  1. I agree with spats - you might need to build their trust first. As you seen keen to help out a charity then feel free to ask me any questions in regards to running an online shop. I might not always know the answer but as you can see from my sig I run my own e-commerce website, so I might be able to help out. If you are interested in setting up your own website opposed to selling on eBay then you can get free shopping cart software, which includes a basic template. I use OpenCart on my site albeit with a lot of additional modifications and design work. However, just a basic OpenCart (http://www.opencart.com/) installation would provide you with the means to sell products online without any additional modifications, with perhaps the exception of adding the charity's logo. Although OpenCart is free a domain name and hosting would need to be purchased. £6.00 ish for a .co.uk domain name and for decent hosting around £40. I hope the above hasn't put you off (I know it can sound a bit techy if you are not familiar with building websites) but these are the sort of things you will need to think about if you choose to run an online shop. eBay might be a better option if you are not technically minded, although I can't say from direct experience as I have never run an eBay shop.
  2. Have you thought about offering to run an online shop on behalf of a local charity? If they have their own charity shop you could sell some of the items online for them. If you have a digital camera you could come into the shop say one or two days a week and take photos of the items they would like selling. Once sold you can come back to arrange delivery. Paypal offer discounted payment transaction fees for registered charities.
  3. Hi, thanks for the advice vwkittie, yes kittens can be "whirling masses of destruction". When I looked after my sister in laws kittens when she went on holiday they ruined my bedroom curtains by climbing up them. The curtains were made from some special black out material (really expensive stuff) with a layer of voile material over the top. As the climbed up the voile gave way and their nails cut through, so I ended up with shredded voile. They were using a bit like a cat slide. I would much prefer two adult cats, as one they are already pass the kitten stage and two I would really like to give an adult cat a good home. It is harder for an adult cat to get rehomed as lots of people one a cute little kitten. But I wasn't sure what would be best with a baby. I don't want an indoor cat anyway. I have always had outside cats and I think it's better for them.
  4. To get the ball rolling: Mosborough Hall Hotel Sunday 7th April 2013 12pm until 4pm Free Entry I'm sure I got a letter from Tankersley Manor about their spring wedding fayre next year. But I haven't got the letter any more.
  5. Hey it's not long away though really, it's a bit like Christmas - it creeps up on you.
  6. You should take a look on the Crafts Group, craft fayres are always being posted in there.
  7. Please post details of any 2013 wedding fayres you here about.
  8. Tankersley Manor is £175 for a stall in the main hall, less if in the barn. I would say that it is a pretty popular fayre. The less popular fayres tend to be cheaper. It's a few years since I exhibited at a fayre, but from memory I think prices tend to be around £75 to £100 for a decent fayre. The one at Magna is expensive but I have never been so can't comment on how good it was/is. I think fayres work well depending on what you sell. I imagine that photographers and those selling bridal gown do pretty well. For them just taking one booking will pay the cost of the fayre plus make profit. I found with wedding stationery I didn't always make money out of each fayre. If I sold my own stationery then I could make some money, but I also sold other companies stationery on a commission basis - this tended not to even cover the cost of the stall, unless I took a fair few orders. After the first year of business I went to selling online only, I have never looked back.
  9. Never used them but could try: http://www.sheffield-printer-repairs.co.uk/ Canon might have a repair centre near by. But could be cheaper to get a new printer.
  10. Sounds like the drive has gone. CD/DVD drives use two different lasers to read discs, one for DVDs and one for CDs. Sounds like the CD one has developed a fault.
  11. I am also wondering whether to get a cat/s or kitten/s (Possibly getting two cats or two kittens versus just a single animal). I have a 7 1/2 month old. I like the idea of getting two adult cats from a rescue but at the same time I am worried that they would not get on with a baby and a new home. But part of me thinks that if I got two it might not be so bad as they will have each other to keep company. I am considering going to a rescue centre to talk with someone about what is best. But it would be great to here some opinions first. I don't want to take an already abandoned cat or cats home then to have to give them back because they can't cope. I want to make sure that when I get a cat/s that they will be able to settle in and become part of the family.
  12. Have to agree with sharpend, it just seems a way to make more money. http://www.nominet.org.uk/how-participate/policy-development/current-policy-discussions-and-consultations/consultation-new-uk
  13. After leaving my job, due to being unhappy there, I decided to become self-employed. It is something that you need to think about before taking the leap as it's not for everyone. Have you thought about what you would like to do? Any skills or hobbies that you could turn into a business? No one can tell you what to do, this is something you need to figure out for yourself.
