give it my best shot! :)

No air conditioning system should be completely devoid of gas unless there is a leak or the system has been evacuated, any A/C specialist worth their salt will know this, and alarm bells should ring straight away. Depletion will occur over time due to dry seals if the A/C hasn't been used for a while and will still occur even if the A/C is being used regularly but will take much much longer, even then full  depletion would take forever. Condensers generally are the main cause of leaks because they are smack bang at the front of the car in front off the radiator and deteriorate due to the elements and stone chips etc. This should have been leak checked with nitrogen and picked up from there before the refrigerant gas was reintroduced. Nitrogen makes up about 78% of our air (Googled that bit sorry, been a while since I did my A/C training) so is safe to use for A/C diagnostics, and is my preferred method. Regas and dye the system is an option but has to be evacuated after a leak is detected, not too keen on this method.
