The Consequences of Brexit [part 4]

Recommended Posts

That’s just the politics of hate and envy. And insanity. You want to destroy people who have been successful. If you used the same language about the Rich you’d be labelled a socialist.

The £96k figure is actually not far off for our household income, but neither me or the missus have had any kind of advantage. My family was poor, and my wife’s background is modest. We’ve done well, and now you want to destroy us. Because you’re a failure? You’d better explain ;)

Hans Christian Anderson must be spinning in his grave.

The benefit cap is £20,000 outside Greater London.

So a salary of around £68,000 per year (give or take) would be required for this amount of contribution.

Again, it's an example of the level of affluence and priviledge that many Remain supporters enjoy. Of course, this wealthy elite are almost completely disconnected from the lives of the disadvantaged and vulnerable people that the EU has tossed aside.

Quick serious question, Car Boot: is someone employed to work on £68k per annum more "completely disconnected from the lives of the disadvantaged and vulnerable people" than millionaire Oxbridge-type politicians like May, Davis, Jonhson, Hammond, Farage <etc.>, most of whom have been proven to squirrel money away in offshore accounts, or less so?

It's an important question, because those millionaire Oxbridge-type politicians are the people driving and formatting Brexit, not the £68k earners, nor the disadvantaged and vulnerable for that matter (which those millionaire Oxbridge-type politicians have actually been targeting in anger since 2010); and those millionaire Oxbridge-type politicians stand at the opposite of your spectrum of social beliefs.

Perhaps some food for your thoughts, there. If you're not just trolling or as completely blinded by ideology as the last hate-spewing Imam, that is.

As for this posting £xxk earner, he's done supporting the UK-resident disadvantaged and vulnerable. He's off earning €xxxk, supporting the non UK-resident disadvantaged and vulnerable. Nobody else but Farage, Leavers and May's government to blame for that change, I would have been perfectly happy to continue supporting the UK-resident disadvantaged and vulnerable.

As we have seen on this very forum and elsewhere, the contempt the EU elite hold for disadvantaged and less educated people is shocking. Perhaps, according to some Remainers, only those in a certain income bracket should have the right to vote...?

Between me and the missus our household income comfortably exceeds that. We’re not affluent. We’re very hard working and financially astute. I don’t hold you in contempt. I’m one of the people who doesnt want your life to get worse, and that is why I’m arguing so strongly against hard Brexit.

Fortunately for me it’s the truth, and I’m looking to take that earning capacity elsewhere.

Yes I know that, you've been telling us for eighteen months.

Can you tell us where you're going to earn that much for spending all day on their forum, there'll be a rush to get there.

He can come and join me if he wants as I'm another £xx earner who gets to spend time on here each day. Perhaps you guys are in the wrong jobs. <shrugs>. And like loob and ILT, I also probably do considerably more both physically and financially for some of the worst off people in the UK than most Brexiters do.

I am from a reasonably advantaged background. My parents ran their own business, it gave them and me a comfortable enough living without making any of us millionaires. I went to private school on a scholarship as we wouldn't have afforded it without one, and then on to military school, the first of my family to do so. So whilst I have been given many advantages in my life, I'd like to think I've done something with that. So yes to answer Car Boot, do I *know* what it's like to be utterly destitute? No, I don't, but do I care enough to try to support those who are on their terms by taking the time to find out the best way to improve the lives of others, most definitely yes.

Saying people are deluded isn’t an insult. It’s the truth, because they are deluded. It’s perhaps worse than that - Brexit is starting to look like a cult where people hold views that defy all reason and logic, and are even willing to damage their own lives in pursuit of those goals. It’s getting very strange.

The cult thing is from a Spectator article a few months ago .Do you have any personal opinions without resorting to plagiarism?