  14. My sister is getting married later this year. She has sent me photos of when her boyfriend proposed at the top of the Eiffel tower in Paris. I don't know if her fiancee asked someone to take them or someone took them on the spur. (I never thought of asking actually, for some reason it didn't occur to me until and I read this thread) She has sent me them as she wants them editing before she puts them up at her wedding. I don't think the photos are in bad taste. I think it's nice to be able to see them.
  15. I didn't start to think about all the potential probs until now. I'm not a fan of strapless bras and tops because I just don't feel secure. Always worried that if I move too much something will escape! Might have some straps fitted. I had a similar style dress when I got married but back then I wore a corset so nothing could move. -- this has also reminded me of another problem I have with fitted clothes. I had a kidney removed so I "go in" on one side more than the other. So when i got married I stuffed a sponge down my corset on that side to even things up so I didn't look wonky. This is starting to make me laugh now. I think the answer is to say balls to a strapless bra or corset and go with a bra I already have. I will see if I can get some straps fitted that will go over them.
  16. Personally I don't find them comfortable and they get a little sweaty. They seem to dig into to me more. For some reason some shops seem to think that women with large busts don't want nice bras.
  17. Yes, my first. Didn't know it was that easy to cause mastitis! Thought it would have taken regular wear. I can see what you mean about the support problem. Didn't think about how my changing breast size would effect that. Starting to think I might just use one of my bras and keep the shrug on. Not sure why they aren't more clothes for breastfeeding mums or women who are just top heavy in general. I find it odd that as clothes go up in size that the bust area doesn't seem to go up as much as it should. Hope this makes sense - woman who are say a size 14 or 16 are more likely to have a bigger bust than someone who wears a 6 or 8, but it seems the clothes makers don't take this into account and expect a size 14 woman to have the bust of a size 6 woman. This has made me think about the dress not fitting properly as well. Although the change in size of my bust has calmed down between feeds, as my son as started weaning, they still go up and down in size. The dress itself is fitted and is currently too small for me round the bust but I have been told that it can be taken out. I have until two weeks before the wedding, so about another month before the fitting. Depending on what time of day I get it fitted it might get taken in too much and become too tight near a feeding time. I don't know if this is something the dress maker will be able to compensate for.
  18. Googled it and so far come up with bras that are too small. You might know the ones, they look like they would support nothing heavier than two small new potatoes. Yeah I know about not wearing under-wires, but I thought as a one off it might be OK?? Not thought about a corset, will look into it. My sister already has fur shrugs for us, but I'm not sure if we will be wearing them throughout the ceremony or just for photos outside (it's a winter wedding). Will have to ask. Will keep the shop in Woodseats in mind. My sister works in a charity shop at Woodseats so might ask her to check it out for me. **Oh the fun of having bigger boobs and breastfeeding. Just having bigger boobs causes a problem. Shirts won't fit unless I buy the next size up or the size up after that and then it's too big round my waist. Can't buy most dresses because of the same problem, bottom half fits but top half doesn't.** I suppose worst case scenario I can buy a normal strapless bra to wear for the ceremony and photos then switch to one of my nursing bras.
  19. Anyone know of a good place to get one? I need something reasonably supportive as I'm a 40E. It's for my sister's wedding, I am a bridesmaid and the dress is strapless. The ones I have found so far go up to a 38 back size and a D cup.
  20. You can put a wanted post in the classified section.
  21. You can hire vintage table ware, if that is any interest to you? http://www.wonderlandteaparties.co.uk/browse_prints.php http://www.thevintagetablewarecompany.co.uk/pages/gallery.html http://vintagerosecatering.com/vintage-china-hire/
  22. Maybe an art gallery would buy them? Found this online: http://www.welcometocompany.com/listing-artwork, but it does seem to be more for listing your own artwork but you could contact them. Not sure how much you would get on eBay/Gumtree. It's quite a specialist thing, so I doubt you would get many buyers if any at all. There was a shop in Meadowhall selling artwork, not sure if it's still there. They might sell it for you.
  23. Was brought up in Grenoside and I can't think of anywhere, sorry!
  24. The HMRC website has lots of information on what you need to know when it comes to NI, VAT and Tax. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/startingup/index.htm
  25. I think they just mean if you want to know anymore to contact them. Or perhaps if your a wedding business and want a stall there to call. In all the wedding fayres I have attended you never had to call up if you were a visitor.
