JenC
You get used to them. The commentators on the Spanish Channel (Unnivision) have no trouble being heard over them. 11th match in, it would be strangely silent without them. Kids in my neighborhood have caught on and are playing them in the early hours. I have to say, despite them being extraordinarily irritating at first, I personally don't really notice them much now. However, the kids next door who have got hold of some - that's a different story.
Stan Tamudo
I hope a few Portsmouth fans get some vuvezelas and sit next to John the bell ringer Westwood for 90 minutes, see how he likes it.
geocol
The last Zela to make an impact at a World Cup tournament was Uwe for the Germans at Hillsborough in 1966. England should regard it as a lucky omen.
Guest
I hate them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're not alone. I turned on R5 expecting the lunchtime news the other day and got a match. The background noise was like a shoebox full of bloated, angry bluebottles. What a row. Hope it doesn't migrate to the rugby.
boyfriday
You only ever get that in English games. Most matches in Europe you hear loads of horns being sounded throughout the game - usually air horns. I agree Longcol, thought I was on my own in wondering what all the fuss was about. I've not noticed them especially, because the noise is the same as most continental or South American matches.

Jay Demerit doesn't need any more ways to feign injury to get games stopped, when he loses the ball.
