What is equality to you?

Maybe, but this isn't difficult.

For most of my working life I worked in the public sector. Posts have grades. Posts are represented in a Departmental structure diagram. People know what grade a post is rated at, people know what the pay rate is for the post. It is open and transparent - something the BBC plainly has not been.

If the American editor does do more work / has more responsibility then the post gets a higher grade.

It's not rocket science; as I say public bodies in the UK have been doing this for years; I can hardly believe that the BBC hasn't been doing it also but obviously not.

I also worked in public sector with the same/similar wage structure.

This is great if it works. In my area which was I.T. I started on level 6 and after 10 years was still on level 6 due to me being the boss and no positions above unless I moved. My main concern was that the I.T infrastructure had grown by at least 75% with no offer of more cash or more importantly, more help. I was a Microsoft qualified (MCSE) tech/manager/tea boy. With the addition of Apple, Android, AV systems etc etc etc and no training or help despite many requests, it eventually popped my head! and due to illness and time off, they made me redundant. I know I digress from the topic but I see it as a valid example of how grading only works if it's managed properly for both men and women.

Some really good replies to my "Devils Advocate" A very interesting thread that I believe isn't only about Women earning less than Men. But also fat cats at the top keeping a firm boot on the head of others while protecting their own interests.

Whilst in the vein of equality in the workplace - not just money. I refer to a visit to a major customer of mine who i visited at Christmas with the annual calendar.

Having a good rapport with the lady buyer i referred to our "topless" calendar - we've cut the tops of the trees and the the churches in the pictures.

She then told my how her female colleague had recently taken over the HR for a "mechanic/garage chain" - you know what's coming she has enforced the removal of all "tittillating" pictures and calendars of females in the garages/workshops and warehouses.

She has however not restricted the display of "men in uniform" "buff firemen" style calendars in her own female HR/secretarial department.

I doubt that she can actually 'enforce' anything remotely at a bunch of garages either.

I wonder what the written regulations state though, no pornographic pictures to be hung anywhere, no unapproved pictures in areas customers might see them?

Which would allow firemen in the office, but not topless women in the garage.

Pornographic pictures hung in garages ?, I have often admired the ones from Pirelli or other suppliers showing Linda Lasardie in her trunks etc

,but pornographic ???? art photography it may be but just as the ones on page three of a certain down market news paper all the lasses have posed willingly and the pay was way more than any lad could expect for posing in his Speedos.

Everyone is equal, unless your evil, then your going to hell! I can't really see how the really rich people are better off. They all look the same, talk the sane, because mommy couldn't be bothered to look for a daddy any further than the front gate. And if the so called elite were to lose everything, they wouldn't have a clue how to cope. Either way, I'm not bothered , leave them to it, I'd rather mix with normal folk.

Doesn't alter that it's pornographic and not suitable for the workplace does it, particularly where customers might see it.

So you consider it pornography to see lasses posing topless.

Have you ever been to the Spanish resorts where it is the norm for both sexes to sun bathe without tops or perhaps you may have seen certain travel programs on T.V. where the norm is for both sexes to be semi naked in every day life .

Are these people deemed to be in pornographic poses in your eyes or are they just doing what comes naturally to most of the World population .
