Euro Elections

This thread has been reviewed and returned to the main forum.

A couple of points for you to take note of.

We expect it to remain civil and within our usual forum rules.

As this is about an election the following will apply

Here at SF we try to ensure fair play, and that includes during elections. We don't allow links direct to political party websites or to sites that spread spurious stories for political influence at any time, and that will continue. We also ask candidates and those campaigning for political parties to follow our code of conduct in the run up to elections. In order to not provide any influence unfairly to any side, we ask that those who are standing or who represent a party refrain from posting in threads to do with political discussion or elections during the 4 week run up to the vote.

It's  mandatory and your account will be suspended if you don't do it.

If you have any questions please take them to the helpdesk rather than starting threads attacking the forum team. If you do that then your account will be suspended.

A BBC analysis of polls puts Conservative voters split 50% remain/50% leave and Labour voters 75% remain/25% leave.

No analysis of polls if perfect but it's likely to be more accurate than the hunches of the people on this forum.

But how their voters position themselves is answering the wrong question. It's the party's policy on Brexit that is relevant and counts here. A voter could deny climate change and then vote for the Green Party, but that doesn't mean the Green Party counts as climate change skeptic.

Are you going to claim that he's wrong?  Or are a large portion of leave voters from the main parties switching to the brexit party?  The same isn't true of remain voters though is it...

No, I'm going to claim it's irrelevant. The Tory policy is to enact Brexit. Therefore, all votes for that party count as Leave votes in an EU election that's a proxy for a 2nd referendum.

A large vote for Brexit will rub all those radicalised milk shake missile launching Remainer noses in democracy - and they won't like it one little bit.

The best answer to those who refuse to accept the wishes of 17.4 million people is to TELL THEM AGAIN.

As UK turnout for EU elections averages below 40%, the election result is LIKELY TO TELL US VERY LITTLE.

The best answer is to HAVE ANOTHER REFERENDUM. If the people confirm they do want to be worse off, that would be the end of it, no comebacks.

There are approximately 53 million adults in the UK.

Why should we be held to ransom by 17.4 million of them? (32%)

How many of the 53 million voted for Remain? Was it more or less than 17.4 million?

We've just had another referendum.

It was called the EU elections.

We had to TELL THEM AGAIN because they aren't listening!

It wasn’t a referendum.

In the polling Brexit were only getting 37%,  way short of the 52% that leave got in 2016

The Remain parties - LibDems and Greens were opinion polling at 15 and 10%, so 25% total. Which is less than the referendum and less than the Brexit party.

Those pushing for a second referendum should really have used their superior intellect and formed a Remain party. Dunce Farage managed to do it.

There is talk in Germany of the Greens getting 22% of the vote making them Germany's second biggest party! 😵
