  1. Oh, there lots and lots of warm drinks available. Most of them are under the "fruit tea" categories. Though, I too try to drink the more useful ones. The ones that help digestions and things like that. Camomile. (From the camomile plant. Helps reduce stress and anxiety. Good as night drink.) Peppermint tea. (Helps indigestions. Drink after a meal ?) Lemon water. (Yes, HOT lemon water with honey. Good as a breakfast drink. Or a detox alternative.) These are common ones, but there are so many more dried flower or fruit plants which are now used as tea alternatives. Or hot chocolates. Aloe vera drinks? Barley drinks? Rice milk? Soya milk ?
  2. Well, guys are just as bad too. Making sexual innuedo jokes, or "looking" or "oggling" at women, when the attention is not wanted or needed. Like I caught some ex-colleagues who were in their 40s and 50s looking, judging, and discussing the legs of 2 girls in their teens/early 20s. That is SO bad in my book. Cos what will happen is that, either the girl has to "take" in the attention and acknowledge it. Or they will make the guy feel old by feeling repulsed that they see them as possible potential partners. Or they become a laddette and swear a lot more in order to push away such attentions.
  3. Blue Moon is opened. Though, I do not know what their coffee is like. Their cakes are yummy though! I think we definitely miss the independents in town...
  4. Society is changing... and people are becoming more hostile. You are what you groomed to be, so what do you expect ? I also do agree with you about the swearing, but the more we seems to be so "open" as a society and this is supposed to promote democracy, we lose out on the decency and the humanity sometimes. There is indeed a time and place for things, I agree.
  5. You have my every support lifegoeson. I cried when I read your thread, but I also wanted to say that, thank you for sharing this online. As an internet user, I have read such stories as yours online in my life, and I have learnt from real people the stories of inhumanity, and I thank you for teaching me this, and making me understand. When I read your story, I felt so angry. The kind that really makes me stand on your side, and want to see those guys in jail if anything? Cos what they did was so damn irresponsible and inhumane. If anything, they should really get a good look at themselves and understand the context of their own infected selves too. One presumes that there are also a possibility that all 3 of these people are? If there is going to be a book out on this. I shall buy it. Please let me know if there is any other way to support your story. I presume that you will go ahead and write about it. The other idea that came to my mind was, whether you would publish as an anonymous writer or other, in popular magazines like Men's Health. Or even GQ. If anything, your story makes me think one of morality and responsibility as a person. Cos those damn guys did not think about that at all. I hope they go to jail. I hope that you have reported it to the police and let them take appropriate actions and not let them get away from infecting others further. Though I respect your wishes for privacy and so forth. Thank you for sharing this. Yours is one of the first story I have ever come across about male rape. Thank you for keeping it real.
  6. http://www.tedxsheffield.com/about.php Anyone attending this ? A mini TED conference just for Sheffield.
  7. I think the Newcastle to London line via Peterborough has always been expensive. They are a regular route for commuters from Doncaster to London ? I have not seen them reduced their pricings, or introduced any kind of discount at all. Even if you buy is early, it is still around the "off peak" price, which is around 40 region. It used to cost me around 56-58 from Sheffield to Cambridge, even if I find combination ticket journeys, but stay on the same trains and route. It is still pretty expensive. Other train lines like the old Midland Mainline (East Midland) used to have really cheap tickets like 10 pounds per journey. Now that there is supposed to be some kind of standardised fair system across all rail network, off peak tickets are not longer as cheap any more. For some of the cheaper northern regional tickets, it has gone up. If the train companies do their own discounts, then do you get much cheaper fairs, but if they don't, then the cheapest is indeed the supposed "off peak" tickets. Many Southern commuters from the M25 region to London have been complaining for years about the train prices down there, so... To the OP, you may want to check out to see if there are any discount deals offered from the actual train companies. Sheffield to Peterborough is operated by East Coast Railway for the longest part of its journey. http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/promotions/toc_gr.html
  8. I just saw this on the news today. I wonder whether he was an activist of sorts. The news of how he did it and why has not been released yet. It is somewhat interesting though to see that the security and access is not quite there? I thought that there were strict security access and so forth.
