  1. you can still plant things like lettuce, you can plant carrots til late july... erm... i'm risking more peas and beans this week On the carrots subject, I had a research around various places yesterday and read that most carrots should be ready about 9 weeks after sowing, mine have been in for 12 weeks so i just pulled the ones with the biggest and healthiest tops and we have 4-5 inch carrots not bad on pure clay
  2. thats what i ended up doing last night, they look good carrots, eating them tonight
  3. I'm not into 6legged things... but i have to admit thats a fabulous moth
  4. i have seen some that are magentic... expensive tho! i'll see if i can find them. edit: http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Magnet-drawer-cupboard-lock/dp/B001B8XGII/sr=1-9/qid=1247667162/ref=sr_1_9/278-6869451-8713743?_encoding=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=42872041&mcb=core
  5. My peas failed we got less than half a cupful from about 50 plants We are in full harvest season too though, peas, beetroot, potatoes, rasps, loganberries, goosegogs, strawbs, onions, lettuce... how do you know when carrots are ready????
  6. never worked for me... still like the honey though
  7. I must admit i took benadryl for most of my pregnancy as I have hayfever for over half the year. My doc seemed ok with it as its one of the older antihistamines and noone ever told me to stop taking them If you get worse it might be worth talking to a more sympathetic doc...
  8. Hi Gina I have no advice but wanted to offer you some hugs! *HUGHUGHUGHUGHUGHUGHUGHUG* Em xx
  9. In our case its not scabies, seen doc twice, even he's stumped... ah well, maybe his excema comes out like this sometimes....
  10. Out LO has had spots for over 3 weeks now, we thought it was pox at first but its soo not. They still blister and burst but don't scab, they are itchy but aren't responding to his excema meds... no idea any more either!
  11. Well I always paid my rent on time and the only reward was the lack of threatening letters!!!
  12. One of mine stole a chive yesterday, no i dea where its gone! I can only guess he ate it!!
  13. lol that would be because cetirizine are useless!! well, they are with me anyway. If you can, try a different brand, benadryl (azelastine) or clarityn (loratedine) might work better.
  14. I've had a terrible day today, i've had too many tablets already and eyedrops about 6 times (i use optilast) if nothing else i should sleep well!! nettle tea is next
  15. Nettle tea is supposed to help, its not as horrible as it sounds and you can buy it in teabags! Also apparently elderflower tea/wine/juice helps too
  16. Exactly, no-one ever tells us about the Omegas, yet they CAN make sooo much difference! give it a go, it made a difference within a fortnight for me and I was a different person within a month!
  17. A bit more on the omega 3s for you. I spoke to my consultant and several mental health nurses and they have all told me that in soooo many people, omega3s make a huge difference! But stupidly noone ever mentions it until you are facing serious drugs, and even then they sometimes forget I was facing the prospect of lithium being added to my antiDs, I started taking omega3s for an unrelated reason, so not suggested by any medical professionals, and found it worked. I've been backed up by me research since edit: I never did have the lithium and i'm now on about half the dose of antiDs that i was on when i was offered it.
  18. I've found that if nothing else, the drugs take the edge off the depression while you tackle the underlying problems (if you can), then is the time to start lowering the dose... slowly... very slowly... oh and take omega 3 fish oils! they work wonders!
  19. Hi Waxy! I'm with cosy on this one, you aren't letting baby waxy down at all, quite the opposite I've not breastfed while on antiDs either, but I did take them while I was pregnant, so i kinda know how you feel. If it makes you a better mummy in the long run, then its best for baby waxy I've been on antiDs since my LO was 7 days old, none of them (3 types) helped as much as they 'should' have, but I'm still taking them, with an added dose of Omega 3 fish oils. THATS whats made the difference!! seriously! It'll be good for baby waxy too fish oils are good for the brain Holland and Barrett do a good EPA fish oils, its expensive, but sooo worth it, I've regained my sanity and been able to reduce my drug dose since *hug*
  20. Beautiful shots I like the clarity of the gathered insects
  21. Or fishfingers every night at least fish isn't all bad.... Edit: i'm not going to feed him FF everynight... maybe just some
  22. We always have the same bedtime routine, usually starting around 7pm Daddy runs bath, Ed runs round upstairs while we catch him and slowly wrestle clothes off. Ed has bath, play with toys, hair wash (cos theres usually food/paint/soil etc in it!) more play til he's cold/bored/chucked all the toys out! Out of bath, covered in his excema cream (massage with oil/baby cream otherwise) and dressed for bed. Off to parents bed to have a cuddle with daddy, bottle of milk, clean teeth then story. After 7th time through story its bedtime, Ed settled into bed with goodnight kisses, calm dark room and whispering parents. Door closed and left. Usually by 8pm, he should then sleep til about 7am. We've had pretty much the same routine since he was about 6 months, he's now 16 months and he knows this is bedtime. Since Ed was about 10 months he's only had one nap, if you manage to reinstate it then its worth having that at a relatively set time too. Ours is 2pm, but can be moved forward or back depending on how exhausted he is. For this one we just tell him its naptime, or ask him if he wants to go to bed, take him upstairs, change his nappy and quietly put him in his cot. The only words i use are 'sleep time now' and when I leave I promise him i'll be back to check on him in 10 minutes, usually by then he's been asleep for a while. He's learnt to settle himself to sleep now since we started this simple routine, before that he was a pain in the bum! It can take a while for the little one to get the hang of this one but it did work eventually for us I think by 9 months, Ed was pretty much eating when we ate, and usually the same meal as us, just in smaller chunks, in between times he has a snack of breadstick, fruit or biscuit to keep him going. He also still had a bottle of milk in the morning, one just before his afternoon nap and one at bedtime. Water was available to him all day. I think the main thing in setting a routine is to decide and do it! No dithering, no arguing for an extra 5 minutes, just get on with it, and persevere, babies will take a few days or even a couple of weeks to get the hang of a routine but they seem to thrive on it. They know whats coming next, its like a bit of security for them Hope that helps a bit
