LOL

more like not left or right ;) always hated socialist workers and millitant just as much as the right

But it is good that finally theres a proper left wing alternative to the tories

Yes, it is good. But I would argue that they are not that far left, they are simply doing what Labour was designed to do - represent the ordinary citizen.

Blairite Labour was so centrist you couldn't get a credit card between them and the Tories.

One of the reasons we're in the mess we're in at the moment, is that there has been no effective opposition since the 70s. So Tory and New Labour have had a free run to feather their own nests and those of their cronies unopposed. Hence the rich have got richer (and mega mega rich in some cases,) whilst the poor (and just about managing,) have not only got poorer, but watched their quality of life go steadily down the pan, with nobody to fight their corner.

Looks like Saint Jeremy has been brought into line by his Remoaning acolytes. Despite the working classes oop north voting for Brexit and not Remain, St Jeremy of the working classes will betray them all this morning when he gives his speech on remaining in the corrupt EU.

The policy seems to be in the customs union, but out of the single market. Free trade, but no free movement. UK sovereignty, but with ECJ rulings. Follow EU regulations, but not all of them.

It's like being half pregnant. You should expect the EU to laugh at them but Labour just created a wedge to work against UK negotiations so the EU might well keep quiet.

More magical thinking from Labour!

I can't believe that you and many others are still using this emotional language - 'Saint Jeremy', 'betray' and 'corrupt'. But, I don't supose that this cat is going to change her spots.

Everyone knows that the referendum, superseded by the snap General Election, was a 'in' or 'out' decision. We are coming out.

The deal once out was never clearly agreed upon, or even thought about, by the rag-tag coalition of the Leavers. So the biggest lead on the 'view of the Nation' is the snap General Election which clearly was one of a soft Brexit.

I would back Jeremy as a canny negotiator, rather than Ms May and co.

I wouldn't. He's a fence sitter on this and other issues

We've been told since day one we can't pick and choose which bits of the EU we like, yet we pay no attention and stubbornly plough on regardless.

Negotiations will come to an impasse, we'll either roll over or take a hard brexit.

Why would you? How do you think Jeremy would be able to negotiate a good deal when he has already said that no deal is not an option?

Jeremy Corbyn has spent his whole political life negotiating one thing or another. He's a seasoned veteran of difficult situations. We have to have a deal of some sort to be able to trade equably with Europe. What that deal is, is the key.

I haven't seen his speech in full yet. With Jeremy Corbyn it's necessary to hear it direct from the horses mouth, and in full, before the anti-Corbyn media spin doctors get to work on it.

Let's see what he actually has to say.

Wasn't he a backbencher? It would be interesting to see what major things he's negotiated.

Aside from peace in Northern Ireland. I can't believe John Major and Mo Mowlam took credit for that :)

I have heard what he has to say. It is pretty much the same as the Tories, only they are picking and choosing slightly different things.

Labour now want to leave the customs union (so do the Tories) and negotiate a 'new comprehensive customs union' with the EU. This effectively is what the Tories want too.

Theresa May wants a 'customs arrangement' that would allow us to make our own international trade deals.

Corbyn wants a 'new customs union' that would give us a say in any new EU led trade deals with 'third' countries.

I imagine the EU would just say no to both.