  9. I take these things with a pinch of salt. As I know that my intuition is not strong. I do think that many people are quite genuine with this. Not everybody accepts these ideas. So I would say that, "so be it". Just as those who do not believe in Religion, does not mean that it does not play a role in society. I read about the Sally Anne story. I hope that someone goes and find this park, and dig out those items. For a supposed tolerance society, it isn't so tolerant at all. New Age concept and spirituality existed in the UK for a very long time. It may have fallen out of fashion now. Though I applaud the fact that there are associations like British Humanist Association and The Spiritual Workers' Association to protect these genuine individuals who do have a gift. I would hate to see the UK like the US and have all these fancy ideas of how the world is, and continually get rid of history, heritage, for new supposed "concepts" and ideas. Which then allows other people like these http://thesecret.tv/stories/stories-recent.html to repackage simple and basic spiritual or religious ideas which existed for generations in the past in modern terms. Yeh, we are in a capitalistic society.
  10. Plus also, as you age, your skin does get drier. Well, in effect, I would check your internals, like your digestive systems first. Obviously your diet causes most skin conditions. I'm starting to get dry patches here and there. So at the moment, I'm eating more colonic cleansing food (i.e. detox), and using aloe vera pills for now. I'm also trying to convert my whole lifestyle change. Less stress, and more healthy food, and starting to investigate and merge my lifestyle to maybe to a more vegetarian-based kind of diet. The kind that I was brought up with by my mother. I really miss that. Now I know how good it was before. I would use and do whatever makes you happy. Cos being happy with the product, and using it to meet your own needs is the way to go. I used to use way too many different products and do not understand my body as it ages. So it adds on top of the stress and so forth. I now try to finish off the products and use a more basic and simple routine that fits my lifestyle better. Less choice is good for me.
  11. To you maybe, but not to me. The OP asked other users to give their opinions. Not to give a generic universal opinion and speaking for others.
  12. You cannot "easily" have saved them. Cos you have to kill a man to save the rest. That is not easy. There is also nothing to say that the police chief will abide by his word. Exactly why would he want you to kill 1 in order to release the rest? It makes no sense. Doing nothing is not resolving it. It is a decision in itself. It is a choice. Judging how you have written what you did, I can deduce that you probably would have killed 1 to save the rest. Well, that is you. That is not me. I also should not be vilified for having my answers to this kind of theoretical situation. Cos it is obvious that everyone have their own solution to this. Based on their own internal values. Fair enough is what I say.
  13. Extending the question back to you... What intelligence do you have on those people ? In another scenario and context, if the police chief was Martin Luther King, who had sex affairs on the side, would you do as he says? Even though you do not know that he has a reputation that he has sex parties ? Okay, what if those sex affairs were with underage girls ? Would you view him differently and kill him instead of doing what he tells you to ? To answer the original question: Can wrong sometimes be right? No, wrong is wrong. It is not right. You may get endorsement from others and inflate your ego that you did the right thing in a social context, but immorally wrong is immorally wrong. Killing is immorally wrong.
  14. No. Why are you derailing this ? I am challenging Headingnorth about his proposition that I cannot have the option to kill this guy but yet is forced to make a decision. Cos once I killed, it changes me. If all those options cannot exist, then I won't kill. It is not a job or role that I am in to do. I would obviously find any options not to kill anyone first. If that is not available, then I would try and kill the police chief, cos he is being inhumane. Unless you are saying that you are just like the police chief and think so inhumanely and support the killing of others with no remorse. Is that what you seem to be implying ?
