  1. Hi there peeps, sorry it took me a while to find this thread... Lotti had pm'd me about classes following another thread. Was in the green jacket, I'll be bringing Tilly with me next week, 18 month (ish) old GSD Akita cross. Nervous about next week as have to try to stop Tilly's "eye-balling" not aggressive just very curious about any other four legs. LOL got a tube of cream cheese and chives on the way home and success! She seems to like... although not so much joy with the clicker assosciation.... will continue to practice. 30 odd clicks later and she was showing no signs of recognition. See you guys next Monday.
  2. I could never understand how "water bombs" had caused soo much damage when watching the news....
  3. This might be a little out of your way but Monica Hewitt in Hillsborough is very good, they should be able to help you out. We used them for our wedding and were after something a little different for the gents buttonholes and they were really good at ideas and more importantly the price. Hope this helps.
  4. Wicks have a selection and noticed the other day that Purple Monkey in Commonside are an authourised reseller for Dickie's Workwear. Hope this helps.
  5. Just wondering if anyone knew what the police were doing in Bole Hills Park Saturday evening. The one on guard just kept saying that there hadn't been a crime committed and that it would be on the news, whilst holding a big roll of police crime tape? lol Anyone know anything, what can I say, I'm impatience.
  6. Would happily recommend Monica F Hewitt Florists, their pure enthustaim for all things petally was brilliant. Were able to advise what was in season in NOVEMBER, didn't I'd have much choice lol, and work to a restricted budget. Never felt like anyone was looking down their noses as unfortunatley was the case in some of the other florists we visited. Good luck with your big day 197 Middlewood Road, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S6 4HD Telephone: 01142-333784
  7. I have declared my mini offroad and have it locked up in a friends garage, have just spoken to my insurance company and they have said the best thing to do would be cancel it. Is this true or is there a company out there who insures garaged vehicles for fire & theft? any info would be gratefully received.
  8. Tuesdays are my scheduled day off and always interested in new walks for myself and Adelaide. Only have access to car when hubby isn't at work or on nights. We're in Walkley but can walk as far as Encliffe Park (in any direction) as a start point.
  9. looks like i'll have to get a collar for him afterall. Thanks for all your advise.
  10. Just wondering if you have any advice as my cat has just come home for the third time with a collar. George has a couple of known "other" homes which all know that he's a bit of a sociable beast and finds strangers laps as comfortable as ours. However someone has recently taken to putting a collar on him, what should I do? As George loves to climb trees I have never put a collar on him as I'm frightened of having a furry mobile in the tree when I wake up but chipped him incase he ever gets in trouble they can find me. I'm glad that he is making friends but upset that someone feels the need to "own" him. Do you know someone who has been putting a collar on a cat in Walkley that keeps coming back minus the collar? Please don't put another one on him, it is for his own safety. We and all his other "families" love him very much and always glad to hear / see / know that someone else is looking out for him but he doesn't suit collars.
  11. up there quiet often with my pooch... always up for company and new routes round. I work shifts though so might be a difficult to meet up but always keen.
  12. is there room for 1 plus a four legged friend? We'll probably skip the pub... Adelaide is underage.
