top4718
When did you hear that, because according to the Star at 12:42 today he could be playing. http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-wednesday/newcastle-united-s-jonjo-shelvey-banned-for-using-racially-aggravated-language-but-could-yet-feature-against-sheffield-wednesday-on-boxing-day-1-8298397 I gather that if he appeals he's got 7 days before the ban kicks in which would enable him to play. It is a joke, it has been going on for over three months, the incident happened September 17th.

NERVY-OWL
Hutchinson v Shelvey will be a very good battle,as they both like to tackle and get sent off as well,we need Hutch to stop Shelvey from spraying the ball around,Hope Bannan and Kieran Lee are fully fit as Newcastle like to play at a fast pace like we did last season Isn't shelvey banned? Just got another 5 game ban. As for the game it obviously won't be easy but if we can play to our best we can get a result, even if its a draw to keep abit of momentum going

ALAN 58
Official Newcastle United Statement: ‘Jonjo Shelvey has been given a five-match suspension and £100,000 fine after an FA misconduct charge against him was found proven. Jonjo was charged with using abusive and/or insulting words towards an opponent in the 87th minute of the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, 17th September 2016. It was further alleged that this breach of Rule E3(1) was an “Aggravated Breach” as defined in Rule E3(2), as it included reference to ethnic origin and/or race and/or nationality. The player, who denied the charge at an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, was also ordered to attend an FA education course. The sanction has been set aside pending consideration for an appeal. The player has seven days from receipt of written reasons in which to lodge any appeal. The club and the player will await the FA’s written reasons before making any further comment on this matter.’
iansheff
So if he appeals then he could still play Monday, the ban only happens if he doesn't appeal.
