A leader/pm with a sense of humour would be a good start, folk respond to personalities, something both May and Corbyn are devoid of. Labour continues to be the anti Tory party, whilst the Tories appear to have gone backwards, I’m beginning to fear that May thinks that she is Churchill when dealing with the leaders of other nations.

Nowt we can do, we’re stuck with a far right government and a far left opposition, with bog all in the middle, Vince Cable couldn’t run a tap, let alone a political party, woe are us.

Except Labour aren't far left, they aren't proposing communism, they are center-left at most. Its the far-right government that makes them appear far left in comparison.

I have talked to people from other countries where they said Labour as it stands right now would be considered Liberal Democrat in their country.

It was the same when the £3 membership renewal came up:

Thousands of Labour members leave the party after choosing not to renew subscriptions

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/03/28/thousands-labour-members-leave-party-chosing-not-renew-subscriptions/

Or perhaps they joined to vote Corbyn but couldn't really AFFORD to remain a member?

£3 is a lot if you are having to go to food banks to survive.

It'a bizarre that May's popularity against Corbyn is improving while she's so hapless. Corbyn is literally 3rd in a 2 horse race and he's falling further behind every month.

Which of the following do you think would make the best Prime Minister?

Theresa May - 40%

Jeremy Corbyn - 25%

Don't know - 35%

Come on Labour it's time to lance the Corbyn boil for good. Get rid of his band of fellow travellers while there's still time before the 2022 election.

Find a credible source, there are TONS of posts on Facebook about how YouGov was started/run by a Tory MP and stopped sending them surveys once they sided with Labour. I was one of them!

It wouldn't matter if yougov was owned by Pol Pot, all the market research firms have codes of practice and oversight bodies. Simple questions have simple responses but if you want to quote a poll of polls you are welcome instead of criticising the one I cited.

You'll get the same answer though, Corbyn is 3rd in a 2 horse race.

Was just waiting for someone to say that a yougov poll wasn't reliable :hihi: but you will get some that say a poll from Socialist Weekly is the truth  Grasping at straws again

Given the margin of error on the poll, it is possible that May is second and Corbyn is third in a two horse race.

What a ringing endorsement of our political parties

Why would a poll in Socialist Weekly be any less reliable than a YouGov poll?

Except for the fact that Socialist Weekly is a figment of your imagination.

It depends on who carried out the poll. A yougov poll in the Weekly Nazi should have exactly the same result as the same poll in Socialism Weekly. Different polling companies might get different results at different times, but trends tend to win through. The politics of owners are irrelevant since these are businesses with customers and customers need clear and accurate answers from reputable pollsters.

If the Weekly Nazi, Socialism Weekly, or Sheffield Forum run a poll it should obviously be seen as interesting in context but it would be unwise to extract a population wide result from them on subscriber partisan matters.

Corbyn keeps coming third in the two horse race. He's a serious problem for Labour as a viable opposition.

I'm not at all convinced that Corbyn has any interest in being PM. He seems very happy to be an important agitator rather than a maker of difficult decision. He's made a career of it and I don't see this particular leopard angry housecat changing its spots.

With such a commanding lead in the polls, it is a wonder that Theresa May hasn’t called a snap election to strengthen her hand in Parliament.

So why is there such a split in the party between the old Blair Left and the Corbyn Left? Why are there so many ex Labour voters who won't vote for Corbyn? Just Google "why I won't vote for labour" or "why I won't vote for corbyn".

And I find it very hard to believe that anyone struggling to survive would spent £3 just to vote in Corbyn, who was an unknown outsider at the time. Perhaps you have more information to back up your claim?

The Tory party is just as split, if not more so. There are cabinet members openly at war with each other and with the PM.

Labour have no need to present a united front. We are years from an election, Brexit will change everything anyway. So it is fine for Labour to be split at the moment, as long as they continue to oppose the Government.

It isn’t fine for the Tories to be split at such a pivotal moment in our history. They got us into this Brexit mess to try to sort out their own internal divisions. It is time that they stopped fighting themselves and started to act in the national interest. Then and only then can Tories criticise Labour for being split.
