  1. Thanks for sharing that info. I'm going to keep it in mind.
  2. I like them too. I've used it once or twice when I can remember. Sis bought me one of these boxset to deal with some dryness and skin flaking issues on my face? I do think that their essential oil concept is really good. But I am really lazy. Plus, I am tackling my diet more now to see what is causing my skin condition than to use any cosmetic products. Whenever I eat certain food, it flares up. I do remember that, the oils, plus the cream, and then a good night sleep, does work. It usually balances it back up overnight, which I used to be impressed with.
  3. He should not have done that online, no matter whether you do have AS or not. If he is likely to do that, then surely he should not be allowed on the internet, or to self censor from posting online? He was provocative and at a time that is not socially acceptable. The judge is right in banning the connection to the actual social networking site access.
  4. I think that this is a lovely gesture. Though, I have to be absolutely hands on heart that, I would have preferred chocolate or jewellery, or whatever girly items are better when I was younger. I would want all the above and more ! In a way, it is the "thought that counts", but it does depend on how long you have known each other and the occasion as well. If I dated someone for a very long time, I kind of hoped that they will know my taste. So, giving me flowers when I have hayfever is not really as appreciated say, than a meal together in our favourite restaurant, or to go back to a place where we both once had happy memories together ? It is being thoughtful that count in the earlier dating days. But as the years goes on, and you have a lot of history together, it is then a reminder of your love or understanding to each other. If you had promised to buy her jewellery when you have become a manager, or whatever, then buy it. If you have promised each other a holiday when you reach 30, then do it. If she was down, or whatever, then something small like hand made items or card is a good reminder. It really depends on the occassion.
  5. You are an absolute douche. People have courtesies, and sensitivities. Do you go chasing people whom shared such bad news with you to let you judge them this way, if it was in real life ? No. Also, I do not understand why the integrity and the reputation of the OP is also being judged here. It is not your place to JUDGE! The poor woman came online asking for advice. Either give advice, or keep schtum. Your responses really drummed up some anger in me. Cos it is such bad form what you wrote here. I hope the OP is okay and was not upset by what is written here online, cos of some nasty people. It is so true when people used to say: "Laugh, you laugh together, cry, you cry alone." I just hope that the OP have some kind of shoulder to cry on, and support from family and friends around her.
  6. I'm still using some old residual Bodyshop Vit E ones. All I know is that, the night cream should be so much heavier to preserve the moisture for a longer time. When you spread it on the skin, you will notice the difference ? As to what kind, and what else you want in it, then it depends on you. i.e. do you want anti-aging ones, or just simple basic Vit E, or any other kind of additives for other reasons like anti-oxidant to let it work overnight etc. I'd also recommend drinking more water too as well as using the night creams.
  7. "A wide range of Alchemy Gothic Earrings designed and made by Alchemy in Sheffield, England, from the finest English pewter." http://www.onlinegothic.co.uk/alchemy-gothic/alchemy-gothic-earrings.html Erm. FIND the darn warehouse??? lol. Maybe if you can track them down in Sheffield, and either get old stock, or least the original catalogue number ? This is really interesting about Sheffield having this kind of historical past... Did not realise that Paganism is so strong here.
  8. Okay, I realised that now, the brand for that earring is called "Alchemy Gothic". I found the maker's website, and there seems to be a forum, and then several dealers across the globe listed on their own site. You may want to ask for more responses on the forum, and then maybe search the online dealer's shops? http://www.alchemygothic.com/ I tried to find it on that site, but it seems they no longer sell this. I also cannot find the catalogue number or name of your product. I am guessing that it may be "E6" based on the gothstar site. http://www.gothstar.co.uk/acatalog/E6.jpg Listed UK dealers http://www.alchemygothic.com/index.php?option=com_agshopnvote&task=show_shop_list&country_id=28&Itemid=194 http://www.oldcuriosityshop.net/shop/se_gothic.html?loc=United+Kingdom Good luck.
