Michael_W Â Â 11 #5 Posted September 16, 2014 The decline in numbers at many Working Mens clubs will continue, some of them are stuck in a bit of a time warp and need to get the younger generations in before it's too late, if it's not already. The Smithywood has nothing around it to feed from and I suppose it was only a matter of time before it closed, peoples drinking habits have also changed from what they used to be. The Woodseats WMC will be the only club left in the area but needs to up it's game a bit before it suffers the same fate, Woodseats WMC may initially benefit slightly from the closure of Smithywood, but it's mainly the old timers that keep turning up, and they won't do that forever ! Huxley   10 #8 Posted October 10, 2014 Sheffield Transport Sports Club at Meadowhead is still alive and kicking with a new staff team and lots of up coming events including our first ever Christmas pantomime. We now sell cocktails too! It's never good to hear of another club closing down in our area though, it's devastating to see our local clubs closing. It's happening all too frequently these days, so we'd like to say a massive thanks to anyone in the area who supports us. We think we're very lucky to be here and we send our regards to everyone at the Smithywood who have worked hard over the years to keep the place open...it will be a very sad day when the area loses yet another club.
