I didn't think we knew about absestos in the 60s. Some asbestos only got banned in 2000 and other asbestos in the early 1990s.

Sheffield CC must be infested with asbestos in respect of the ‘thrown up’ post war office/shop buildings, I also recall bad flooding in basements following heavy rain.

I reckon the Debenham's, Wilko & M&S are all asbestos.

It must sound strange to some but as I was born in 1947 I  actually well recall badly bombed buildings awaiting demolition held up by what resembled pit props. The speed of the completion of new builds still amazes me, I just wonder if the Germans were as asbestos happy as us Brits.

Yep, of course you do!

So why do you see it as 'another problem' if it has to be dealt with no matter what is to become of the building?

BTW Congratulations on your 'forum expert' certification! :hihi:

Mr. Bloke,

It seems to me that this "Forum Expert" phrase is being banded around in a carefree fashion.

I'm just wondering if SF could devise a system where the "Experts" are officially certified...

Could they possibly grade each member with a star or summat on their moniker.

Lets have a look in detail,

Member.

Grade 1-"Forum Expert"

Grade 2-"Forum Specialist"

Grade 3-"Forum Genius"

I think the Forum would be a lot more interesting if something similar to this was put in place.

At least you would know whom you are dealing with,

Obviously the Football section would consist of members only, that would give you the right to argue the point all day long..

A "Forum Expert" would be treated with respect.

A "Forum Specialist" Is moving up another level.. You would listen carefully, and acknowledge his posts giving a polite reply.

In the unlikely event of coming across a "Forum Genius" you would consider it a great honour and simply agree with everything he post's. while thanking him profusely.

Surely this is the way forward to make the Forum a more interesting and friendly place to visit...

Come on SF get your finger out and sort it........

You have obviously given a lot of thought to this, Mr Padders! :)

There will no doubt be many town hall employees who will read your post with admiration, and be absolutely dumbfounded as to just how one person is able to motivate their little grey cells to come up with such an innovative and well thought through idea.

But I think there's one small point that you may have overlooked.

Achieving the level of 'forum expert' is a totally binary condition.

You're either a 'forum expert' or you're not!

You can't have many different levels of 'forum expert' any more than you can have many different forms of... say, gender! (Now wouldn't that be a ludicrous idea?) :hihi:

As you know, many people have tried to identify as being a 'forum expert', but it soon becomes obvious to everyone who the 'real experts' are.

And this is where 'real experts' and 'forum experts' differ!

'Real experts' ACTUALLY know their stuff, in their tiny specialist area, and don't really care if anyone believes them or not...
... whereas 'forum experts' BELIEVE they know everything about everything, and will argue till the cows come home if anyone dares to question them!

So, no I don't agree with any 'forum expert/specialist/genius' receiving anything but contempt from us mere members who have to endure their constant and repetitive ramblings.

The ones we should all listen to are the 'real experts' who don't go out of their way to show off their knowledge...