  9. Don't get grumpy about it just because you got your facts wrong. That's what it means to be factually correct, or not. I think you contended that, not disputed it. I'm the one disputing it. But I thought it was all easy, just determine if we're talking about a factual or moral issue and then settle it. Unless you don't like the facts of course and then just call it anal. Or perhaps you don't understand that there is no universally accepted moral framework... I wouldn't disagree. But I'm not sure how it's relevant. I was trying to persuade you and show you that you were wrong semantically with regards to how you wrote and used what you did in English. (In doing so, you are a great example of what the OP is writing about, this whole business of "right or wrong" online.) Therefore it is not a good way to communicate since you were nitpicking rather than to keep on topic. You picked out illogical statements, when you do not read the written word in terms of its prose and style. I am not grumpy at what you claim as myself being factually wrong by your standard. I am mad cos you do not see the subtlety in the English language usage and that you are a very pedantic and anal writer without reading the post written by someone else to truly understand the context first before going to nitpick, therefore acting as being obtuse or challenging. I see you as picking a fight basically. Anyway, I won't respond any longer, cos you are really winding me up.
  10. The idea is in the pipeline already. I won't need to patent it. It is moving that way. Just that some companies may or may not market it asap if the market is not quite there yet. Why compete with the big players ? I think if you can crack the real-time data update, then you are onto the next stage of these kind of apps dev I think. The question is "how".
  11. I do not know which planet you fall off from. I just want to clarify these points that you have raised: 1 - The way you used the English language is wrong, but you fail to acknowledge and accept this. It is not semantically correct how you used the word "nice", even though it is common for people to say "this is nice" during an one to one interaction, which to the recipient, it is accepted as their own personal opinion, or a expression of their feelings. Yet, you wrote a statement, in a public domain, whereby your audience is more than one person (AND the context was a discussion about the forum and the psychology of the writers online). How exactly can you not use the word "I" or "my opinion" and so forth to qualify your meaning ? Even when you wrote the statement "chicken is tastier than turkey" cannot be classified as objectively true. It is only subjectively, in your own opinion or preferences, as true. You literally wrote a statement. You did not write "I like chicken". In your proof of the word nice, please re-read the sentence again: "we had a nice time." It is the qualifier "we" stating that it is nice. If you read your definition again, the word "nice" really is used to describe the emotion experienced by the person. Yet, you wrote "chicken is nicer than turkey". No, the Chicken cannot be emotionally be nicer than a Turkey. 2 - Peanut definition. To my defence, and I can see where you are going with this. You are being anal about the scientific classification of a peanut. When in reality, peanut is collectively accepted as a nut by the general public. I followed the convention as set by the snicker's bar company whereby they described "this may contain nuts" on the bar as being true for what it is. It is like saying, stop saying that tomatoes are a vegetable when it is really scientifically a fruit. Well, keep trying! Cos it is so socially accepted to be described as such. If you picked on that too, I find that anal. Why would I look silly when I have accepted the social norm, and not argue it like no tomorrow ? Cos it comes across as pendantic otherwise. 3 - I did not contend that food cannot be described as nice when a person experiences it. I disputed the fact that YOU, as a PERSON, used the word "nice" wrongly in your language and did not really take into context what you are saying and writing. Because of this, I see a lot of people like yourself who do argue about anything and is really winding others up, a lot. 4 - Judging what you wrote here, it makes no sense at all. It is obvious that you did not understand my original sentence. I just think that you are a pedantic person.
