  1. 'it's hardly likely a sports shop will do well in hillsborough, there was one on taplin road and that didn't last 2 minutes!' Suggs lasted long enough untill the whole company was sold
  2. 'For mens clothes there is nowhere.' 'Menswear, sports gear i can think of so far' What about Ashfords, excellent clothes, good prices, but not really for the Peacocks crowd.
  3. Enter the details of the programme you want to watch into this web site ( http://www.tvgenius.co.uk )and it will let you know a day or so before it is going to be shown. a great tool as once entered the programme will let you know every time it is on, untill you take out the information.
  4. Hillsborough has a good mix of chains and independant retailers, unlike our bland and unsinspiring city centre stores where you could be shoping in any major city in the country. Support your local retailers. Shop local reduce your carbon footprint protect and prerserve your neighbouhood. We have some great local centres offering a real range of indepandant retailers, e.g. Woodseats, Ecclesall Road, Ecclesfield, Crookes.
  5. best way to stop theft is get in the face of any potential theives.
  6. I am all for that, but please ensure the stores reported are reported with factual evidence not hearsay. I am sorry to say that the only answer is "no ID, no alcohol" no matter what age. targeting the drinkers not the poor sales assistant who will be easily intimidated by gangs of youths.
  7. Your previous post "If the loads of people reported the co-op for selling alcohol to under teens then maybe something might get done about it."
  8. Yes they should, but its people like jumping in spouting off prior to reading the facts that send the authorities on a wild goose chase.
  9. Parapou, you have solutions for the easy problems, but what about the loading aqnd unloading outside the co-op, they do have to get stock into the store, but maybe they would be more caring if they carried the stock to the store from the closest parking 200meters away, oh but thats not very carring for there employees is it, or maybe they could close and pass all the trade Tesco, oh but that would not be carring for the local community. Solution Move the bus terminus, and make the bus stop a delivery zone, not ideal but a solution rather than just a gripe.
  10. Came down Holme lane today and there is a sign just prior to the lights saying 'Bus Gate Suspended' didnt take a chance though, so I did the usuall detour of Bradfield road, Penistone road, Parkside road and back onto Middlewood road where I parked in the precinct car park, a drive of 1.2 miles to get 200 yards, and i thought we were trying to conserve fossil fuel.
  11. Can anyone help I am looking for an independant VW repair garage in the sheffielkd area, or any good reasonably priced independant garage in the sheffield area cheers
  12. I wasnt aware that the economic downturn started the same day as the bus gate enforcement, what an incredible co-incidence or maybe the butterfly effect of the economic world. I have also contacted the Money Programme to inform them that a 100 meter stretch of a Hillsborough shopping street could be used as the world economic barometer, mind you they better not stray into Bradfield road where business's are reporting year on year increases, or could this be the site of the economic equator?
  13. Since the introduction of the bus gates turnover in the shops around the co-op end of hillsborough is down around 10%, with people detered from taking the 1.5 mile detour from the south to access the co-op and precinct car parks, yes they are rarely full, but they were full on a daily basis prior to the enforcement of the bus gate. So yes you can access these car parks by increasing your carbon footprint. I used to drive 2.4 miles to work, i still work in the same place but trafic calming, bus only roads ect have made the same journey 3.2 miles an increase of 25% in distance and fuel used, no i will not get out of my car and walk, i will just increase my carbon footprint. Regeneration or degeneration.
  14. I did search , but was hoping someone may have a diffinative answer now the ground works had started, but it is still obviously all guess work.
  15. 8 more parking spaces lost, another nail in the retailers of Hillsboroughs coffin, well done Sheffield city council. Regeneration or degeneration.
  16. Does anyone know what is being built on the site of the old Somerfield on Halifax road.
  17. we are only upholding the law, please have the sense to direct your anger at the law makers, not the inocent shopworker trying to earn a living and uphold the law, or risk a £1000. as the previous reply says try it for a day
  18. Add to the possible £1,000 fine, a criminal record for the cashier, making it difficult for her to move jobs and possible other knock ons, plus the fact that store could loose its licence, this would cost many collegues their jobs, a non dicrimatory policy of no ID no age related products sold (matches/ lighter fuel/ firewoks/ DVD/ video/ alcohol/ knives/ razor/ blades/ asprin etc/ cigarettes) the list is endless and the task for the cashier thankless.
  19. From the cashiers point of view the safest way would be no ID no alcohol, no matter how old you look or think you look. Supermarket cashiers are on the whole paid minimum wage but are asked to enforce a law the police should be helping to enforce, and in the process put up with hassle and abuse from the people they question. The offence should be buying or attempting to buy, not selling!!!! and the police should stake out stores and pick up anyone underage either buying or attempting to buy any goods that are governed by age restictions. If you were to get your house broken in to, you would not expect to be prosecuted for letting it happen.
  20. its time to stand up and be counted, live by the sword, die by the sword
  21. I take it you rang the police to report this issue!
  22. excellent, beauty is in the eye of the wallet holder.
