  2. how do you know when you have crabs?, well i've been told you walk sideways:rolleyes: the best way to get rid of crabs?- sprinkle salt on the affected area, and when they come out for a drink- run away:clap: john.
  3. hi batteries tend to lose efficiency as the temps drop and can lose up to somthing like 60% of their cranking capacity when really cold, that's why batteries normally let you down in winter:mad: john.
  4. angel you really could be onto something there-acting the parts of third rate actors:clap: john:help:
  5. hate winter, out of the house at 5am,cold,slush,chapped lips and worse of all-pepetual darkness. SAD really gets at me:mad: i love spring best, when the fresh new leaves are starting to appear on my bonsai trees,as well as the bulbs pushing through in the garden i also like autumn as my maples foliage (and other trees) turn blood red:cool: summer's ok-so long as it's not tropical:nono: regards, john.

  13. hi, does anyone know if the bootsale is on in the morning?-or have those pen pushing gits in the townhall closed it already? john. ps, have there been any developments yet as to wether they have the right to close it down (as i'm led to believe that it is located in derbyshire not south yorkshire) pps, did anyone see redrobbo's piccie in the star the other night-a right handsome devil:thumbsup: regards.
  14. HEY CARCRASH, i've got a vox electric piano that i bought from the carboot sale,i also paid about a fiver for it,all working exept one key:( my son did a search on t'web and couldn't find very much about them (exept that they were only made for a year or so). best bargains- solid gold gents rotary watch, working fine-50p 1950 omega s/s gents watch £1 iwc scaffhausen gents watch £1 pentax programme A slr camera £2 numerous ladies solid gold watches-£1 each. loads more all from bootsales(btw,it may be realised that i collect watches:D ) my biggest blunder was turning down a 'funny' looking massive pentax camera,i mentioned it at the camera shop on abbeydale road and he told me it was a medium format (professional) camera and if working properly would have been worth a couple of grand, asking price at the bootsale-£5,i cried in my beer all that night:( regards, john.
  15. WOW, a real diversity of hobbies, some of which sound great-some not so great (feet picking, yuk:gag: ) i'll bet that the canal renovating can get really stinky with all the years of sediment build up:gag: i have other hobbies too,to a lesser extent, but working 12 hour shifts on a fairly regular basis,i'm usually too knackered to persue them:mad: anyhow, enjoy your hobbies:clap: ,i do. regards, john.
  16. hi i've got a few hobbies which include bonsai, collecting old mechanical watches and collecting airguns. i've just got back from don valley stadium where the bonsai traders held their annual competition/stalls for peddling their wares etc. i must say the prices have really shot up this year for some reason:mad: i bought two, very average (smallish)japanese white pines (£19 and £22) and four japanese maple whips (£3 each) last year i got a jap maple (seigan) of about 20-22 inches tall and roughly 1,1/2 inches thick at the base of the trunk, the cost was £35-this year comparitive sized/quality trees were over a hundred pounds:o needless to say,i didn't buy one this year:( as for watches,i've got over 1500 from 30years of collecting ,ive managed to reduce my airgun collection to 4 rifles and about 7 pistols so what hobbies do you all have? regards, john. oh damn,i forgot about my guitars:help:
  17. hi all in around 120 transactios on on eprey, the royal mail have only buggered up once, i bid on and won a seiko watch, sent my cheque.four days later the seller very politely asked me if i still wanted the watch so,i mailed him and told him i'd sent the cheque and presumed it was lost in the post,so i sent another which he recieved the following day-and the day after that my original cheque arrived.he tore up one cheque and banked the other one. all in all,i'm more than happy with the mail service:thumbsup: rich, there are a lot of very honest people on the bay-and just a few dishonest ones,i hope you are dealing with the former. hope it gets sorted, john.
  18. hi rach73 auto transmission fluid (dexron) is actually red in colour. on all autos, you should be able to change through the gears manually by using the gear stick. it should have letters and possibly numbers, like P D N R L I or P D N R 1 2, the L=low gear, the I= intermediate (2nd) gear, these features are for towing and, when selected will stay in that particular gear until moved to another. if you try using the gear select in this way,and it changes gear, then this would indicate that the box is ok and it could just be the gear linkage that needs adjusting or replacing. my father in law used to own a rover 3.5 litre v8 sd1,now he lives on a very steep hill and one day it ran down the hill with no one at the wheel,no one was injured but in P (park),it should not have done this,it turned out that the linkage rods needed adjusting as when he selected P (park),the gearbox was not locked, coupled with the fact that he had not pulled on the handbrake hard enough and the brakes being hot (metal contracts slightly when cooled)it simply ran down the hill:mad: hope this helps. john.
  19. three times a year-BUGGER-i still owe her two from last year:D john:thumbsup:
  20. indeed you can change your name by deed poll-i vaguely new a lad that was always doing it, he changed his name to ian ogilvy, then i believe simon templar,i think he had a thing about a certain tv programme:D ,this lad was a bit of a comic,i once saw him walking towards two coppers and he started marching and saluting-as soon as he had passed them,he gave them two rods on each hand:clap: ,i once saw him on new years day doing press-ups in the freezing cold, with no shirt on:loopy: john.
  21. thanks for all your replies ladies (& gents,i think) these replies have certainly given the missus some options:thumbsup: she has already tried some of the products mentioned, but they didn't agree with her,her condition seems like an allergy rather than eczema or psoriasis, there is no flakiness, just itching and stinging. once again, thanks for all your replies:thumbsup: regards, john.
  22. hello ladies my wife has a very sensitive scalp, and as such, has to be very careful which shampoo she uses. every time she finds a shampoo that doesn't irritate her,it seems to disappear from the shops. i was wondering if any you nice ladies would know where to buy TIGI GENTLE CLEANSING SHAMPOO in shops/chemists etc,and would mind pm'ing me or replying in this thread. thanks in advance (just in case anyone locates any:thumbsup: ) best regards, john.
  23. hi the saturday bootsale is actually the barlborough one that has transferred, the barlborough site was always waterlogged,so they moved to the corner field at bowshaw, but that too occasionally becomes saturated,so they just don't bother to open, can't really blame them as i've been there when cars have been stuck all over the field:mad: regards, john.
  24. hi merroney the one on blonk street is open nearly all year round but you have to be very early,i used to go that way to work at 5.30 am and there was a line of cars waiting for it to open that stretched right back and over ladies bridge. also there is marsh lane (near eckington), this one is on saturdays and sundays, but in different fields. why not put your 'rubbish' in the sales section on this forum-that way,you don't have to stand in a cold field for half the day:thumbsup: regards, john.
