  1. Lets keep it on topic, its a interesting debate the pro's and cons of public photography. Whether its right or politically incorrect to take photos that may or may not include kids in public Sheffield Park. Is it a over zealous parenting swayed by tabloid hype or is it everyone with a camera is a perv and should be made to eat greggs pasties until they are sterilised.
  2. Although I've never done street photography, the entertainment events I cover have large crowds and the public audiences, I find on a whole people are very receptive at having their picture taken. I think it would be different on the street with people going about their own private business. I do know some photographers that do that for picture stock and photo journalism.
  3. God forbid your checking your trouser pocket for some change for an ice cream. They'd be a lynch mob!!!!

  5. A famous swim wear manufacturer has just had a massive recall. After many swimmers experienced extreme prejudice in some cases violence. Some were bewildered when they escorted out of public baths. Apparently the glue used to affix the lettering of their logo had failed on both sides making the outer two letters fall off. Speedos where unavailable for comment.
  6. Be very wary of CCTV you never know who's watching http://www.newsletter.co.uk/news/regional/cctv-operator-spied-on-woman-court-told-1-6126789
  7. I wonder how they react to being filmed on CCTV, on every street, in every shop.
  8. The Star would want a picture, I think the OP would think themselves very hypercritical, in having a picture taken and published on the front page. Would be hilarious if the photographer from the paper turned up on their doorstep and it was the same guy from the park. Awkward!!!
  9. Here's a advisory letter from the Association of Chief Police offices outlining the police powers in the case of people taking photographs. http://freepdfhosting.com/45596bb0b6.pdf
  10. Im just watching the news. In all the stories there were loads of photographers, taking loads of pictures of different types of people. I think they all should be arrested.
  11. As a professional photographer I would always ask permission before taking pictures of kids, even at the weddings and events I cover and give the parents a card so they can have a copy of the pictures. But the type of kit I have people can blatantly see what Im doing. In a public place no one has the right to see what you have on your camera, even the police without suspician of a crime being committed. They cannot confiscate the camera or ask for items to be deleted without a court order. It would be impossible if it was a film camera to preview the pictures. There is a great over reaction these days about people with cameras, when a smart phone with a bluetooth lens can be used more subversivey, The guy probably did take pictures of the kids playing in the snow, which always make great scenes, he handled it badly and probably run off to protect his kit and almost certainly his face.
  12. Very likely, when it snowed the other week, the snow slid off our roof on to the extension roof below, we thought it was a tremor until I saw the pile of snow.
  13. Brilliant. Well done Bassett one. Sheffield fayre without the re-enactment was pants. Ill be there.
  14. Canon 7D Top Camera one for sale on here: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1373774
  15. They could always move the town centre to Meadowhall. Job done. Built them fast and build the high. The town centre is instantly regenerated. Apart from a few pub crawls. I cant remember the last time I went in to Sheffield to shop or come to think of it, Meadowhall either. Id rather go to Barnsley or Chesterfield markets.
  16. We had 40 odd years of living with the threat of bombing from the IRA. They where more brazen, audacious and had a real cause than these fanatics. In reality the fanatics have a lot of catching up to do before they cause real terror. Over the years there have been many terrorist groups, religion somehow has been the crux of all of them.
  17. It has become a symbol of unity, defiance and appeasement. After 7/7 there was "Not Afraid" I think Je Suis Charlie will now be in the history book long after the extremists have been forgotten.
  18. One has just been sold for £100,000.00 on ebay. I wonder if the buyer will actually pay.
  19. Hers there right now take a look !!!!!!! Absolutely made my day, suffering from manflu and a aching back. Really cheered me up.
  20. Just had a text from Plougher Pete, he sends his apologises but he's snowed in.
  21. I got one off Ebay for £12, its spot on. I use a 6D with a 70-200 so it gets very heavy holding it after a while, the strap takes the weight perfectly.
  22. Hanimex make lens for all cameras so it depends on what fitting you have. The 450D is an EF fitting. Just have a look on the lens if its a screw fit its M42 if its a bayonet type see if there are any small screws that can be removed and then remove the fitting it possibly M42 underneath, I've found this is the case with some old lens.
  23. As everyone has said wrap them around a tube or card. But start wrapping at the plug end. So the light end is first, start at the top of ther tree and walk around it, dropping a level each turn. As you get to the bottom you should be left with the wire section with the plug at the end. When your packing up start with the plug end again. Works for me everytime.
  24. There's a lot more going on there, than you imagine.
