Budget cuts more than likely. Rotherham Council started this around 10yrs back and claimed it was to help wildlife. Looks alright for 6-8 weeks in summer, then the rest of the year just looks an overgrown mess that can be quite dangerous if on the central reservation approaching junctions/roundabouts!

Depends on what your budget and requirements are? I'd avoid the north of Rotherham/east of Barnsley though in the areas you've mentioned. Thurnscoe is probably the worst of the lot, but most are ex mining communites that went to rack and ruin back in the 80s and have never recovered.

Top tip, drive the 30miles up the M1 to Leeds and have a look at their city centre and how to invest. A good start would be the reintroduction of buses along Leopold Street and Pinstone Street again!

Always found this argument amusing, especially with some of my friends in Leeds who think Look North is very biased towards Sheffield. Seems they can't win eh

No we're not. Sheffield is in Yorkshire, which in turn is in the North. Don't tarnish us with the badlands that are the East Midlands. Passport control needs to be set up at Dronfield.

Really does depend what you want and if you want this to be your forever home, or wanting a good return on investment so want to purchase in an up and coming area. The South/West you pay for location, the North/East you can get more house for your money, but depends on areas you look at. As a general rule of thumb, when looking at a map Sheffield is distinctively split between East and West by the A61. Generally anything to the west of the A61 is generally more desirable and good areas (few exceptions of course such as Low Edges or Fox Hill). Same goes for the east side of the A61, with a few good areas (Norton or Burncross) but generally it's less desirable and towards Rotherham generally more industrialised. Only you can decide where you live, but as you say there is good and bad areas where ever you go. Personally speaking I'd just avoid areas around Firth Park/Page Hall and Pitsmoor. They tend to be the areas with the highest deprivation and crime rates within the city.

It's further up on the former garage at the junction of The Common and Church Street (next to Aldi). Believe the former offices at Ecclesfield Police Station are still to become a 24hr McDonald's drive thru. Understand Stagecoach have sold part of their land to allow an access road to be constructed from the existing bus depot access road. Can't wait for the fun of buses and McDonald's traffic starting to mix, if indeed true!

They're also building one at Ecclesfield (current building frame is already being built) alongside a Greggs and some other shops. Planning applications have also gone in for both a Starbucks and another coffee shop drive-thru adjacent at Sheffield Road, beside Ickles Roundabout (A630/A6178 junction) in Rotherham.

Should've never moved from Castle Market/Sheaf Market... But this is "progress" I suppose 👀

Penistone Road, where even the light sequences are set at 36mph, so if you don't speed you get caught in red lights. Attercliffe Common and Dereck Dooley Way are similar, does nothing but encourage speeding.

Might want to read the road signs properly then and the road layout Clearly signed M1 (N) and A6178 R'ham.

If coming from A6178 Sheffield Road (Attercliffe/TGI) it would be the middle lane as marked A631. Lane 1 (left) is for the A631 Tinsley Viaduct and A6178 Rotherham, Lane 2 is for the A631 Bawtry Road and M1 (S), Lane 3 is for M1 (S) and A631 Shepcote Lane.

Looking at the house prices around the area and how they've shot up, it seems to be the place to buy at the moment (alongside most of S5). 3 bed and with a drive, you're looking at between £170-200k now from looking on Rightmove. Crazy to think this time last year the said houses we're selling for between £110-140k! You might be on to a winner, especially with the new developments that they're building throughout Parson Cross that look to be increasing the house prices in the area.

More like they've run out of cash or have just simply given up and are ready to walk away. Appear to be getting ready to asset strip it, like they did with East Midlands Trains before they lost the franchise. When is it the renewal of the system is up again, 2024 isn't it?

Does the tram use the bus station = no. Not sure how you’re finding this hard to grasp. It’s a tram replacement service. If you want the bus station - catch the 120 or any other local bus service.

Bus stop is at side of the tram stop. Why would it stop at the bus station which isn’t close to the tram stop? It’s a tram replacement service, not an additional bus service.

Probably because it’s a “tram replacement” service and not a standard bus service. Clue is in the title 😉

And a small team that clearly can’t maintain what they currently have, since the overhead has fallen down 5 times in 12 months. We’ll not count the Glossop Road incident as that quite clearly wasn’t the fault of Supertram. The incident at Waterthorpe (and Hollinsend a few months ago) was apparently the tension wires simply snapping. Clearly someone is not doing their job properly!

There was, the 64 that was withdrawn around 10yrs back? Been plenty of services over the years and all have failed to attract any passengers, so have been a waste of time.

Overhead wires fell down again. Only the 5th time in the last 12 months across the system. Must be poor maintenance!

Seen it mentioned that it will be in May?
