Is it correct that the TV LICENCE is for BBC tv and Radio Only ?

its totally unfair tax on us. IF we have to pay for this then t SHOULD be divided up between, BBC, ITV, Channel 4 Channel 5 FULL STOP

Telewest and other people have sky, we have to pay them our monthly fee's so why should i also pay the BBC TOTAL RIP OFF

What absolute hogwash.

TheAppropriation Act covers all items funded by the Teasury, even down to the cost of running overseas territories such as Gibraltar.

There is a simplistic version of how the BBC is funded by TAX on Wiki.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television_licensing_in_the_United_Kingdom

The licence fee is set annually by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport by the use of Statutory Instruments.

The BBC is authorised by the Communications Act 2003 to collect the licence fees. The money received is first paid into the Government's Consolidated Fund. It is subsequently included in the 'vote' for the Department of Culture Media and Sport in that year's Appropriation Act, and passed on to the BBC for the running of the BBC's own services (free from commercial advertisements), and for the BBC to produce programming for S4C.

The licence fee is classified as a tax[1], and evasion is a criminal offence. Since 1991, collection and enforcement of the licence fee is the responsibility of the BBC in its role as TV Licensing Authority[2]. It subcontracts the obligations to commercial organisations trading jointly under the name "TV Licensing"[2][3]. A major subcontractor is Capita[4] which specialises in outsourcing for government projects.

Someone tell my why we should pay TV license when the boss's and mangers of the BBC are making 100's of 1000's every year for sitting on there ass? I think even the TV presenters shouldnt get as much.

They keep bringing new radio stations and new TV channels out? Why dont we get a say in this since we are FORCED to pay for it? We have to pay our TV license's for the radio to be aired? So why dont people who listen to the radio have to pay?

There is only 3 shows that are worth watching on the BBC. Family guy, Top Gear and Russell Howards Big news

Sorry about the rant but i had to get it off my chest

Any comments people?

Rick

They run a business. They can charge whatever they want. As a consumer you can buy it or not buy it, why should they make it cheaper when most people are willing to pay what they charge?

I have a tv and I dont pay. I assume you mean if you watch the other channels. Maybe its because the bbc paid for the signal or something similar?
