  1. Current Companies House record for Crystal Medical Ltd shows that its status is active - proposal to strike off. This could simply mean that it has not filed its accounts on time. The company will be dissolved 3 months from the date of the first notice published in the London Gazette if no action is taken by any interested party. I don't have access to the relevant databases at home but a web search suggests that the strike off may currently be suspended. If a debt is owed to one legal entity the debt can be assigned to another legal entity but there would need to be a formal transfer and you would (or should) receive some documents relating to this. Of course there is nothing to stop the second company chasing the debt as an agent of the first company. If legal proceedings were issued the Claimant would have to be the first company unless the debt had been assigned to another party.
  2. Ask them in writing (post, email, or fax) to confirm who their client is and how and when the debt was incurred along with supporting documentation. Keep copies of anything you send and if using the post it would be best to use recorded delivery. Inform them that you reserve the right to refer to the letter on the matter of costs if the matter proceeds to Court and that if you receive no response you will taking the matter up with the Credit Services Association and the Office of Fair Trading.
  3. Have had some nice takeaways from Jinnah at Ecclesfield, try the nawaabi chicken or special tandoori balti. Closer to the city centre you could try Rajput at Commonside, their lamb karahi is awesome or Manzil at Broomhill for a lamb dhansak or king prawn biryani.
  4. Devonshire Quarter Dental Practice (just off West Street) were taking new patients when I asked a few weeks ago - 0114 2760483
  5. If it's only a week and a day out of the guarantee period I'd push to get it repaired for free by the company you bought it from. You have rights against the retailer under the Sale of Goods Act. If you paid by credit card the card company may also be liable. Contact Trading Standards or the CAB for advice. If you have home insurance you may have access to a legal helpline that could assist you also.
  6. Addresses are not blacklisted. Are you registered on the electoral roll as this can make a big difference. As has been mentioned get hold of a copy of your credit report to see if there's anything on there that shouldn't be and make sure you're not the victim of identity theft.
  7. I don't expect and wouldn't want a quote without someone coming out to look at the roof. What I need right now though is a rough idea of the cost? Can anybody help?
  8. The built up felt roof on my garage is starting to leak. It's just dripping in a couple of places at the moment and the wood deck seems to still be in good condition. Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much it would cost to either cover the roof in EPDM rubber or remove and renew the existing type of covering. The roof is 6.5m x 5m. Thanks, Duncan.
  9. Not sure which papers you've had taken but is this any help? http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/BuyingAndSellingAVehicle/AdviceOnBuyingAndSellingAVehicle/DG_4022404 You should report the loss of the papers to the police too if you've not already done so.
  10. Plug one unit into a socket near the wireless router and the other into a socket near the tv. Then just connect the tv and router to the units using normal network cable. The two units complete the connection using the mains cabling that's already in place. The kit I've suggested should come with the 2 network cables you'd need. The wireless router would usually have ethernet sockets on the back so if it's easy to run a 4m cable from the router to the tv that's your cheapest most reliable way of getting the connection, no dongles or homeplugs required.
  11. How far away from the tv will your wireless router be?
  12. The tv probably needs a special Sony dongle that only works with a limited number of Sony products which is why you probably can't just plug in a standard £5 one you'd use with a PC. Even if the cheap one fits the tv won't have the necessary driver built in to make it work. As the tv has a standard ethernet port something like this would be cheaper:- http://www.amazon.co.uk/D-Link-DHP-307AV-PowerLine-Homeplug-Network/dp/B003L78F6U/ref=pd_sim_computers_1
  13. What's fair is to put you back in the position you'd have been in if you'd not received the wrong charger. You've lost your data and a working, used laptop so this is what should be replaced. Your laptop was 5 years old so there's every chance it could have developed a fault the next day. As long as the replacement works for a reasonable amount of time after you receive it I don't think you could ask for much more.
  14. The HP company can get the car back without a Court Order if you sign a voluntary surrender form. How much is the car worth now?
  15. If it is hire purchase the vehicle belongs to the finance company, not the OP or his friend. If the friend obtained the vehicle knowing that there was outstanding finance on it then the HP company can recover it from him. OP can you provide some more details about the type of finance agreement, whether it is over a 1/3 paid, have you been issued with default/termination notices etc?
  16. Not sure if they've moved but the showroom has been closed for a couple of weeks. If you look out for the MKM buidling supplies yard about half way up Rutland Road, Healthy Days is across the road from them.
  17. What did you order and what did you end up with?
  18. Are there any other cats still at your nan's place?
  19. Is this suitable for use on a concrete drive?
  20. Does the car have a diesel particulate filter? If so then the smoke may be due to it going through the cleaning cycle which is usually activated during motorway driving (high constant speed).
  21. Perhaps you could produce a witness statement detailing the conversation and referring to the recording that was made? If a Judge orders you to produce the original recording then that would provide a defence if anyone objects to the recording being used.
  22. I should add that both showers are electric, washing machine is cold feed only. What would be a rough estimate for a combi boiler? Am I looking at 2k, 4k or more?
  23. Is a combi boiler suitable for a 5 bed detached house with two bathrooms?
  24. Hi, I have a Baxi Boston 60 OF boiler (GC4107763). It seems to be running ok but if it is set for hot water 24 hours a day I've noticed that the pump never stops running even when the water is heated up. Is this a fault or normal for this boiler? Also can anybody advise roughly how much it would cost to swap the boiler for a modern equivalent? The radiators all have TRV's. Is there anything else that would need to be changed/added? Thanks, Duncan.