  12. No, you are absolutely right there. I did take the context very differently, and I did not expect Cyclone to then quote me, and we went into this anal discussion somewhat. To answer the original post. This is purely my own opinion, and experiences of online forums. In real life, one wants to make friends and obviously will self censor, and may respect someone else's opinion for what it is. As each opinion is purely personal, and individual, and should and can exist for what it is. Also, when in a one to one context, the context of that interaction is one of friendship. How does that compare to multiple people interacting at the same time, discussing in a more generic way about some random topic? Should a person really put their own lives on the line and be criticised in any shape or form? The answer is "no". The interaction in a thread on a forum that allows so many people to access and to write on it, is not the same as a decision to go and meet someone and to engage in discussion with them. Who is right or who is wrong on a forum? It depends on the mass collective consciousness. I certainly would take offence if someone criticised my ethnicity, religion, or culture... Exactly what is there "to" discuss? I am me. I know me. If you do not accept it. Go away. Simple.
  13. Sorry, it still does not work for me. A chocolate cannot be "nicer" to another chocolate. Food are supposed to taste good. You may say that a Snickers Bar is TASTIER than a Mars Bar. In this instance, it does not matter if you used the word "to" or "than". You used the wrong choice of adjective to describe the actual food. People are nice. Food are tasty. Also, because it is your own opinion regarding the food item, and how you find it. I would have classified that as a personal comment. Therefore it is factual that "Cyclone found chicken tastier than turkey". This is a fact. It is not a fact if you removed yourself out of the sentence. You cannot make a blanket supposed "universal" statement like "Chicken is tastier than turkey". Exactly how do you scientifically measure "tastier" ??? It is nonsense. It makes no sense. That is not a fact. You are also wrong about the dried pea. It states on their ingredients list that it is peanut. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snickers If you say that I was misled, then I believe what you say is untrue in a factual context, as the ingredient list publicised by the manufacturer states that. Unless they have their labelling wrong... I am more likely to believe them than to believe you. Sometimes when people talk, they have a moral truth held in their mind when they talk. Therefore this is what others are "fighting" about. It is getting to this moral truth. Take the example thread about the Castle Market. Is it morally correct for the local government to put themselves first on decisions than on the people whom they are supposed to govern and provide a service for ? No, it is not. So therefore the needs of the people have to be put first. Whatever the local government provides in terms of new facilities, have to provide for its existing clients, as well as meeting their own regulations and targets or whatever. Without the loss or effect on its existing social dynamic or livelihood of the people there. If the local government just decides to do whatever, in terms of meeting targets but indirectly affect the people, then they are being "unethical" and "immoral". This is based on the fact that, the local government exists to govern people. If they do not meet this responsibility, then they are being unethical or wrong in their job, right? Facts are based on scientific truths. Moral values are based on people defined truths.
  14. I don't think so. There is one on the tram route though in Hillsborough.
  15. Thanks. Best of luck. Hope they have it in stock.
  16. When you write this, I presume you mean "I personally find chicken is tastier than turkey". This makes it a fact. It is a fact about your own preference. What you wrote before was a statement, that is nonsensical in every sense. It has a semantic error as such. Snickers cannot be nicer to Mars, as they are both objects! When someone write that Snickers contain only 40% of nuts. They are not disputing the fact that it does have nuts rather than it has not. Cos there is actually nothing to dispute. If it is factual that it has nuts, then it has nuts. Sometimes people use "qualifiers" to clarify their original intent of the context of what they mean to imply or to say.
  17. You should definitely go and see a doctor about these nightmares. At least to ascertain whether they are invoked by these strong painkillers that you are taking. As I understand it, it is simple. You mentioned that you are taking pain killers, and that they are giving you nightmares. I said nightmares are a psychological effect from something from your life. In this instance you said that it is the pills. I said either stop taking them, or do something about it in your life to stop the nightmares. I did not know why or need to know why you are taking those pills. All I was concerned is that, you do have a choice to deal with the nightmares. Now that you have told me about the fact that they were for a lung operation, and then RA afterwards. You have to ask yourself, whether you do want psychologist support or not. To me, the fact that you told me this, gives me the impression that you may be traumatized from the experience, and may need some counselling, if anything. As painkillers reduces physical pains, but what fixes the psychological side of the experience? Anyhow, no malice or deliberate obtuse intended, so I wish you a speedy recovery!
