  1. I am a final year journalism student from University of Sheffield. I am currently doing a video project on teenage abortion. I know this might not be a topic everyone would love to talk about but for those who have shared the experience in the past, whether it was just recently or 3 years ago, some might have undergone depression and I really hope you can step up and you will never know how this could clear many misunderstanding about the situation you faced by a lot of media portrayal and also empower and empathise a lot of women that has shared similar experience. Abortion hits home to me as some of my closet friends have share this experience in the past and it is never easy to watch them going through all the procedure themselves. Seeing them laughing but bleeding inside is horrible. I feel like many who took the abortion has been judged and do not get enough support. My friends have kept it quiet like a lot of other girls and that stuck me because I feel people do not know enough how abortion may cast an invisible scar on a woman that will last for her whole life. I understand this is a very sensitive issue, almost like a taboo and many might never want to talk about it in front of anyone, let alone in front of a camera but this is exactly why people should know about how it has affected lives of many, either in a positive or negative way. If you would prefer not to be identified, then you don't have to. I am willing to cooperate. And once again this means a lot to me and I hope to do something to help to get the message across. I really hope you will agree with me there is more people can do to help girls that has undergone the experience. And by sharing their experience, they can empower people who have the same experience. I understand I am making a very difficult request but this is something I really want to get pass around people to help the teens building back their confident in life. Please give me a reply or send me a private message if you are happy to talk to me, everything will be kept confidential and I really hope you can consider my request. I am not here for hateful comments. Please don't be judgemental. Thank you.
  2. It seems there are quite some post about Rare and Racy but none have really talked about its history and information on the Internet is minimal (knew they said they would close down in 2007 but that's pretty much it) Tried to google archieve of newspaper and radio programmes but nothing seems to work Anyone who go there often or know it's history or the owner can give me a hand?
  3. 'Ofsted has admitted there is no music specific inspection to regulate the performance of music education in schools but have asked 123 music hubs in the country, which are going to receive an extra £18 million funding in the next financial year, to step up as an advocate to promote in schools.' Our taxes are going to the bin or people are too busy to care about music education? Any concerned parties care to share?
  4. I heard there has been some speculation that the Coalition might remove subsidies to councils that help them maintain concessionary fares for better-off pensioners. ---------- Post added 22-04-2013 at 16:13 ---------- Ranmoor I am staying. It is further away from Endcliffe and it takes me at least 30 mins to walk to uni (I am not crawling) I mean it's alright for me to walk to school in the day but just dont feel like walking at night, especially when I finish studying in the IC. It can already be 8 or 9.
  5. Nah I m not doing maths. It's just I am a fresher and it was 60p since I m here but 10p less before I came. I think I do figure out the maths and sorry for the bit of confusion.
  6. I heard there will be a new Tesco. It's just people opposed to the idea of hving a sainsbury's so strongly that I feel there might be sth more apart from not hving a handy convenient store.
  7. I dont think they hv such offer. We uni students hv to all pay 80p (sad face) ---------- Post added 21-04-2013 at 14:14 ---------- I dont really know about the public administration and stuff but it's just a bit ridiculous when my senior told me it was just 50p last year and now it goes up to 80p
  8. I heard that councilors went against the plan of building a new Sainsburys while demolishing the Old Cart and Horses Pub in High Green. I have never been to High Green, just wondering if anyone can give me some thoughts and ideas towards the pub or the decision? Cox apparently everyone goes against the building of sainsburys..
  9. I know it has been quite awhile since the bus fare went up. I am a fresher in Uni n it's just a pain for me to squeeze 20p more for each ride, however, the student accommodation is just so far away from the campus. Just want to ask how people feel about the change.
  10. Oh dear, guess it might be quite a mess to clear up. ---------- Post added 15-04-2013 at 22:47 ---------- Is it there for some years now? Can you tell me what happened about the west one thing?
  11. URGENT! My friend challenges me to find a shop/ restaurant/ boutique which open in this month. Hv been strolling around City Center and West Street but didn't find anything
  12. Thanks. Do you know when exactly they will have it? Want to go for volunteer but I just couldnt remember the time. Plus is it just me or there is actually more homeless people or beggars around West Street?
  13. I saw there's a line of people gathering every now and then somewhere around the car park besides Tesco metro. I heard it's some sort of meal for homeless people. Does anyone have any idea what's happening?
  14. University arms is quite good to me, prolly just me
