The Consequences of Brexit [part 4]

Recommended Posts

Love this 'taking back control' thingy::hihi:

The amendment will curb some of the powers the government is giving itself in the EU withdrawal bill. Specifically, it means that although clause 9 of the bill gives ministers powers to implement the Brexit withdrawal agreement by order, the amendment that has been passed means says they can only exercise these powers “subject to the prior enactment of a statute by parliament approving the final terms of withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union.”

Wonder what kind of Brexit the ministers will approve?

I many cases that is true but everybody is moaning about Brexit and inflation being the cause at the moment and not that things are scarce. Are things scarce at the moment?

Yes, labour to work in the food sector.

Isn't it great that at last the government's attempts to overturn the democratic process through bullying has been defeated.

David Davis tried to head off the rebellion by stating

“The government has committed to hold a vote on the final deal in parliament as soon as possible after the negotiations have concluded. This vote will take the form of a resolution in both houses of parliament and will cover both the withdrawal agreement and the terms for our future relationship,”

Looks like MPs were worried this was just a 'statement of intent' rather than an actual commitment.

I don't think that anybody believes a word that he says any more. Not Barnier, not Juncker, not his own party.

This lot just sink deeper into the mire with every passing day.

The EU and Japan have just signed a deal to create the worlds biggest free trade area......just as the U.K. decides to leave

Indeed, we now *must* have a FTA (especially for cars) since otherwise it'll be cheaper to make and ship to the EU from Japan than from the UK.

Lots of concessions yet to come methinks......

EDIT people voted leave for PAY RISES!?!?!?

Has the cat stepped on your keyboard or something?

It was Lord Rose, the head of the 'Britain Stronger in Europe' campaign, who stated during an appearance before the House of Commons Treasury select committee that the wages of low skilled workers would rise in the event of a vote to Leave the EU.

Wes Streeting MP (Labour) asked Lord Rose if restrictions on the free movement of EU migrants after a Brexit vote "could see an increase in wages for low-skilled workers in the UK”? Lord Rose replied: “If you are short of labour the price will, frankly, go up. So yes. That’s not necessarily a good thing.”

Membership of the EU means big business can pay lower wages to the poorest workers.

A vote to Leave was a vote to give the poor a pay rise.
