Euro Elections

This thread has been reviewed and returned to the main forum.

A couple of points for you to take note of.

We expect it to remain civil and within our usual forum rules.

As this is about an election the following will apply

Here at SF we try to ensure fair play, and that includes during elections. We don't allow links direct to political party websites or to sites that spread spurious stories for political influence at any time, and that will continue. We also ask candidates and those campaigning for political parties to follow our code of conduct in the run up to elections. In order to not provide any influence unfairly to any side, we ask that those who are standing or who represent a party refrain from posting in threads to do with political discussion or elections during the 4 week run up to the vote.

It's  mandatory and your account will be suspended if you don't do it.

If you have any questions please take them to the helpdesk rather than starting threads attacking the forum team. If you do that then your account will be suspended.

The truth hurts, right?

No, I mean how are you adding up the parties?

So what happens now?

Scared by the performance of the Brexit party, the Conservatives will lurch further to the right and choose a rabid brexiteer as their new leader who will make noises about getting a better deal than Theresa May negotiated. Of course he/she will not manage that, and Parliament will continue to fail to agree a way forward. We’ll then fall out of the EU in October with no deal.

The UK as a whole will suffer

Minorities will suffer

So we can look forward to an even more divided and unequal society. I’m pretty old, so will probably not be affected too much before I die. But in the years to come my descendants will. I feel so sorry for what we are bequeathing to them.

Remainers are having their noses rubbed in democracy - and they don't like it one little bit.

The big problem in this discussion is people behaving as if there is only one form of leave.

There isn’t.

Let’s have a very pessimistic view of all of this.  Currently at the time of this post;

Remain – 40.4%

Leave – 42.5%

This does not include Labour’s 1.5 million votes.  So, since 75% of Labour voters are remainers, want a guess which side will have a majority?

Hint, 2% of the vote at this moment is worth about 190,000 votes.

It's a moot point since Labour have basically come out as a remain party tonight.

22 MEP seats have been announced. The Brexit party has won 9 of them. Still early.

Rubbed in what?

The Brexit Party are polling just over 30%.

Hardly a resounding endorsement of Brexit.

Oh this is a bad night to be a Remainer.

They are on the wrong side of history. Remainers belong with David Cameron and Nick Clegg's austerity for the poor, riches for the bankers...

35 MEP seats have been announced. The Brexit party has won 15 of them. Still early.

The next party with the most seats is the Liberal Democrats, with 7.
