  1. Thanks Well, i decided to be tough... he had 4 spoons of tea last night then refused, oddly refused pud too, so that was it, no more... sadly my grandma had other ideas and then fed him biscuits and chocolate gateau!!!! ah well, I guess we try again tonight!
  2. We've had a wonderful crop of pak choi so far this year, as well as the usual radishes, beetroot leaves, rhubarb (forever!) asparagus and chives. We pulled a couple of garlics early as they were flowering (and we wanted an excuse!) roasted them whole and they were wonderful! Also pulled all of the leeks from last year at last
  3. Thanks all so far I'm trying to not give in to his 'i want my favourite', he gets his fav meal (the fishfingers thing!) once a week, twice if he's lucky, the rest of the time he's offered what we have... We offer the breadsticks or even rice cakes as a 'savoury' to see if he really is hungry, if he eats it then we have our answer... I'm not getting overly stressed about the lack of eating, he's always been on the chunky side and its not going to hurt him. I'm just not good at coping with the screaming I guess that harks back to my really bad PND time I guess I really just needed to know that this is a phase and it'll pass... eventually... In the meantime we're offering a bit more for his lunch (used to be just sandwiches) to make up for the nutrients he's missing, then a bit extra milk instead of tea (if he completely refuses, like tonight!) and then his usual supper and bedtime milk.
  4. Ed's now 16 months, he's always been a fabulous eater but the last few weeks he's gone mad. Every night at teatime he just flatly refuses his tea; hot, cold, mush, lumps, everything! (well, apart from salmon fishfingers and peas!) I know he's been teething forever (he now has at least 16) but this is just not normal for him He'll eat breadsticks, or rusk, or banana, or pudding, he just won't eat his tea... He screams when its in front of him and he doesn't want it, that doesn't happen with breakfast or lunch, just tea... he won't even entertain it going into his mouth for him to try... but he's still hungry! He's even the same with his grandparents - now thats serious!!!! anyone any ideas? I'm running out of tactics.... (a very exhausted) Em xx
  5. They still freak me out now... its apparently normal of a house to have one or two, but lots is not normal an needs dealing with asap... trust me... I'm still itching... ooh one more bit of advice... if you have a spare freezer, then freezing things for a couple of days (sealed in a plastic bag or two!) will kill the blighters too urgh...
  6. Be afraid, be very afraid! They are carpet beetles, as beetles they aren't too harmful, but as larvae (small furry wriggly ugly things!) they will eat anything made of natural fibres; wool, hair, fur etc. I had a lovely plague of them a few years ago and ended up getting the council in to spray the house (£40) which killed the majority of the problem. If you can wash and tumble dry as many clothes etc as you can (or dry clean special items) that will kill most that might be hiding in the wardrobe, then i'm afriad its the bug sprayers for any carpet. Its not fun, but it does work... good luck
  7. I don't know if this will help or not, but I have dyspraxia and my memory is terrible, I've had to learn to write things down as i remember them and write lists of EVERYTHING! Dyspraxia is sooo similar to dyslexia and trust me, with time it will get easier and hopefully your son will grow up with help on how to deal with things and not let it grind him down. *hug* it is possible
  8. Mine (a half plot in chesterfield) costs £7.50 a year
  9. You point out busses and helicopters to random passers by...
  10. Eat them! seriously! I thinned mine yesterday when the leaves were a couple of inches long, the leaves came home, were trimmed of the roots and added to a sandwich! Baby beet leaves are lovely
  11. My son's hair fell out after he was born. It grew back nice and evenly afterwards Some babies even grow a different colour hair than what they started off with
  12. My LO had hiccups 4 times a day from a couple of months before he was born, he hated them even before he was born he'd get fed up of them and start thrashing about poor thing It was nothing to do with his drinking as such, but a large burp would often set them off, as would 'talking' too much. He's 15 months now and if he gets hiccups once in a day, then he'll get them 4 times! So do i can't help on the BF thing I'm afraid, I didn't even get to 1 week!!!
  13. Congrats Binty, I hope its all going to work out. My little one was over a week different when officially dated and we KNEW when he happened IYKWIM It might just be that you had late implantation, it happens, must have with us. Good luck for the repeat scan
  14. I was lucky, I was on Implanon AND Cerazette (together!) and dropped lucky the first month after coming off them....
  15. The advice we were given for our long-neglected plot was Dig a little at a time, and carefully to remove as many weeds as poss. Plant as you go along, as long as you have cleared enough space. Plan what you want to put in and where, also when it needs planting and dig areas of priority! Oh and work out what soil/geology you are on (probably limestone!!) and plant things that are suitable Potatoes are good for conditioning the soil and breaking it up, its not too late to get some in I don't think... We've had ours 18 months now and its still taking a lot of taming. My mum's took about 3 years to get on top of completely.
  16. I know... and i didn't think i was pg either as i had a false negative test, so I resorted to prescription painkillers and tens machine and swearing!! I don't think the endometriosis helped (i actually thought it WAS that...) ah well, at least he implanted well...
  17. This is a cake I love (but now sadly can't eat ) it makes a lovely rich fruit cake. 1.5 cups All Bran 1.5 cups dried mixed fruit 0.5 cup sugar 1.5 cups milk (cows or soya works) stir all into a bowl and leave to soak for an hour, then add: 1.5 cups self raising flour 1 tbsp black treacle ground mixed spice to taste. mix well and pour into a fairly large cake tin (I use a 1.5lb loaf tin) cook at 150c for at least an hour or until brown on top and skewer comes out clean. Its really easy to make yourself, give it a try!
  18. Some people get implantation bleeding, others implantation pain, others nothing... Personally I got the pain, HUGE incredible pain!!! not just pinching for me sadly, I actually thought I was on fire!!
  19. That appears to be true I'm going to be trying it next time I'm in sheffield at scoff time
  20. I didn't really get cramps... I thought my uterus was on fire (yep random I know, but it woke me frequently in the middle of the night and your brain does weird things then!) I didn't know i was pg at the time so took tramadol it was sooo painful. I got that about 4 times in a few days then it eased off
  21. we've finally got stuff planted in our lovely clay, so far the pak choi, radishes, garlic, onions, rhubarb and asparagus are coming up We've got a freezer full of rhubarb already The loganberry, blackberry, goosegogs, and currants are growing and/or flowering wooohooo... its SPRING!!
