Should you call women "mate"?
Chris11 replied to Super Hans's topic in Padders' Bar: General Discussions
'Guy'refers to men. 'Guys' refers to a group of either sex, so it was perfectly reasonable for them to refer to your group as guys. It didn't seriously 'grind your gears' did it? http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/guy?q=guys -
This is one of the most ridiculous threads on here for a while. Complain about what? They stopped to check damage, and I am sure the instructor would have given insurance details if needed. Accidents happen to many drivers, and new and learner drivers are more prone to make mistakes and poor calls in judgement. Out of interest what would your complaint be?

To the two strangers who got my phone back to me
Chris11 replied to sarz39's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
If they were that important or precious, I would have backed these up in several locations. Just shows many people are different, as you say. -
Haha how can Beckham have underachieved? He won major trophies from several competitions nearly every year of his life! Waddle said he wouldn't make it into the top 1000 players in the Premiership. Beckham provided many game changing moments, and my favorite pass of his was that deep cross to Ronaldo from about 45 yards. No one else could do that. ---------- Post added 17-05-2013 at 16:21 ---------- You mean like Messi does with Argentina? Or is he not truly great?

Why are you assuming this person would be at work at this time or day? They may work evening shifts, night shifts, may not work on Thursdays, may work weekends, may work shift work, may work at home; the list is endless. Also when they referred to their window, why do you assume this is a house window? It could well be his window at work.

Haha. Just wait for all the moaners to come along!

Thefts from Ponds Forge changing rooms
Chris11 replied to cerdo1's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I also had my wallet and phone stolen from Pond Forge swimming baths last year, shame to hear it is still this bad. I now leave all valuables hidden in my car whilst I go to the pool. -
Cavendish? :D:D:D:D:D:D ---------- Post added 10-05-2013 at 18:45 ---------- There are a few nice beers on tap at the Forum. I would also advise checking out Division Street and surrounding areas. Would recommend Great Gatsby, The Red Deer, The Old House, The Forum, Wick ab Ends, The Bee Hive; all serve half decent real ale.

Do you have dementia? You already answered in post #4.

Anybody used A1 entertainment

I assume so, otherwise they would no longer be in business. -
Are students good for Sheffield? Local opinion
Chris11 replied to Rwill's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
How can you judge such a vast range of people with varying cultures, interests, work ethics, and backgrounds in such a way? I am sure you don't even know 1% of the student population of Sheffield, so have no idea how you can look at the vast majority of them in disappointment. However, my opinion on students is that are generally good, obviously spend too much time getting drunk or high . -
Sheffield half marathon place 2013
Chris11 replied to georgiawill's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
There are technical t-shirts for all half marathon finishers + medal. Not many people care about the goody bag. I run marathons regularly, and you get a cereal bar, some shampoo and some toothpaste - if that! There are plenty of water stations around the course (too many for 13 miles) and £26 is the usual price for a half marathon. -
Sheffield Ski Village On Fire Again Thread
Chris11 replied to tom_'s topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
It is the ski village. Can see it from my lovely hill in Hillsborough. Huge flames and dark smoke blowing over too. -
3 weeks to see nurse at doctors

Yeah, you should go to the front of the queue. -
How is it you know SWFC were founded in 1929? I didn't. Seems a bit contradictory that you say they know everything about us.

I was at Sheffield for my undergraduate degree. Endcliffe was the furthest halls of residence, and it was only a 15 - 20 minute walk. Where do you live that means you NEED to get the bus?
-
No, I keep my shoes on when I use a bus.
-
I put my feet up at home, why is that such an issue? Hate it on buses though, one of the reasons I rarely use them.
-
Haha. I've seen people use them in the gym, but it is the sort of thing I would seek professional advice on how to use. There are scientific studies saying they do work... however I wouldn't buy one.
-
Depends what you want to use it for Vicky and John.

Do the University supplement travel for the students?

Cyclists - red lights apply to you too..
Chris11 replied to miamarriot's topic in Padders' Bar: General Discussions
As a commuter and regular rider I often see cyclists skip red lights. I often see them riding on the pavement, and switching between the two to avoid red lights and traffic. Did it annoy me? Yes it did. But I thought to myself, why do I let this annoy me? I should just get on with my life and let them theirs. Moaning about it won't do anything, telling them to their face does nothing, and I'm pretty damn sure starting weekly threads on the subject won't do anything either. -
Partying in the streets due to Maggie Thatcher
Chris11 replied to Michael_N's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
So you're saying nobody on benefits will be attending these parties? -
I was also confused when I had to get the bus last week. They had advertised the price was going up to 70 p with a sign next to the driver. When I got on, they charged me 80 p! Very confused as the sign next to him said 70 p, but I couldn't be doing with the arguments....

Longcol was saying there IS a Jigsaw in Sheffield, albeit in John Lewis.