  15. To be honest, from what little clarification he has given, it is loaded with lots of moral presumptions already. He said "right or wrong", in what context? Morally right or wrong? Responsibly right or wrong as a human being? Duty as a foreigner, what? What is it that he is implying? The real true answer can only be as good as the description of the situation that he describes. My answer is not to not get involved, cos that is your projection of what you want it to be. In my mind, I think you already have an expected answer in your mind. You also limited me in asking for further clarification in the background details already. So it is one illogical argument which is just based on theorectical argument for argument sake. If I was a policeman, or was working in the force, and then that situation comes out. My action and decision point also differs too. Cos I have a duty to do my role and to save as many civilians. Yet, if I was a traveller, and entered into this situation, and I do not have the option to kill that guy, then yes, I would not kill anyone, and be killed instead. Are you telling me that you will kill ?
  16. You would feel guilt either way for killing 1 person, or not being blackmailed into a decision and therefore 10 is killed. Since that guilt will always exist. What can and should you do? You cannot control someone else's decision, or change their religious beliefs. But you can try your best to persuade them, or to find a way to verbally resolve the issue. The karmic of the killing lies on the hand of the person that did it. Cos how do you know that the children of the deceased won't take revenge? What goes round comes round. Someone up there has an eye and is counting the bad in the world and where things happened. I'm fairly certain of that. In the real world, these are the kind of options you would think about. Cos otherwise, you are losing your own values, and integrity as a person. If you do not believe in any of it to begin with, then why would such options bother you in any way at all? You may as well let that police chief kill who he likes. It won't make one bit of moral difference to you.
  17. If YOU kill, you go to hell. If HE kills, he goes to hell. You can only control what you do in your life time. You cannot control what someone else does. I would try and persuade him not to kill them in any way that I can, and also not kill any one myself. What you send out verbally is also karma as well, so becareful how you say and what you say. [Added] You have a third option. You could kill him. Or not kill him but bind him, and release the others. That is how I view my humane values. Even though he is the police chief, but he is not humane in any way at all, or ethical. All humans are equal. It is the decision from humans which change the ethical value of one person's life over that of another. If you followed what he said, it means you belief in his position and buy into his police structure, even though it is based on inhumane values. Think about that angle.
  18. Makro sells it. It is now one of those brands that are classed as "catering" category. What you get in supermarkets are more domestic generic brands which should sell to a more generic market. Sarsons is still available in supermarkets, and one other malt vinegar which I cannot recall the name of...
  19. I do not think that shops will be gone altogether. Though, what may happen is that products will cheapen. The supply-chain is definitely changing. Like so many supermarkets now cover all types of products and services too. In the future, it will indeed be a "one stop shop". Hand-made items will be higher priced instead.
  20. I'm really sad to hear that it is closed too. I used to live in that area as a child. Though, there is indeed nothing to have stopped him from refurbishing old items and sold as antique, or to even sell abroad? Cos retro is indeed quite in demand. Whatever they may be. I know a lot of dial phones fetch for a high price globally! Or he can turn try to become these specialist products, and source it for his customers. A specialist electrical emporium sounds nice. I wish him all the best.
  21. On top of that, someone told me that Ecclesall Rd used to have a laundromat too in the 70s. Also, where Tesco is now, on the right hand side to that it used to have a shop called "10 and 20p". It used to sell tacky house-holdy things, and cheap toys and so forth. The precinct was quite downtrodden even then. I used to go there to buy the glowing plastic toys. They used to keep me company at night and not get nightmares. So there, cheap and tacky or not, it served a function for someone living in the city, and it kept the economy going back then in 1980s... I do not understand why people keep using the word "class", when really, any areas can be regenerated, or it can degenerate. That is just a sociological cycle in any city. People moves around. Industry changes and it moves on.
  22. Thanks for sharing that info. I'm going to keep it in mind.
  23. I like them too. I've used it once or twice when I can remember. Sis bought me one of these boxset to deal with some dryness and skin flaking issues on my face? I do think that their essential oil concept is really good. But I am really lazy. Plus, I am tackling my diet more now to see what is causing my skin condition than to use any cosmetic products. Whenever I eat certain food, it flares up. I do remember that, the oils, plus the cream, and then a good night sleep, does work. It usually balances it back up overnight, which I used to be impressed with.
