Postnatal Depression and Toddler groups
Ginger_Kitty replied to claire125's topic in Sheffield Parenting Group
I can tell you that there are none in the Chesterfield area, its a problem that I've been looking at too. My local SureStart in Chesterfield are looking at the possibility of setting one up if they can get the appropriate support. But it is proving difficult at the moment I don't think many people know about my PND either (I have chosen to tell some) as in public its automatic to put on a 'happy mummy' face... xx -
Still might be worth seeing one, something like endometriosis on the outside of the bowel could make mild IBS a lot worse. Just an idea anyway xx
-
Peaches, have you approached this from the gynae point of view? Get referred to a good gynae and see if the IBS is caused by the periods instead of the other way round??

Advice please-grommets or hearing aids?
Ginger_Kitty replied to adsclaire's topic in Sheffield Parenting Group
I've not personally had experience of either, but my little bro was in a similar position and was very deaf with glue ear; He had grommets and has never had a problem since -
Mothers more likely to suffer PND in modern times
Ginger_Kitty replied to Zebra's topic in Sheffield Parenting Group
Amazingly though I have amazing support, two sets of parents living close enough to take Ed for a day or a weekend, playgroups 3 days a week, nursery one day a week. I have days off, I have social networks and still had severe depression... sometimes it hits you whether you live in the modern world or not -
I was just thinking I am a bit of a bigger build than you Its a bit easier, though my back does hurt the next day
-
it might be a good idea it means he can follow you round. We never had one and he did get very frustrated! How old is he now I've forgotten? Ed still goes in his sling at 24lb
-
We can still do calpol, ibuprofen and powders, but ultimately he often just wants cuddles! I get the sling out!
-
Teething? Ed always gets super-clingy when he's about to sprout a new tooth! could also just be separation anxiety?
-
I'm still seeing a psychiatrist regularly, I'm on my 3rd medication and have the health visitor and surestart keeping an eye on me... sadly, i think this is as good as it gets at the moment

I'm still firmly in the tunnel with very little view of the light.. the drugs are working, but I'm still not right Ed is a year old soon

Baby Eczema: I need good alternatives to steroids
Ginger_Kitty replied to cosywolf's topic in Sheffield Parenting Group
I must admit, we thought the eczema round Ed's neck was drool at first; he's teethed constantly for the last 6 months, but now the worst rash is round the back its proved not to be that I'm also one for not wrapping him too warmly, jumper only in the car unless we're going to be in and out again. Sadly I keep getting told off cos he has cold hands "so the rest of him must be cold" He has cold hands cos he's crawling on a cold floor!!! -
Baby Eczema: I need good alternatives to steroids
Ginger_Kitty replied to cosywolf's topic in Sheffield Parenting Group
We're also suffering with severe eczema at the moment, Ed is a year old (almost ) and just before christmas came out with eczema round his neck. we've gone through everything, what he's eating (its not tomatoes or dairy or processed food), our washing powders etc and we can't figure out a cause. He's now scratching his neck like crazy and really breaking the skin. We've tried everything from 'nothing' to E45 and prescription creams and nothing is really hitting it like I'd hoped We have had a reduction in the all-over rash, but not the bad bits I'm also refusing to use steroid creams at the moment. The poor boy is waking in the night scratching himself til it hurts, is grumpy all day because he's so uncomfortable I might try to oats in the bath thing this week, but again i'm not overly keen as I have an intolerance to gluten (wheat, rye, barley and oats) even on my skin, so I don't want to sensitise Ed to it so early I know it *might* be gluten too, but I'm loathe to cut that out of his diet as well as my own without medical supervision yet. grr... its endless -
I've not taken the theory (eek that shows i'm old!) so no help from me on that one. Just thought I'd wish you luck Annie xxx

Screaming baby with nothing obviously wrong?!
Ginger_Kitty replied to chickywiggle's topic in Sheffield Parenting Group
we get the beginning bit.. but from then up til the zzz can last about an hour some days... especially sundays!! 'I'm happy, i'm waddling my way across the room... I'M TIRED, I'M GONNA DIE OF TIREDNESS... wah wah wah' etc Then he'll eventually give in.. eventually... its been nearly a year now and he's done it the whole time!!! Same goes for hunger too 'I'm fine' to 'I'M STARVING AND WASTING AWAY' in milliseconds... easier to fix that one though -

I'm not sad to see it go, I didn't exactly like it there... but its a sorry thing to see your old formroom flattened by the maths classroom!!!
