  1. Hi While gardening today I found a brick amongst a pile at the bottom of our garden in Crookes, there are numerous types of brick, but so far only one keyworth. (If you PM me your e-mail address I will reply with pictures) The brick is imprinted:- CHAS KEYWORTH WADSLEY BRIDGE
  2. The Co-operative ethical water pledge Did you know that one billion people don’t have access to clean water and two million people – mostly children – die every year through water-related diseases? Monday 21 April sees the launch of our first ever ethical water campaign to provide a million people in Africa with pure, clean water through sales of ethical water in The Co-operative stores. We are asking you to make a pledge with us: "If I buy a bottle of water I’ll make it a bottle of ethical water." Find out more at:- http://www.co-operative.co.uk/water
  3. I take it with no recommendations that people have not had good experiences with printed concrete, any more info greatly received.
  4. Have you thought of running football history tours on saturdays in the football season? a trip to the pub at heeley were the first rules were drafted, a tour of the oldest ground in the world at hallam, lunch and a drink in the plough (football memorabelia in pub), then back to the ground for a match, finishing off with a drink back at the Plough. On alternate saturdays up to the coach and horses ground after lunch to see the worlds oldest club, Sheffield club.
  5. selling an advert to local busnesses every 10th square could reduce the cost drastically!
  6. Has anyone had any printed concrete laid, if so how much a meter did you pay and can you recommend any good supplier/ installers.
  7. I thought it is ridiculous comments like this that meeting was held to dispel, the two guys from the co-op seemed passionate about maintaining a presence in Hillsborough, and most attendees were of similar opinion. What is really needed now is the people of the area who value the store and PO to support the staff through this difficult time and shop there, that is the way to ensure its future.
  8. better for who ? better for the staff you will put out of work? better for the shoppers who shop there? not really a well thought out comment.
  9. 'it's hardly likely a sports shop will do well in hillsborough, there was one on taplin road and that didn't last 2 minutes!' Suggs lasted long enough untill the whole company was sold
  10. 'For mens clothes there is nowhere.' 'Menswear, sports gear i can think of so far' What about Ashfords, excellent clothes, good prices, but not really for the Peacocks crowd.
  11. Enter the details of the programme you want to watch into this web site ( http://www.tvgenius.co.uk )and it will let you know a day or so before it is going to be shown. a great tool as once entered the programme will let you know every time it is on, untill you take out the information.
  12. Hillsborough has a good mix of chains and independant retailers, unlike our bland and unsinspiring city centre stores where you could be shoping in any major city in the country. Support your local retailers. Shop local reduce your carbon footprint protect and prerserve your neighbouhood. We have some great local centres offering a real range of indepandant retailers, e.g. Woodseats, Ecclesall Road, Ecclesfield, Crookes.
  13. best way to stop theft is get in the face of any potential theives.
  14. I am all for that, but please ensure the stores reported are reported with factual evidence not hearsay. I am sorry to say that the only answer is "no ID, no alcohol" no matter what age. targeting the drinkers not the poor sales assistant who will be easily intimidated by gangs of youths.
  15. Your previous post "If the loads of people reported the co-op for selling alcohol to under teens then maybe something might get done about it."
  16. Yes they should, but its people like jumping in spouting off prior to reading the facts that send the authorities on a wild goose chase.
  17. Parapou, you have solutions for the easy problems, but what about the loading aqnd unloading outside the co-op, they do have to get stock into the store, but maybe they would be more caring if they carried the stock to the store from the closest parking 200meters away, oh but thats not very carring for there employees is it, or maybe they could close and pass all the trade Tesco, oh but that would not be carring for the local community. Solution Move the bus terminus, and make the bus stop a delivery zone, not ideal but a solution rather than just a gripe.
  18. Came down Holme lane today and there is a sign just prior to the lights saying 'Bus Gate Suspended' didnt take a chance though, so I did the usuall detour of Bradfield road, Penistone road, Parkside road and back onto Middlewood road where I parked in the precinct car park, a drive of 1.2 miles to get 200 yards, and i thought we were trying to conserve fossil fuel.
  19. brilliant, so Scott Walker, which can only be a good thing.
  20. Two weeks ago on the 23rd of February my broadband conection failed, after spending around 4 hours over two weeks on the phone to my provider, plus rewired all conections tried 3 different routers and paid an enginner to look at the problem, On Saturday the 8th I saw a neighbour who had suffered the same issue on the same date and was in the same position although with a different ISP, but he knew of a number of people in the Crookes are with simmilar problems. I rang BT who said I had to go through my ISP, but lo and behold I come home from work the followimg day and all is well again, as if nothing had happened of course no one is to blame. has any one else had simmilar issues? have you been successfull in complaining if so who to?
  21. Can anyone help I am looking for an independant VW repair garage in the sheffielkd area, or any good reasonably priced independant garage in the sheffield area cheers
  22. I wasnt aware that the economic downturn started the same day as the bus gate enforcement, what an incredible co-incidence or maybe the butterfly effect of the economic world. I have also contacted the Money Programme to inform them that a 100 meter stretch of a Hillsborough shopping street could be used as the world economic barometer, mind you they better not stray into Bradfield road where business's are reporting year on year increases, or could this be the site of the economic equator?