  13. Hello there please read the following letter and tell me what you think. Dear Superintendent, I feel I need to write this letter to you to express my displeasure at South Yorkshire Police’s handling of the recent theft of two of my mountain bikes and that of one belonging to my neighbour. Earlier this morning I was woken by a text message from my neighbour telling me that he had noticed on his way to work that the bikes all of which where securely locked and out of sight had been stolen. On closer inspection I found that the ends of the securing cables had been cropped through. Two of the bikes where locked together with a hardened steel “D” lock. Of these bikes one was a full suspension down hill race bike to the value of £1000, which was locked to an inexpensive ladies bike. Whoever did this left another £800 pound bike evidently not having room for four bikes in whatever vehicle they used. This suggests to me that they could not remove the D lock on site and had to move both together along with my neighbours bike to a waiting van or car. I proceeded to call South Yorkshire Police to report this crime. I left details of the bikes concerned with the lady taking the call and informed my neighbour that he should do the same. When asked if anyone would be coming round I was told that there was no point as the crime was committed outside and no evidence would be found. This is not the first time that we have had this problem. In 2006 another bike was stolen from me having been inadvertently left unlocked. On calling the police I was told much the same thing that nothing would be done. Several months later the bike was spotted by my neighbour in a local shop. My neighbour confronted the youth and upon calling the police was asked if he was defiantly sure it was the bike to which he replied yes. He was then told to return the bike to me, which he did. At no time during this incident did a police office arrive to detain the youth who was in possession of stolen goods (still a crime in this country I presume?). I am obviously very upset at the loss of these valuable possessions but also at the seamed lack of interest from the police. It is very rare to see police officers in Walkley other than in the Bakers at the end of my street or speeding passed my front window answering blue light calls. I would like to know what is being done to prevent and solve these crimes in the area. On several occasions we have reported people down the back alley of our houses looking through the old outside toilets. Again nothing has ever been done. No officer has ever called. I feel let down and upset by the police’s apparent disregard for these crimes. Why do we pay so much tax in this country for a police force that will enthusiastically fine and prosecute you for travelling 5 miles an hour over the speed limit but abandon you the moment you are the victim of crime. I know this is a relatively minor crime in itself but it does not stop the feelings of fear, anger and betrayal of trust. I am interested to hear what you have to say on the matter and what you propose to do to stop this type of thing happening again in this area. Yours sincerely, Mark Randall.
  14. I looked into a year ago but decided against it as none of the surgeons or specialists had had it done... They only really get one chance to get it right and the chance of loosing the level of sight I have currently wasn't worth the risk. I require correction of -6.5 and -6.75, I would love nothing more than to one day wake up and not need glasses or contacts but until they can give me better odds of total correction, I'll put up with them. At the end of the day it's your choice, remember even though they can now do this in a lunch break it's still surgery and as it's on your eyes best to consider it as major surgery when thinking about it.
  15. Thanks dixieslaces p.s welcome to sheffield forum:thumbsup:

  21. There are soo many people that I've thought "Wow, I love living in Sheffield" after being served by. Almost everyone in Lush they are always friendly and informative (always spend a small fortune in there but never feel like I've been up-sold), the bus driver of the 69 to Rotherham who stopped and let me on the bus when both my tires burst near Meadowhall retail park, to the fantastic girls at The Source who walked me home after I had a dizzy spell in the salon. But above and beyond everyone was the lovely bloke who spotted that I was having engine trouble, filled his kettle and came out of his house the other day, my Mini's radiator decided to spring a leak just outside his house. Thank you sooo much, that got me home. I will get in trouble if I don't mention any of the places my friends work at but they all know how fantastic I think they are, so big up yourselves.
  22. I just want to say that I'm going to give into all this anti-cyclist hatred... going to bin my bike and drive everywhere as will my husband and three mates who all cycle to work. If your journey to work is five car lengths longer as of tomorrow, please wave to the car in front and behind and be thankful that you have five less blasted cyclists to deal with!!! come on people enough of the cyclist bashing... we're not all reckless with our and other road / pavement users lives, like every other section of society there are a few numbskulls who spoil it for everyone. I walk, cycle, take public transport and drive a car, which ever is most appropriate for the journey and there is always one person who breaks one rule / law. But I continue to travel and live my life obeying the law and being curtious to others. I hold doors open for others whilst shopping dispite often getting little thanks, however I do this for my peace of mind and not everyone elses. If there is a definiate law being broken or lives are being put at risk by someelses actions take details and then call the POLICE!!! Otherwise please just accept the fact that there are always going to be some people who don't always follow the letter of the law and there is not an awful lot you can do about it, LEGALLY. sorry for rant but I'm getting sick of coming on to this site to catch up on whats going on and seeing another post about cyclists as if the World as we know it will cease to exist if nothing is done about it. If this is your only gripe in your life consider yourselves exceptionally lucky and get on with your day.
