Blue Monday
Traffic will be really bad on match days its bad enough now so dread to think what it will be like with a supermarket on doorstep Quite correct. The only circumstance that this development should be allowed is if the planned relief road to Oughtibridge via Claywheels Lane is an integral part of it. Surprised no one has mentioned the imminent opening of an ASDA only a mile away near Chaucer School.
harvey19
Does anyone know if planning permission was approved for a Sainsburys supermarket on the old Fletchers site. Will the Gate and Travellers pubs be demolished ?
silverknight
Sure I read in Sheffield Telegraph that Planning approval has been given by that department so now has to go though a final council meeting to be held this week or next for them to give any final comments. Rich
2 major Supermarkets in S5? Won't happen, what with the new Asda on Chaucer Road and everything Besides which, it would be the final nail in the coffin for the Hillsborough Co Op if it did happen, mind you that place has been at death's door for years. MorningGlory
yup, they got permission. story in The Star is called "Store wars as big plan is approved" (sorry I can't paste links as yet) I like this comment on The Star website by Tawny: "Interesting that Tesco, Asda and Morrisons are all concerned about this proposed new development by Sainsbury having a damaging effect on 'surrounding district centres, damaging Hillsborough, Parson Cross and Stocksbridge'. . . . \is it not strange that these just happen to be the areas where they have their own stores (actual or proposed). Where was their concern about the existing businesses that their own developments put in jeopardy?" sheffield city council planning application number, should you want to know everything in high-definition, glorious technicolour: 10/03381/FUL
