  1. couldn't think of an "English" word for them and seemed apt as I hate doing them so ... always a chore.
  2. fitness first is opposite Fletchers, Fitness Unlimited is also known as the Hillsborough Sports Centre or swimming baths. Think they're talking about Fitness First, however Fitness Unlimited used to do Yoga as well, although i don't know which form. The classes usually go booked up quickly but you could only book so far in advance. I hope this makes sense and is of some help.
  3. trying to get away from this forum and get on with my chores. Wondered how many other people dance around like a loon while doing their chores or just get on with them. I can't help it, I always have the radio / music on and can't stop having a wiggle while doing the washing up.
  4. I don't think that the English glorify themselves enough. Like another poster said (sorry, can't remember of the top of my head) the Welsh, Scots and Irish are proud of who they are and take great delight in their celebrations and yet the English are almost ashamed to win. When was the last time you saw the entertainment industry gearing up for St George's day, mainly confined to village fetes!!! ******** to your statement, stand up cheer and enjoy the moment. I personally couldn't give a flying monkey on the what the sport is but love seeing people delirous with joy and proud of their achievements.
  5. we noticed a strange fishy smell, again not a personal hygiene issue, which was traced to a blown fuse in plug sockets. this was overseas so not entirely sure if the electrics are the same here, if you know what I mean. hope this helps. ps love the thread, i saw the original and shunned away from this message incase of more crulety to frogs but curiousity got the better of me. the limmerick is fantastic, smiles and giggles here. SF always has a thread to make my day. maybe i should get out more!!!
  6. may i ask in what way? never noticed a difference. did go proper blonde after terrible carrot moment.
  7. open for men and women, just watched yet another advert for hair dye for brunette's and was wondering how many fake brunettes there were out there. as there are many "new" blondes wondered if the reverse was true. i had an exceptionally bad experience with a home dye kit to go blonde and went carrot!!! can giggle about it now but oh the horror at the time.
  8. just wondering how many people are fake brunettes or simply covering grey?
  9. could try http://www.sheffieldjazz.co.uk http://www.sheffieldscene2.co.uk/sheffjazz/ the Lescar on wednesdays have a jazz night, which can be packed out to get down early. and there is a jazz bar/resturant up in crooks, can't remember it's name but will try and remember. again you will have to book a table as it's always been fully booked when I gone. there is a lot of information out there for Sheffields' Jazz scene, just type in sheffield jazz in google or yahoo, if you need any more. hope this helps.
  10. i'm going to get an allotment and would like to grow some veg and flowers/plants. i would like to be as organic as i can but appricate that other people will probably be using pestacides etc. would like any info on companion planting so that i can try to keep down pests naturally. thanks in advance.
  11. hello i need your help to find a hairdresser to do our hair, me and two adult bridesmaids. I don't have a regular hairdresser and this seems to be a major stumbling block, or they just don't do bridal hair. please your recommendations are required. wedding is in November so i have little bit of time but it's getting close. getting married on a wednesday at 15:00, in Sheffield, so either going to a salon or mobile dresser coming to us it doesn't matter just a good recommendation and idea of price would be perfect. thank you soooo much in advance. Tamarind.
  12. i will admit that i'm not sure on what road tax pays for or who exactly pays for new and maintainence to existing roads. but am looking into it further.... found this, heavily biased in it's tone but offers food for thought. http://www.thebikezone.org.uk/thebikezone/campaigning/tax.html
  13. so should i look out for the post/poll about how buses and taxis pay an tax for the privledge... then another post about how the fares have gone up to pay this tax. lol
  14. cyclists are allowed to use bus lanes aswell as taxi's. buses don't have to pay a tax for the regular open to all sections of road and another for the bus lanes. it's all road, therefore covered in the road tax I pay for my car. cycle paths (on pavements) are part of the pavements, so do other users have to pay a tax too... wheelchair users, people with prams etc, they all put proporation (sp?) amount of wear on the surface as well as requiring acess to cross obsticals ie curbs.
  15. woohoo... think that Sheffield has looked absolutly fantastic recently with all the plantings. Well done Sheffield, and all the people that put in the time and effort required.
  16. there are no cycle paths on my route (which i appricate is slightly off topic) only on road cycle lanes and bus lanes... how does this fit into the debate? I cycle from Walkley to Rotherham.
  17. so should i pay two lots of road tax as I drive my car when the trip warrants a trip in the car but commute to work on my bike because I'm not lugging 30kg worth of kit or shopping? in reply to another post additionally I have insurance for my bike for theft and third party damage, my friend managed to write-off a bmw after a collision after it pulled out on him so know that we (cyclists) can cause as much damage as vehilces can do to us. People to seem to think that all cyclists are car hating eco warriors who have no respect anyone else out in a public space... this is simply not the case.
  18. what... huh.... way too early in the morning to try to make any sense of this thread. my brain hurts now!

  22. it's going strong, there is a monthly meeting and other events being lined up. there is a group on yahoo for the sheffield knitterati, join up and someone will be able to help you out. http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/sheffieldknitterati/
  23. was mistaken for Tim Henmans, now, missus at a Tennis Open and apparently was on local telly at almost every break. Boris Becker stood on my foot, and didn't apologise... what is it with famous people and standing on the little ones. the one I am most proud of is riding with Graham Hicks who is an absolutley inspiring person. the tenuous links is... one of my other halfs mates was an extra in the lord of the rings... he was an orc in one of the battle scenes. honestly we have tried to spot him on a number of occasions but do you know how many of them there are!!!
  24. lol, i wouldn't be surprised.... didn't notice the date. funny i don't know how i came across this message thread then. seemed like a good idea and was going to have a look through to see if i could help anyone out.