  18. Not related really, but for future reference. Check this site out. This is a good example of what I mean of decent standard and good pricing. It is a B&B for 100 p/nt. http://www.thehoneymoonproject.com/2011/09/05/hotel-review-the-old-vicarage-bb-broadhembury/
  19. Okay. I redid the search with google, and I searched by images. I only found two sites with that image. One if the above I sent to you. Which I don't think links to a proper online shop. Cos I cannot click to buy. The site is a bit dud. Then I found this one. You can buy from this one it seems. http://www.gothstar.co.uk/acatalog/Earrings.html
  20. You mean this? http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/jewellery/alchemy-gothic-captive-pair-of-earrings.asp
  21. I do not have the answer to bridge that gap, but just wanted to say, bloomin well done!
  22. Yeh, I just realised the exact words you wrote. Packaged holidays do not do "last next day" cheap deals. Their cheap deals are mostly to travel within 1-2 weeks' time. The only "last minute cheap deals" (like tomorrow) I know of, are normally flights or hotel rooms from lastminute.com. You then have to find your own hotel once you get to the destination and so forth. It means having to create your own DIY deals. You can normally still find cheap deals within a 1-3 months period of booking before departure time. Yet, only if those destinations are not the most popular or the peak season though. Most are new hotels trying to break the market, or new destinations that are available cos of the Euro Vs Pounds fluctuation. ==================== I searched this for you: ==================== 2 adults Departing from Doncaster Sheffield, (1st) East Midlands, (2nd) Manchester (3rd) Going to Anywhere Departing: 14 September 2011 Duration: 7 nights ============== Results are: ============== Star ratings from £427 5 from £642 4 from £305 3 from £169 2 Board type All Inclusive from £537 Full Board Half Board from £682 Bed & Breakfastfrom £427 Self Catering from £169 Room Only from £1419 Resorts from Ayia Napa £169 Larnaca £305 Nissi Bay £498 Protaras £169 Departure Airport Doncaster Sheffield Midlands East Midlands from £775 North West Manchester from £169 ============ Conclusion - Cheapest ============ From 169 PP From Manchester to Ayia Napa or Protaras , Self Catering. 23. Yes, there are a lot of cheap holidays. Only if you go at a certain time (when the companies cannot sell them, and therefore why it is discounted). Or if you buy the different components separately and as a DIY holiday package. TV experts say there are cheap holidays. They are never the ones sold through your local Thompsons, or directly from the companies themselves. It is always through some kind of brokers at a cheaper discounted rate or last minute deals that they cannot sell on but agreed to have that quota for originally. I shop mostly online, using consolidated search engines which gives me a listing of ALL types of holidays in one view. I am not sure if they are covered by ATOL, but they are mostly "buy asap, no frills" type of holidays. If you are the type of person who goes to Thompsons, then my guess is that you like packaged holidays, rather than DIY ones. Then consider these particular sites ? http://www.travelsupermarket.com/c/holidays/last-minute/ http://www.lastminute.com/site/travel/holidays/lastsecond-deals.html http://www.expedia.co.uk/last-minute-deals.aspx?mcicid=123430918 http://packageholidays.ebookers.com/ http://holidays.opodo.co.uk/?lid=3641 I did a scan for you. The Travel Supermarket and Opodo seems to have a "real time" update or prices, as they are under < 200 GBP. Mostly European beach type places. Tips: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-holiday-haggling-guide I never do this silly bargain business. Cos I do not like arguing. If I do not see the right pricing, I walk away. The above links are ones I have found in my own time, and have seen as more credible and stable in their pricing strategies. Good luck surfing! [Added] By the way, Turkey is apparently more value money these days as a packaged holiday destination. Most of my European colleagues go there now for full board deals. So there should be more available. Spain and Greece is a tad more pricy now.
