  1. Thought it might be a registry problem. Glad it's fixed.
  2. From the BIOS message it looks like it's detecting the DVD drive which is connected internally to the computer. The USB drive is unlikely to be detected at BIOS (however, it can be). I'd assume it's a problem with Windows, it could be a registry problem. You could go to Control Panel > Add New Hardware and do a scan for the drives from there? Failing that, you could do a system restore to a point when it was last working. Or even a sfc/check now could work.
  3. There are numerous variables that can have an effect on your broadband speed. For example, the current usage of the exchange - so the time of day, day of the week etc. The 'up-to' advertised rate pretty much means that in optimum conditions, you'll get for example, 20 Mbps
  4. Unlikely to need thermal compound if the processor and heatsink are new (heatsink normally has a layer on by default)
  5. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130429 4GB RAM DDR 800 (2x 2GB Sticks) You wont get better RAM than that for under £50.
  6. Hi, I'm looking to have a website designed for a portal style website. This would be paid for (we're not looking for free work) and the details are: - Website design which allows for 8 different categories - Link in with BBC Football news feed - Ability to upload articles which can be put under one of the eight different categories and instantly accessible on the website. - Ability to add videos for the video subsection. - A tailor made forum for members. - Top 10, and poll functionality. - Self sustaining, almost idiot proof to update, add articles, add polls, reviews etc. - Basically a Content Management System to control the website which would be designed to the highest standard. The look and feel of the website will be crucial and a top priority. Please send me a PM if you're interested - if you can, please link your portfolio, and once we've shortlisted designers for the site we would like to have a meeting with you to discuss our needs in detail and to obtain quotes. Thanks, Simon
  7. Halibut has said that just because Palin has a child who suffers from Down Syndrome, that does not make her an ideal candidate - because irrelevant of her family's situations, her political ideologies and beliefs make her a potentially dangerous choice for Vice President. I think you've speed-read the post by Halibut and instantly become defensive. I understand that it may not be easy having a child who suffers from down syndrome, and you may become defensive about the situation as a first reaction, but it's really important that you understand that Halibut simply said that her child's down syndrome should not justify people voting for her in the elections on it's own. I don't think Halibut should apologise, and I think it should simply be seen as a misunderstanding.

  11. Got my payslip today and can't say I've noticed a change in the amount I'm paid. Might be right in thinking that, as I'm paid in arrears, I might not see this extra £60 until October's pay slip? Also, got to say I'm suprised this isn't a more 'popular' thread, I thought loads of people would have been interested in an extra £60 quid, especially in times like these!
  12. It is with Cloud, as is the Prince of Wales pub. 02 and Cloud (the provider of the WiFi) have an agreement where iPhone users can use their WiFi for free on their phones.
  13. Hi everyone, The change to the personal allowance in April from ~£5,400 to £6,000 goes into effect in September. I was wondering if anyone knew how much people could expect from the backdated tax refunds since April? I'm assuming it's the same for everyone earning over £6,000 a year as it's a change to the personal allowance. Cheers guys
