  1. Strange thing happened here the other day. I was at pump 3 (alone) and stuck about £24 of diesel in - £24:12 to be exact. Well at the counter the cost came up at £25 exactly so I though I had maybe read the amount instead of cost, previously it was suggested I had done that at the same place and I accepted without checking. Anyway this time I checked and it was £24:12 so I went back in and challenged the amount and immediately without checking the assistant accepted what I said and returned me 75p in cash, but declined to offer me an explanation. He also kept my first receipt and gave me another one. At some point I did confirm it was pump 3 but this seemed irrelevant. Obviously I was overcharged 88p but was so taken aback by the refund I never thought to question it (I had just finished a 12hr night shift too). Most odd, anyway upshot is check your amounts before paying.
  2. Only listened to radio Sheffield but didn't Mceverly stop a certain goal just after he came on?
  3. As I said having entered the title i was "directed" to an existing thread but didn't notice the date, but hey this is Sheffield forum, let's not let a reasonable topic get in the way of the usual thread decline.
  4. I'm going. If it's anything like the last one it will be well worth it. Robbery on the tickets online though. Oops was forced here when I entered smyths title, didn't see the date!
  5. No one can deny that the mines needed to be closed, though it should have been handled better. . That is the crux. Although the unions had got out of control, the crushing of them was done with animosity and no though for the fallout to ordinary working people and their dependant communities.
  6. I know property is much cheaper up here than down London way but 100k is still bottom end. I checked Stocksbridge and Penistone for you on rightmove as they are North West Sheffield - nearer to Manchester -Penistone has a railway station. There are a few terraces advertised at just over 100k. Fair old trek into Sheffield city centre though from that area.
  7. Ah right, didn't know that. Been a long time out of the trade now and only do bits and bobs on my own cars, which are older models.
  8. Flywheel ring gear? It used to be the case that the engine settled at the same place when stopped so that part of the flywheel ring gear used to get most worn. I know pre-engaged starters stopped a lot of the wear but when the starter is used to this extent there has to be a weakest link somewhere surely?
  9. Heard this before, is it actually true or just some mechanic's exaggeration?
  10. As a parent i am in no doubt about what my kids want for Christmas believe me! But like most parents we will also try and surprise them with something and this is where I am suggesting the manipulation might come in. ---------- Post added 09-11-2015 at 15:21 ---------- You can look after him on Christmas morning when he gets a doll and pram instead of a Messi shirt and football. Don't leave your fingers near any doorshuts.
  11. How could I possibly know the answer to your question? My boy has never shown any interest in prams or dolls and he has an older sister. He certainly won't be getting either this Christmas. My point which seems to have been overlooked or ignored, is that there will be parents who WILL try and influence their chilldrens behaviour through presents.
  12. In reply to sgtkate. I was suggesting that some parents would not buy the presents their kids have shown a desire for, but ones the parents think it is "right" for them to recieve. Of all the boys my son plays with I don't know one that has or wants a pram. For them to recieve a surprise pram and dolls on Christmas day would be interesting, would like to be there to see the response.
  13. Find myself agreeing with Gamston here. Suspect there are going to be some very disappointed boys on Christmas morning when some "progressive" parents see this.
  14. But isn't this a cut in tax relief on mortgage interest for buy to lets, not a tax as such? So if you don't have a mortgage on the property it won't affect you?
  15. Reputable letting agent?? If you find one let us know pls
  16. A bit of monentum from private buyers is needed at Parkhill to get it really going. As said you are getting a lot for your money and as for the area, yes it was once very rough but look at the developments near the Wicker, how they have come on and Wicker was rough as anywhere, especially proximity to spital hill. I would carefully check any service charges though and how much they are allowed to rise annually, and ensure you are getting a long lease, maybe 150 years plus.
  17. Think that is the name i was trying to remember, do you have his contact details please? denlin. ---------- Post added 10-10-2015 at 08:42 ---------- Joiner Andy is booked up for months. Any more recommendations please? There must be quite a few joiners who do this sort of work i would have thought.
  18. Hi all, need a worktop mitering, preferably at home location. Any recommendations / contacts please?
  19. Enterprise charges change constantly and can sometimes appear very cheap but there are lots of hidden charges which they tell you about when you get there. eg bodywork, glass, tyre etc insurance even after you have included CDW.
  20. Enterprise can look cheap as advertsised on their website, but when you get down to pick car up they start warning you that you need insurance for bodywork, windscreen etc even though you included CDW. Sharp practice in my mind and can almost double the price.
